  1. Am i wrong, or does Romero need to make the roster out of Spring Training, aren't all of his options up?
  2. I think that for sure you need to sign at least 2 of these guys, maybe 3, so as to make sure you at least hit on one of them, they should be inexpensive and you won't have to sign any of them long term, probably all 1 year deals with options. Bring them in, let them compete, I mean they have done this before with Anibal Sanchez. They brought him in, he didn't do so well in spring training and then they let him go. He ended up doing well for Atlanta afterwards, but the Twins weren't really out much.
  3. Arraez he was a career 331 hitter in the minors, so he has proven himself as a contact hitter Polanco, is a career 281 hitter and had 40 doubles and 22 hrs last year Cruz, if healthy he is our biggest threat, both average and power Kepler, has a decent on base at .336 if he continues the power surge he will out produce Rosario in the RBI department, and by following Cruz so even see better pitches Sano, classic 5th hitter, tons of power, hard to pitch to after facing Arraez, Polanco, Cruz and Kepler. Rosario, has the tools to produce a lot of runs, a little streaky at times, but good nonetheless Garver, hope he can continue his production from last year and put up big numbers from behind the plate. Gonzalez, has always been a consistent hitter throughout his career, if he can get in a full season, 140 games or so, 30 doubles, 20 HRs and a 270 average is highly obtainable. Buxton, if he continues his positive production that he started out with last year he may move up this list. I mean he was leading the league in doubles at one point last year before all of the injuries. So to have his speed profile at the bottom of the order with Arraez's contact skills coming up behind him would also be a game changer. Predictions Arraez .315 190 hits 302Bs Polanco .285 175 hits 402B 20Hr Cruz .290 145 hits 45Hrs 120RBI Kepler .275 160 hits 30hrs 100rbi Sano .270 40Hrs 90rbi Rosario .280 30hrs 80rbi Garver .270 120hits 30hrs Gonzalez .270 302b 20hrs Buxton .265 130 hits, 15 Hrs Obviously if they sign a guy like Donaldson then Gonzalez will no likely go to the bench, but I don't really feel like predicting what the Twins dont have. To now this is what they have.
  4. What would the projected contract values of Alex Wood and Taijuan Walker be?? Wood made pretty good change for Cincinnati, but I don't think Walker has made very much. Could they get Wood on a 1 year 5 million dollar deal with a club option for a second year at 8 mill? Walker could he be got for 2 years 10 mill? Or am I way too low or too high?
  5. I may be in panic mode, but dang, I am looking at the TV and my phone constantly to see who the Twins are going to get, only to see others getting people. So I am getting a tad bit impatient. However, I know everyone wants the Twins to trade for an elite starting pitcher, but when your team seems to be a non free agent destination, or a lower tear destination, you know, not the first choice then realistically you need to hold on to your athletes that you are producing. It's the only way to win, for the Twins. So I really don't see any big trades happening this winter. I could see a big trade in July, if the Twins are in 1st place etc... Just because at that time the end is close and if we are in the driver's seat then I could see the Twins risking their future at that time, but not right now. So yes I think Walker, Wood, Hill, and a few other guys out there could solidify the rotation enough to get them to July. I just want them to get some **** done soon, so they are ready to go into spring training and ready to attempt to come back and produce. I am getting impatient, I'd like to see something get done soon.
  6. I guess what could we lose if we gave Felix a minor league deal and a spring training invite? What if he lit the league on fire again? Most likely he won't, but then again we wouldn't be out anything either. I'd say this after we get 2 or 3 other guys to compete for rotation spots, such as wood and walker, then add in a sleeper like Felix wouldn't be the worst thing ever.
  7. For that matter Berrios also. I mean he struggled his first time up too. Has pretty much gotten better each year since. Start the process, but limit him to just Pineda being gone and then send him down for the majority of the summer?? I mean look at most starting pitchers don't do well their first times up, Frank Viola comes to mind also.
  8. Well I think, there might be a difference in innings. I think that the innings Grateral would throw in the Majors would maybe be a little more high stress innings. Whereas the innings in AAA or AA might be a little less stress innings. It would probably take Grateral less pitches to throw 5 innings in AA than it would in the Majors. So I would think the Twins would want to limit the stress on a 21 year old. Maybe they give him the first 5 or 6 starts that Pineda will miss, provided that he performs well in Spring Training. Then after Pineda comes back send him down so as to let him dominate and relieve a little stress going the rest of the way? Maybe he pitches 140 - 150 innings but I think he won't have to work so hard to get through the innings in the minors. Maybe just go with Grateral if he looks tough coming out of Spring, ride him and send him down before he gets wore out? 5 - 6 starts, 30 - 35 innings.
