  1. Joe Nathan (presuming he is retired), Justin Morneau and Johan Santana are the obvious ones to go in, Terry Ryan probably as well. Others from further back, Gary Ward and Jim Mudcat Grant pop into my mind - maybe play by play guy Ray Scott (more likely than Halsey Hall). I suspect Jack Morris may one day get a nod simply because he pitched the greatest game in team history and is a local guy who still works with the organization. Pat Reusse certainly deserves to be considered, but probably won't because he's not a Twins employee. Rick Stelmaczek will get in based on longevity. I'm worried about the following getting in this dubious HOF who are more questionable entrants than Cuddy: Frank Quilici, Corey Koskie, Dougie Baseball, Gene Mauch, Jeff Reardon (not long enough tenure), Latroy Hawkins, Tim Laudner and Coomdog. However, I am convinced that one year the Twins will make the ultimate, abominable mistake and put TC Bear in this "Hall".
  2. Michael Cuddyer was inducted yesterday into the Twins HOF? Yes, he was a very good player, a great clubhouse guy and high character guy who is still working for the organization. Still, the Twins have not yet inducted Johan Santana into their HOF. Johan won TWO Cy Young's for our club (Cuddy was an all-star once). He was a dominant pitcher during his time here. . He has an outside shot at making it to Cooperstown. IS there bad blood between Johan and the Twins??? Even if there is - IF Chuckie Knobbie can make it, surely the Twins can make the call to Johan. That invitation is long overdue!!!! I'm starting to think that the Twins will induct Corey Koskie and Dougie Baseball into their dubious Hall of Fame, before Johan Santana.
  3. First: The Twins look good in the infield with an abundance of shortstops in the system led by Nick Gordon and Royce White. Have to believe Polanco will either be traded or moved to 2nd Base if Dozier is traded. Second: The Cedar Rapids Kernals need to bring back the last version of Mr. Shucks (basically Mr. Peanut but he's an ear of corn instead of a peanut shell) . Merely having Mr. Met put straw under his shirt ain't cutting it! Third: Kent Hrbek is worrying big about his HVAC Endorsement deal, which will be gone if Shane Carrier ever makes it to the MLB Club!!!
  4. I forgot to say: I thinnk Hughes will find a way to come back and be a bullpen arm in 2018
  5. The FO is in sellers mode but bordering on "wait and see" mode in the event the Twins go on a winning streak and get much closer to a wild card berth! They have to react to current reality - but reality can change!
  6. I'll add another to go out on a limb. I think Phil Hughes' next surgery will fix the problem and he will contribute in the bullpen next year.
  7. It seems like the Twins will have an unusually high number of pitchers coming back from injury who could help them in 2018: Perkins, Santiago, Hughes, May, Chargois, Burdi . . . Whether a pitcher successfully bounces back from injury will be based on the nature of the injury, and the quality of talent and effort from each pitcher. So who is likely to be washed up and who is not. Here is my somewhat uncertain take on three: Perkins: May be a LOOGY next year (even the new regime may show loyalty to local boy), but still unlikely. Santiago: Gone! May: Will contribute in the bullpen for most of the season - maybe we'll get more.
  8. Gibson's last start was good. At this point, it should be Mejia and Santiago fighting for the last spot (at least until Gibson goes sour again)
  9. Belisle has actually been better for the last few weeks. Breslow just never made it this year.
  10. This is probably the end of a long major league career made longer b y Twins decision to give him a roster spot after Spring Training. That spot should have gone to Buddy Boshers to begin with.
  11. Anyone not named Gonsalves, Gordon, Romero, Garver, or Lewis. Maybe Kirilloff and Chargois are untouchable based on how well each is recovering from injury.
  12. I did about 15 minutes of searching online to see if Joe Cronin is the great-grandson of the Hall of Fame Player and former AL President of the same name. Anyone know? He is from Manchester, Ct. So he's from the Northeast, where the deceased Hall of Famer played (for the Red Sox).
  13. Well, it could have been worse. I'm just glad I won't see him next Wednesday when I see our squad vs. the Dodgers. Colon will make at least two more starts, and probably earned that short lengthening of the leash last night.
  14. last year, Eddie's throws were accurate. This year, he has been inconsistent.
  15. Then again, Bartolo has a better chance than Steve Carleton did in his brief stint with the Twins very near the end of his career. .
  16. Big Sexy goes 2.2 tonight, giving up 6 Earned Runs. Two home runs (but he baffles Aaron Judge). Bartolo gets DFA and retires.
  17. Every season, the Twins should have at least one "Max Kepler Dollar Brat Night". Get Sheboygan to sponsor it. Replace the regular lame walk-up music wiith Polka Music and "Wock Me Like a Huwhickane" by the German Band Scorpions (maybe the German language versions of songs recorded by The Beatles and Peter Gabriel). Maybe Bring Back Nickel "Bier" Night. Max Schnell !!!!!
  18. The Twins will stay close enough in the race that they'll hold onto Ervin Santana. They won't get trade value for him in the off-season and hold onto him like they did with Dozier. Opening Day Rotation will be: 1, Santana 2. Berrios. 3. Mejia 4. Gonsalves 5. Gibson (on a very short leash!) (Jorge and Romero waiting in the wings, maybe Hughes or starter from trash-heap if we're desperate) Hughes and May (when ready) will help in an improved bullpen. They have some quality bullpen arms: Kintzler, Rogers, Hughes, May, Duffy and whoever proves their worth in spring training (Pressly, Hildenberger, Burdi, Stewart, Chargois, Slegers, Boshers. . . some of those relievers when they are ready coming back from injury). I'm hoping the Twins don't go too far into the FA market, because it looks like they have enough talent to field a pretty good staff of starters and relievers. The Twins are going to be careful with Trevor May as he makes his comeback - so don't expect to see him in the rotation. The team had already relegated him to the bullpen long before he went on the DL..
  19. Agreed. The Twins should not make a trade like the one the Cubs did for Quintana (unless it's the other way around for Ervin Santana - if the Twins lay an egg in the next two weeks).. The Twins need to add talent to the minor leagues, not deplete it.
  20. It's not worth giving up even a 2nd tier prospect for an aging Jose Bautista. Zach Granite has earned his way up here. Vargas gives some power off the bench and a better defensive first baseman than Bautista.
  21. Cincy signed him so fasst just top make original post look bad. Ha Ha.
  22. Today's Strib reported that Cincinnati has still not signed Hunter Greene (agent Scott Boras). Maybe the Twins' FO was smarter than some of us thought when they drafted Royce Lewis.
  23. Chris Archer looked good on Friday, but Sano looked completely lost! Get him in the cage to get his stroke back!
  24. Darn shame regarding Nicki Burdi. Hope he comes back from Tommy John better than ever. Persevere!
  25. If Nick Gordon is the real deal future at SS and both Dozier and Polanco remain here - Then Polanco slips into the role currently occupied by Escobar. I understand, that's a lot of "ifs" - but that's how I see it. Other options are available in the minors if there is an emergency (injury)!
