  1. Meyer starts, Stewart relieves. The future of the Twins rotation in one game. Meyer--1.2 IP, 3H, 1 BB, 1 ER, 5 K Stewart--2 IP, 0 H, 1 BB, 0 ER, 2K All in all not terrible. I'm hoping Meyer wasn't going 100% and wasn't using breaking stuff, explaining the hits. Getting all his outs by way of the kay is pretty good though.
  2. How many more starts are the Davies/Blackburn pupu platter going to get?
  3. This is why I'm befuddled as to why he is up right now. It's a nice story, and I'm happy for Mr. Bernier, but is there any reason Dozier/Escobar and Florimon/Escobar shouldn't be manning the MI every day? And shouldn't Plouffe and Morneau be playing every day at the corners? And shouldn't Hicks, Arcia and Parmelee by playing every day in the outfield? What more do any of those players have to prove by sitting on the bench/playing in Rochester? ALL of those players are more important to the Twins long-term success and health than Bernier, yet Bernier continues to get AB's.
  4. Best Case Scenario 4 years. 2014 in A, 2015 in A+/AA, 2016 in AA/AAA, 2017 in MLB. IF all of them make it, and at this point, the odds are more likely that none of them do than all of them do, it will be in the 2017 to 2019 range.
  5. How much longer will "Blackie" continue to take up starts? If he's giving up more than a hit an inning against 18 and 19 year olds in their first taste of Pro Ball, I shudder to think what would happen in the Bigs, which is the only place he could be of any value.
  6. I thought he went to the GCL, but he has yet to make an appearance. When is he going to throw a pitch in a game that counts?
  7. Because K's are not the end-all, be-all of pitching. They require a pitcher to throw more pitches, therefore limiting their innings, and when you have a shaky bullpen, that's not a good thing. Of the Tiger's pitchers, Fister is 54th in pitches per PA, and every other Tiger SP is 80th or worse (Scherzer at 80, Sanchez at 82, Porcello at 84, Verlander at 92). While K's may be an indicator of consistency, and might be a consistent 6 innings. In my opinion, you're just as well off having guys who produce ground balls, keep the ball in the park when they don't, and induce weak contact.
  8. Odds that every single Twins affiliate finish .500 or better this year? I have to think its pretty good.
  9. There is no reason to keep Hicks in AAA. He needs to be in the bigs, getting AB's, and if that means Clete Thomas collects splinters, so be it. Hicks and Arcia are foundational players for our next wave, and should not be messed with. Also, when will some of the other Cedar Rapids guys go to Fort Myers? In particular, Polanco and Hicks.
  10. Granted, the point was simply that Houston didn't think he'd be a starter, and he then turned into the best starter of the mid '00's.
  11. Johan Santana says hello.
  12. I blame IdahoPilgrim. He jinxed Diamond AND put negativity into the universe at the same time.
  13. Is it safe to say the cement has finally settled?
  14. I see. So if Escobar was still on the South Side, the White Sox would be running away with the Central. Good to know.
  15. Dozier being kept busy so far.
  16. If you proposed Arcia for Kershaw to the Dodgers, straight up, they'd laugh at you, hang up the phone, then call you back so they could laugh at you some more. Getting Kershaw right now, the conversation would START with Sano and Buxton.
  17. My sources have told me that the issue with Santana is focus, in that he doesn't make the routine plays. If so, and if Gardy is still the manager, I GUARANTEE Santana will not start for long, anywhere on the field.
  18. A guy who is a 3 means he is one of the 75 best SP's in the league at the time. If the 23rd pitcher taken in this year's draft turns into that, I think you're in pretty good shape. Not to mention, if he comes in a Gibson-Meyer wave, he would be our number 3, and would potentially be our number 5 when a Stewart-Berrios-May wave hits. All in all, this is a good pick if it works out, and at this point, who knows if that will happen.
  19. Because the hitter can do a good job of taking pitches that will be balls, and fouling off pitches that he can't square up, rather than putting them into play. To suggest that all walks are completely the result of pitching is utter nonsense.
  20. MWL All-Star game is on June 18. I would expect Buxton to be batting leadoff on June 19 or 20 in Fort Myers. He probably won't get to share the field with Sano, however, as the FSL All-Star game is on the 15th. The only way he would is if the Twins brass wants to start Sano off in New Britain, and not on the road, as the Cats have a 9-game road trip from the 18th through the 26th..
  21. Love that you guys started with Start Shootin' by Little People, great jam!
  22. If by respectable numbers, referring to Robertson, you mean a guy with a 1.84 WHIP and 16 BB in 20.2 IP, than I guess our definitions of respectable vary greatly. As for why they didn't bring up Benson, I would imagine it had something to do with his .192/.256/.285 slash, along with 50 K's in 151 AB's, with only 1 homer. Again, if that screams "I deserve a promotion to the show, even if only to provide depth on the bench" to you, I think you and I are at an impasse.
  23. Eddie's been flying under the radar ever since Sano joined the organization, and even more so once Buxton was drafted last year, but he might be my favorite prospect. I'm hoping he starts to get some national attention, as he should be a top 50-75 type prospect by next year.
  24. A Sano-Bryant-Vargas-Walker middle of the lineup would be 4 guys with legit 70 power, with Harrison not too far off. There's obviously no way to get all those guys in the lineup at the same time, but if they develop, any of the 5 would be attractive trading chips for pitching. That being said, unless the Astros indeed take Moran, this will probably be a moot point.
  25. Buxton, at 19 and in low A, is already being considered the number 2 prospect in all of baseball by some. He is a multi-year All-Star, with potential to have MVP type years, and make the HOF (not saying he will, but the talent and work ethic is there). Those types of players don't come along every year, so I think every Twins fan should be ecstatic with having Buck in the system.
