  1. It is I who thank you for managing the site, providing superior content every day, and connecting all of us Twins fans together far and wide (even those of us in enemy territory!). Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the Twins Daily family!
  2. Wow, still can't believe the Jack Morris classic was 25 years ago. That entire series was wild..... I must be up front, I'm a Twins fan living in Chicago so I don't follow the other Minnesota teams very much. I'd agree 100% with Towns as #1. That's a mega-star in the making. I'd put Buxton as #2, and I grant that it was a small sample size, but I base that on the September he had. The 103 losses hurt, but watching him put together that month made me feel a little bit better. As much as I like his on field ability/potential, I like his attitude just as much. Seems very focused and well prioritized for someone so young. I even comitted to buying a Buxton shirsey, so I guess Gleeman would call me a Buxton bobo........
  3. Do you think the front office is hesitant to send Park down because it would be an admittance of failure of their only off season signing? Otherwise, he probably should have been sent down already. Besides 1b/DH types didn't strike me as an offseason need anyway.
  4. If the idea is to restructure the front office, I would think Ryan and St. Peter both go. In order to usher in a "New Era" I think new people should be at the head of that restructuring.
  5. If the end result was Buxton and Kepler in AAA, maybe they should have kept Carlos Quentin?
  6. Unfortunately this is the structure of MLB contracts. Look at what Madison Bumgarner is making and imagine what he will be paid when his current deal expires. Will he be worth what he will be making in the last 3 years of that deal? Maybe, but probably not. He will be paid based on what he's done in the years leading up to the next contract. The Twins could not let Mauer leave and thus gave him a deal that ensured he would likely retire a Twin.
  7. I'll say under. I don't like that pitching staff at all.
  8. I'd have to also say under. Considering the other teams in the division, I don't see how they finish above .500. I'll say 77-85
  9. At one point, does the return for Plouffe become irrelevant if moving him, and moving Sano to 3b improves the lineup substantially?
  10. OK.....I'm about to tick off the lady in charge of stocking the printer with paper in this school......Too bad Lady! It's Offseason Handbook time!
  11. Just made my purchase. I'm looking forward to the release. Only wish there was a Postseason portion to read about, but I think that will be in future editions for sure!
  12. The 2015 season was fun, and what made following the Twins so much fun for me was Twins Daily and Gleeman & the Geek. Living in another state (an enemy one nonetheless...) makes it harder to follow my favorite team, but this site was my absolute every day, multiple times a day, go to source for news, insight and the chance to converse with fellow Twins fans. Thank you, John, and thanks to everyone involved with this site. I'm sad that 2015 is over, but can't wait for what the hot stove season and the 2016 season is going to bring........
  13. I really enjoyed this article. Thanks so much, John! I am making it my goal for the week to make the phrase "clutch-errific clutchiness" a part of my vocabulary!
  14. I too despise the wave and am pleased others agree. I enjoyed this piece very much. I liked too the point about dumb chants. Here in the Chicago suburbs we have an AHL hockey team ( Chicago Wolves) and whenever the Wolves score a goal the fans chant "(insert opposing goalie name here) 3x" then "YOU SUCK!" I hate that too.....
  15. I like the red unis. Feels like an attempt at a slump buster.
  16. I hate mowing the lawn every week. But I mow while listening to the Gleeman and the Geek podcast and it makes my work so much easier. Best podcast around!
  17. My sentiments exactly. I was planning on not watching the game and trying to guess when Perkins was put in, but I'm all in now. Watching the announcement fromTarget Field on TV was a great moment to see. Can't imagine how cool it would have been to have seen it in person. I hope both Dozier and Perkins make a difference, both tomorrow and Tuesday!
  18. Guess I have to stop griping about it now.....but
  19. My thumbs hurt from voting.....all for naught. I didn't think I'd be as disappointed as I am about it. As evidenced by some of the extremely well written articles on this site, Brian Dozier is a more than deserving All Star player
  20. As far as I can tell, there are no limits to the amount of votes you can cast so I've been voting Dozier all day!
  21. If Vargas was sent to AA because Chattanooga needs a 1B, then is it safe to assume they aren't playing Kepler at 1b anymore?
  22. Soooo excited. To quote Tibs's avatar...."Whoooooooooo!"
  23. BTW as an English teacher, my above post is shamefully written in terms of spacing and punctuation.......
  24. The pessimist in me keeps looking at the calendar and saying "Its only May." But then another voice says, "Yeah but it's the end of May. Santana is suspended. Hughes hasn't been the Hughes of 2014. Fair share of injuries. And they are only a game out of FIRST! Ahead of the Tigers!" Well said, John, let's enjoy it and not overthink/overstress about it.
