  1. Estimate Value of Twins Franchise (forbes) 1984 purchase price 44 million 2008 328 million 2012 578 million The Pohlad's will make a nice profit if they ever decide to sell. I personally hope that they sell. This Franchise needs a new culture.
  2. Two years ago, I was watching Thielbar at Midway Stadium, quite a story. Mark Hamburger is another live arm who is on the Saints roster this year. I hope the Twins are taking a close look.
  3. A lot of Fans believe that Terry Ryan is inept?? I must have missed the memo.
  4. Even the top Manager in the game may bring in extra help when he needs it.
  5. Fans have always paid something for food and drink. Coming early to watch the pregame drills is another matter. Maybe the Wild should start charging for their pregame Skate.
  6. "Said Twins President Dave St. Peter: "We’re looking at ways to add more access to batting practice, but I’m not sure charging incrementally is the way to go about that. ... It was released before it ever should have been. It’s hard to believe, but it was not pulled Upon further review: Twins cancel $15 batting practice offer | StarTribune.com
  7. Did Gardenhire take a shot at Brunansky in his post game press conference? " I don't get into what Bruno says, he's mathematical" ??
  8. I believe a review of the 81-82 Twins is in order. Please be my Guest. 1982 Minnesota Twins Batting, Pitching, & Fielding Statistics - Baseball-Reference.com 1983 Minnesota Twins Batting, Pitching, & Fielding Statistics - Baseball-Reference.com
  9. A number of publications are listing the Twins payroll at 75-76 million. USA Today | Sports | MLB | Salaries 2013 Baseball Payrolls, List - MLB - CBSSports.com News, Rumors, Scores, Stats, Fantasy Advice
  10. The Criticism towards the Pohlad's has to do with their public role as Baseball Owners. There has been very few comments regarding their affairs outside of Baseball.
  11. Vicious Attacks?? I'm stating what the reality would be in the other Markets. I also believe that the media gives the Twins ownership a softer ride then the other three owners.
  12. Just to put the Payroll issue into perspective CBS Sports Team Act. Payroll Adjustments Tot. Payroll N.Y. Yankees $232,058,561 -$3,062,616 $228,995,945 Los Angeles Dodgers 221,867,195 -5,564,286 216,302,909 Philadelphia 170,353,189 -10,774,975 159,578,214 Boston 152,028,000 6,939,286 158,967,286 Detroit 146,989,500 2,057,344 149,046,844 San Francisco 140,180,333 2,000,000 142,180,333 Los Angeles Angels 128,165,250 14,000,000 142,165,250 Texas 114,322,600 12,874,975 127,197,575 Chicago White Sox 120,065,277 4,000,000 124,065,277 Toronto 118,527,800 -283,761 118,244,039 St. Louis 116,202,085 500,000 116,702,085 Washington 114,194,270 -1,762,500 112,431,770 Cincinnati 111,254,462 -688,734 110,565,728 Chicago Cubs 103,550,726 600,000 104,150,726 Baltimore 90,293,333 1,500,000 91,793,333 Milwaukee 88,753,366 2,250,000 91,003,366 Arizona 90,650,500 -492,000 90,158,500 Atlanta 89,496,526 -208,333 89,288,193 New York Mets 71,943,054 16,933,979 88,877,033 Seattle 74,705,043 9,590,909 84,295,952 Cleveland 76,267,300 6,250,000 82,517,300 Kansas City 80,741,725 -250,000 80,491,725 Minnesota 75,312,500 250,000 75,562,500 Colorado 74,899,071 550,000 75,449,071 San Diego 68,189,900 3,500,000 71,689,900 Oakland 63,994,500 4,582,500 68,577,000 Pittsburgh 80,055,000 -13,765,476 66,289,524 Tampa Bay 55,955,272 1,075,000 57,030,272 Miami 32,121,900 7,500,000 39,621,900 Houston 18,707,800 5,620,738 24,328,538 2013 Baseball Payrolls, Preliminary List - MLB - CBSSports.com News, Rumors, Scores, Stats, Fantasy Advice
  13. When any Franchise cuts close to 40 million dollars off their payroll in just two years, fingers are going to be pointed towards the Owner. For some reason, there is a hands off the Pohlad's policy in this Town.
  14. Last October, Ryan stated that the Bullpen was his second highest priority. Its to bad that the Twins can no longer go out and sign a reliable Bullpen Arm. Small Market Teams cannot do this.
  15. Mike Bern Berardino reports that the actual opening day payroll will be about 73 million. I believe that Blackburn's salary is being counted, even though he is not on the 40 man roster. Even an 81 million payroll is smoke and mirrors. Minnesota Twins' projected Opening Day payroll: $81 million - TwinCities.com
  16. The off season has showed, that the Twins are again operating as a small market team. Most of the low cost moves made for the Big Club are similar to the the moves Ryan made back at the Dome. It Didn't take long, did it.?
  17. Scholarships may be harder to come by this year.. Unfortunately, it appears that Tyler Robertson may receive one.
  18. Lets see, Souhan has stated that he likes 90% of the moves that Ryan has made during the off Season. A few days later, Souhan writes about how the Twins pitching staff is a total mess. I believe Ryan stated last October, Pitching was going to be his number one priority. But again, the Twins make a lot of promises during Season Ticket renewal time.
  19. This topic was brought up by the Media and is fair game. Brooks makes some good points. I guess cheap shots still exist on this forum.
  20. I am one of the few who believes that the WBC is a bad idea and a meaningless Tournament. 1 Many Pitchers are working themselves into shape and are not 100% 2 Many Players are altering their spring training routines, which may affect their early regular season performance. Glenn Perkins has stated, that he has rushed his spring training preparation. How will we feel if he starts the Season less effective? 3 David Wright returns to the Mets Injured. He may not be ready for opening day. (who pays his salary?) I wonder how Mets Fans feel? Twins farm hand Deolis Guerra comes back with a blood clot in his shoulder which lands him in intensive care at a Ft. Myers Hospital. 4 Many of the best USA Players choose to remain in their spring training camps. So what does this Tournament really prove? Can anybody name the Silver Medal Team from the last WBC?? NO PEEKING. A Baseball Tournament similar to the Olympic Hockey Tournament would be a different story. The mid season schedule could be suspended for two weeks. The players would be in top form. Many more would participate. We would truly see a great and meaningful Tournament. Unfortunately this will never happen.
  21. Morneau is in the middle of this mess. Any Worries?? Is this worth the risk for a meaningless Tournament?
  22. Justin Morneau was in the middle of that mess. No worries right.???
  23. This is the Man who saved Twins Baseball for all of us, Judge Harry Crump. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_evoBtXXWMAc/Ro18PMN0wQI/AAAAAAAAAE8/mBtteGnzXj8/s1600/crump.gif The Pohlad's did everything they could to liquidate the Twins and cash in on a big pay day. Judge Crump blocked them. If the Pohlad's had been successful, this thread along with Twins Daily would not exist. I am thankful for judge Crump. I have not forgiven the Pohlad's.