  9. Yeah I get it, but they didn't do anything that all of us were hoping for, ie Wheeler, etc... So that is why I started to think about scrap heap guys. Don't get me wrong I would have much rather had Wheeler, but he is gone, so is Betances now also for that matter. It stinks, but have to move on and use the scrap heap guys to get us through this season.
  10. Or use a 6 man rotation until Pineda is back. Then he wouldn't pitch that often.
  11. Now that the main free agents are gone, what should the Twins do? I mean we have all bitched and complained but after awhile we have to get away from that and figure out and hope for some solutions. My thoughts are along the lines of cheap value buys where one or a couple of them bounce back or turn out. The Twins should be able to get these guys real inexpensive and they would only be a stop gap because the Twins will need to develop someone to lead them to the world series. My thoughts are this SP Walker, has pitched in the American league, has been hurt, sign to a one or two year deal. SP Wood, has had a good season or two, has been injured quite frequently as of late, a player that needs to bet on himself. SP Homer Bailey, one year contract, brought in to compete for the 4th or 5th spot in the rotation. Loser out goes and becomes a long man in the BP RP Betances, I feel this would be the Twins one big signing as I think he would be rather expensive, but worth it to help out the back end of the BP 2B Scooter Gennett. He was cut by the Giants, he could be out Schoop type of signing. One year removed from hitting .310 with 20+ HRs Gennett could play 2nd move Arraez to 3rd, Sano to 1st. Or just put Gennett at 1st? He should come relatively cheap. What do you guys think? I know they are all reaches. Berrios Odorizzi Wood Walker Bailey Smeltzer Dobnak Thorpe/Romero BP May Romo Clippard Duffy Little Betances Rogers C Garver 1B Sano 2B Gennett 3B Araez SS Polanco LF Rosario CF Buxton RF Kepler DH Cruz
  12. I don't feel like there is anyway that Tampa gets rid of Snell. Right now they have one of the best rotations in baseball, the team that invented the opener won't be using that strategy next year I don't believe. I'd think if Tampa traded anyone it would be Morton. Right now the rotation looks likeSnell Morton Glasnow Chirinos Yarbrough Mckay Snell is only 27, Glasnow 26, Chirinos is like 25 and Yarbrough is 27. McKay is only 23 and looks to have a very bright future as a possible two way player. To me that leaves Morton at 36 as the guy they'd trade if anyone. Unless of course they get blown away by someone for Snell. Heck the Twins would have to do something big for Morton
  13. However, Boston has won 4 titles since the mid 2000's? Would you be ok if the Twins were a mess right now if they had 4 titles in the last 15 years? I would be.
  14. Yeah get Hill, he has been unbelievable when he is healthy. Prob just need to sit him out until late July and then get like 15 starts out of him to finish the season. Hill when healthy might be better than Berrios. Problem is that he can't stay healthy.
  15. Maybe Romero steps it up this year.
  16. Yeah, I'd be really nervous, with that young controllable lineup with Gurriel, Biggio, Guerrero, Bichette, and now so far they have a rotation of Ryu, Anderson, Roark, Shoemaker, and Thornton. I wouldn't be surprised if Toronto or Chicago beat the Twins out for Price too. I mean look at Chicago's rotation Giolito Gio Gonzalez Keuchel Reynaldo Lopez With Kopech coming off of Tommy John Rodan will come off of Tommy John mid season, And I guess Cease will factor in there somewhere. Not really looking good for the Twins.
  17. Their intent to be to build a better hot dog, because people will be spending a lot of time going to the concession stands with all of the pitching changes that will be happening during games this year.
  18. I guess it would all depend on who they have to give up for that one year and the opportunity to throw a QO at him. Also, remember, not many players accept the QO, so they could be left out in the cold again. Looks like Homer Bailey is starting to look good. I guess if every other girl has turned you down to go to the prom, gotta go and ask the one no one else has asked yet?
  19. So you are going to be following the Yankees now?
  20. I wonder how many teams fans are sitting around right now wondering, I wonder what package we could offer for Berrios?
  21. Every team out there has to be laughing at us right now. Especially Chicago, I'm not very confident that the Twins will even finish in the top 2 of the central division this year.
  22. Yeah, they might have to buy another A ball team to fit them all into the system.
  23. They aren't going to trade for anyone. Teams like the Red Sox are trading guys that have contracts that are too big for "them", think now the twins will have to spend the money and the prospects. I mean, it doesn't do Boston any good to trade someone and eat their contracts, because their goal is to get under the luxury tax.
  24. People run around and complain that gas is too expensive, however, if you decide not to buy any then you're not going to drive anywhere either. So right now market value is what it is. The Twins either need to deal with it or they won't be able to drive to the party.
  25. Right now we are suggesting guys like Nova, a guy the White Sox don't want back, or a guy like Wood someone the Reds don't even want back?? Those guys aren't going to make their former clubs rotation, yet they'd be our #3 for the first 40 games. There is a problem. I mean might as well bring back Perez?
