  1. My final rejoinder. Nick Gordon has a .639 OPS at AAA. Lamonte Wade is at .703. Both are worse than Jake Cave's .711 in MLB. Maybe they started in AA because the FO didn't think they were quite ready for AAA yet. I was referring to only the lineup, but since you bring him up, Gonsalves has a 4.56 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and is walking more than 6 batters per 9. I agree with you on the bullpen, I want Moya/Curtiss/Reed up yesterday, but when you struggle to score more than 2 runs, a great bullpen isn't going to move the needle a ton. The front office has been forced to turn to replacement players due to everyone not named Ed or Jose struggling. While they can certainly change the names on the back of the jerseys, just getting different replacement level players probably isn't going to turn us into a good team.
  2. I'm not saying injuries is the excuse for the performance. I'm saying injuries are the excuse for the largely terrible 5-9 hitters in today's lineup. Much of that would be irrelevant if Dozier, Mauer, Kepler, and Sano hadn't all taken steps/leaps backwards this year
  3. The Mariners pythag record is 42-39--their success is being driven by a historic record in one run games, not Dee Gordon's .660 OPS. The Dodgers are as big market as its gets, and have much more cash to replace injured players. If the system has no one in AAA, isn't that more of an indictment against the previous regime, for not doing a better job of scouting/development in the previous 4/5 years, which is the amount of time you would expect solid but not great prospects to move through the levels?
  4. I mean, to be fair, Adrianza is starting because Polanco got himself popped for PED's, which is also why Motter is on the team. Wilson is here because Castro got hurt. Cave is here because Buxton has been hurt/terrible (besides which he is 25 and only has 25 career AB's), and Morrison was a perfectly fine signing that has cratered in a way no one could have foreseen. I'm as frustrated as anyone, but it's not exactly easy to park quality 3rd catchers/5th outfielders/backup utility infielders at AAA.
  5. Yes, this is a getaway game, but the Twins batters are aware they don't have to get on a plane, and can therefore take their time in batting, right?
  6. If the Sox are not swinging at the high heat just above the zone, this is going to be a long game.
  7. The White Sox apparently are having a reunion for their 1993 team this year. That seems ridiculous, as that team didn't even make the World Series that year, let alone win it. Why not celebrate the 2008 team, which accomplished exactly as much? Or more logically, just wait two years for the 15 year anniversary of the 2005 team that actually did do something.
  8. Bold challenge by the White Sox here--a two out double isn't a bunch of upside. Then again, one run beats this Twins lineup, so why not.
  9. Fox runs a promo for Girls on the Run. I find that horribly discriminatory. Not all girls want to run.
  10. Matt Davidson has 92 k's now, in 212 AB's. That makes even Miguel Sano blush. <checks fangraphs> Never mind.
  11. What in the world is Jacob Cave doing swinging first pitch?
  12. How closely related are West Cost math and California math? Maybe a two thirds overlap?
  13. Of course the MLB app craps out on the day the Twins are the free game of the day.
  14. I get swinging on 3-1, regardless of who's pitching. But it's like Morneau said on the broadcast; on 3-1, narrow your strike zone to the size of a milk bottle. Adrianza narrowed it to the size of a keg.
  15. I was one of those advocating re-signing Mauer--at the end of April when he had an OPS north of .800. Now? Let's put Mauer's 23 and Lynn's 12 towards signing Manny Machado.
  16. I like Morrison's Thome-esque pose before settling into his stance. Unfortunately, I think 40-something Thome would be a better option right now than Morrison.
  17. Aww, cute matching blue polos for Dick and Justin.
  18. Wilson gets the nod in a day game after a night game, and despite the fact against righties he slashes .148/.186/.259 compared to Garver's .276/.343/.398. It's like Molitor wants to get fired.
  19. Our Twins 1. Robert Grossman 2. Edmund Rosario 3. Eddo Escobar 4. Bri Dozier 5. Lo Morrison 6. Eh Adrianza 7. Jacob Cave 8. Tay Motter 9. Robert Wilson The Dirty Cheating South-siders 1. Yo Moncada 2. Avi Garcia 3. Jo Abreu 4. Matthew Davidson 5. Kev Smith 6. Yole Sanchez 7. Timothy Anderson 8. Charles Tilson 9. Ad Engel
  20. I’m sure they would know more than me, just makes me nervous is all.
  21. Royce Lewis is only 19, and a cornerstone of this organization’s future. Why is he playing through a knee issue at low A?
  22. 7 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings doesn't quite qualify as good for me. Decent, to be sure, but not good.
  23. What did Magill ever do to Molitor? Also, the Belisle signing looks like a gigantic error right now.
