  1. Per Pioneer Press Justin Morneau's letter to the Fans. First of all, I would like to say thank you to all of the Twins fans. I would also like to thank the Minnesota Twins organization for giving me a chance to realize my dream of being a Major League baseball player. I was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in 1999. Since that day I have been very proud and fortunate to call myself a Minnesota Twin. I was a wide-eyed 22 year kid when I made my big league debut in 2003. I received a warm welcome that day and have felt welcomed ever since. I feel like I was a kid when I first got here, but was able to grow up in this organization and become someone my friends and family could be proud of. My wife, kids and family are Minnesotans and this has become my second home. Minnesotans are some of the kindest, most genuine people I have ever met. I am sorry that during my time here we weren't able to achieve our ultimate goal of winning the World Series, but I will forever carry many wonderful memories of my time here. I will always cherish every day I was lucky enough to play in front of you fans in a Minnesota uniform. Thank you for all of your support throughout the years. 2. There are 17 home games left in September. Over 400 thousand Fans will be coming to Target Field next month. Taking Morneau off the field for nothing is an insult to those Fans. They deserve to see some resemblance of an entertaining product. They do not have the option of turning to the Travel Chanel after the third inning.
  3. Do you really want to hold up the Wild as an example? Didn't the Wild sign the top two free agents last year for big money???
  4. Isn't Plouffe the only remaining member of the Fun Bunch?
  5. The Twins will be 50 million dollars below the 2011 payroll. Should Money really be an issue? Unfortunately, Ryan and the Pohlad's will probably make it an issue.
  6. It will be very important to have a Mentor for these young players. You can put Sano at the top of the list. You can't put a number to it, but this is something that is very much needed.
  7. "They need to do something, it's not even August and people are already talking about Gopher Football." Little Big League 1994
  8. One time at the old Met, the Twins had Halter top day. Yes you guessed it, Twins was plastered on the front.
  9. The Blonde to the left of home plate is going to be a distraction.
  10. It will be hard for the Twins to get the payroll under 60 million unless they have a cheap Bullpen. A very important factor for this Organization.
  11. With the firing of First Base Coach Jerry White, most Folks believed that the Twins could have gone on to win 80 games.
  12. In the past, a number of Players have benefited from a second trip to the minors. Hunter, Span, Revere, Hawkins, Morneau among others.
  13. Isn't T.C. Bear the Mascot. I did hear some rumors that T.C was going to the Saints for the Pig.
  14. "Your always window shopping but never stopping to buy" 1967 Billboard Hit Georgy Girl The Twins have a knack for getting their name into the mix. As Reusse states, they usually find a reason to drop out.
  15. I'm surprise we haven't seen, " It's easy to spend someone else's money!" or "What right do we have telling the Pohlad's how to spend their money!" The Forum is evolving in a positive direction.
  16. In February of 1991, Jack Morris signed a contract which would bring him to the last place Minnesota Twins. Morris was coming off two mediocre seasons with Detroit. This did not stop Twins GM Andy MacPhail from making Morris the second highest paid Player in the American League and the fifth highest paid Player in all of Baseball. At the time, it could be argued that the Twins were grossly overpaying Morris. Macphail realized that overpaying a Player to fill a need may at times be necessary. Does Ryan subscribe to this train of thought? Would there have been a 1991 Championship if Ryan was the GM?

  19. Actually, the opening day payroll came in at 76 million. Why is this relevant? This figure puts the Twins near some pre target field payrolls. The Twins payroll now rest in the bottom third of the League. MLB Salaries - CBSSports.com 2007 Baseball Payrolls, List - MLB - ESPN
  20. I actually sympathize with Gardenhire. Ryan handed him a truck load of trash this year. If Gardenhire goes , Ryan needs to follow.
  21. To h#ll with the Fans who have bought tickets to see the Twins play at Target Field.
  22. If we want to get the payroll under 60 million next year, Morneau will have to come off the books.
  23. Just a few months ago, Thielbar was a prospect himself. Up to now, he has made a big splash in the Majors. Should we really trade him for yet another prospect?? A spinning Wheel that will never end.

  25. The Twins could get a good prospect for Caleb Thielbar. Heck, the Twins only paid a few thousand dollars to Mike Veck to get him. (Sarcasm Alert)
