  1. I'm calling it now: Jorge Polanco's slump is so over. The guy is raking and having fun again. Looks like the ballplayer we thought he was this spring. Good to see.
  2. A Big Sexy win for the Minnesota Twins. Skol!
  3. One guy I wish could relax and enjoy himself is Taylor Rogers. He's always so tense on the mound, he doesn't look like he's enjoying himself. If I saw him tossing a ball to himself on the mound, that would be tre cool.
  4. Colon brings the enjoyment of the game with him. I hope to see other Twins players fully enjoying their baseball, the simple pleasures of tossing a ball around, figuring out clever plays, etc.
  5. Okay, I'm officially on Big Sexy Wagon. The man knows how to have fun playing baseball. He tosses the ball to himself on the mound, taps his glove to the cheesy stadium organ, toys with professional hitters like he's always two steps ahead of them. Moar Big Sexy!
  6. Improvements in Byron Buxton's game are going to be gradual and incremental. As an athlete he is supremely gifted physically, but he does not have the baseball.exe program running in his head. He will continue to refine subtle aspects of the game, from just the right weight shift and plan at the plate, to timing a pitcher's move to home before he steals. Fortunately, he appears to be a very hard worker, but it will be a process that will take several years. At the end of that process, Buxton will be a very dominant ballplayer.
  7. ...but he does need to take his walks.
  8. Haven't seen Miguel really rip a baseball in a game lately.
  9. "Rosario had a three-homer game this June, but tonight was the first two-homer game of his career." Dang it, he's getting worse! ;-)
  10. This is why I love watching Eddie Rosario. Who else on this team has the stuff to pull off that gambit, starting with a rocket line drive over the RF's head? Only Rosario. Mauer might drive a double, but he wouldn't induce a balk. Neither would Kepler. Polanco can't hit the ball that hard. The only guy that's got the physical talent, the baseball savvy, plus the cajones gigantes to pull off that stunt is Eddie Rosario.
  11. "Belisle answered the call and got the job done." The North remembers. Don't we?
  12. RIP. Cool dude if ever there was one. Great ballplayer, inspiring team leader.
  13. I did see a camera shot of Colon chatting up Mejia late in the game. It was like he was showing him it's possible to go deep in games without killer stuff.
  14. Maybe the best thing about Colon's start is how he's discussing it with Mejia. If I can do it, so can you, kid...
  15. Despite my objections, I congratulate Big Sexy for keeping the Rangers in check. Good game, Bart.
  16. Free-swinging team meets cagey veteran with a variety of slow stuff. I've seen this movie many times. I'd still rather see Slegers debut. Or Gonsalves, or Romero, or Hurlbut...
  17. Bartolo Colon has read all the unwritten rules. Rangers better not dig in.
  18. So, if Big Sexy comes out for the 7th... what's the leash? Two hits and a walk? One run?
  19. Damn, same spot on Sano's hand as a week ago. Pain.
  20. Shaping up to be an average Colon start. Gets by for a few innings, then BOOM.
  21. Buxton's arm: Am I the only one not seeing the plus tool we were promised? So far Buxton's throws have not impressed me as above average either in velocity or accuracy. Rosario has the best OF arm, then Kepler, then Buxton.
  22. Dozier's got a lot of catching up to do. Maybe it starts today!
  23. Just five more runs, and I'll feel good about Colon's chances.
  24. I think Polanco has lost a little sting in his swing. He should keep the bat head back longer, more like Rosario does. Right now Polanco's bat head is coming around too early, which means he doesn't get much outward snap, which means the barrel isn't traveling as fast as it could or staying square through the hitting zone as long as it could. A round, slap swing is never going to be as powerful or effective as an outward snap-and-carry swing, like Rosario, Morneau or Kepler.
