  1. Where are getting the Profit since 2007? Forbes doesn't list profit, the list operating income which is NOT profit.
  2. As has been mentioned, Alex Presley was claimed by the Astros. In other news, both Parmelee and Diamond cleared waivers and have been outrighted to AAA. Diamond hasn't decided whether to accept the assignment or become a Free Agent. With these moves the roster is set: Starting 9: 1B Mauer 2B Dozier SS Florimon 3B Plouffe C Suzuki LF Willingham CF Hicks RF Arcia DH Kubel Bench: Pinto, Escobar, Colabello, Bartlett SP: Nolasco, Correia, Hughes, Pelfrey, Gibson RP: Swarzak, Deduno, Fien, Thielbar, Duensing, Burton, Perkins
  3. This was announced on Tuesday. That was the deadline to inform him that he made the roster, release him or pay him a $100k retention bonus. Guerrier had the same deadline and they released him and re-signed him to a new minor league deal.
  4. I agree that Kubel is in. Interesting thought on Arcia.
  5. It appears that was an opt out date for Bartlett, there is no Retention Bonus associated with it as with Guerrier and Kubel.
  6. There is a difference between Guerrier (same with Kubel) and Barlett. Guerrier needed to be notified by tomorrow if he was making the MLB roster and if not would've had to been release or paid $100k retention bonus. Since Bartlett was out of baseball last year, the veteran retention bonus doesn't apply to him.
  7. You are right, we just don't know what this team is going to do offensively (other than Mauer of course). Was last year a fluke for both Dozier and Willingham? Can Plouffe find consistency? Has Hicks, Arcia, Parmelee and Colabello figured out ML pitching? Will Kubel perform like 2012 or 2013? Are they going to be the team that scored 700 runs in 2012 or the one that scored 600 in 2013.
  8. While I agree that Colabello should head North, he is the one most likely to get optioned just because the can with out risking losing anybody.
  9. I agree with this. If Kubel and/or Parmelee stink it up we can cut bait and bring up Colabello. I recall Diamond be okay once through the order and gets shelled the 2nd through. Maybe he can establish himself as a reliever. The only problem with this is that the bullpen will be made up of 3 Long Relievers (Swarzak, Deduno and Diamond).
  10. That's Ryan Pressly the Rule 5 pitcher that we acquired last year that got optioned not Alex Pressley the OF. Right now the Twins' have 16 position players and 13 pitchers in camp. So it looks like it is between Diamond and Thielbar for the last pitcher spot in the BP. Rohlfing is just in camp to help out so it is between Kubel, Parmelee, Colabello and Bartlett for 2 spots.
  11. Twins optioned Herrmann, Pressly and Tonkin. That leaves 29 in camp.
  12. At the time our 40-man roster was full. So by signing him to a minor league contract even though he was guaranteed to make the roster it gave them several months to open up a spot for him.
  13. Correct. On the Twins' website they state that he cleared waivers and was outrighted to AAA, so that opens up 1 spot on the 40-man roster.
  14. Well according to Twins article about the rain out, Worley was scheduled to start today and will start tomorrow.
  15. Right now it looks like Willingham, Hicks and Arcia will be the starters with Presley the 4th OF. Parmelee and Colabello are mirror images of each other. It seems to me they are ideal platoon players as the both are OF,1B,DH players and just bat opposite.
  16. The CBA prevents teams from doing this. A player's salary can only decrease 20% from one year to the next.
  17. I don't think that would still be allowed.
  18. I believe this is not allowed per the CBA. While the CBA doesn't limit pay increases it does put a limit on pay cut's. I believe a current player's salary can only decrease 20% from one year to the next.
  19. You Are correct. For some reason I thought we were playing the Orioles today instead of the Marlins.
  20. Don't forget Joe Benson
  21. Probably not. But Sano needs work on his fielding. Delaying the surgery would further delay his development.
  22. No Offense Brock, but most players make an out over 70% of the time.
  23. While .300 may be average, Mauer has a career average of .349 for BABIP. In fact he has never been below .300 and the only time he was .300 was his rookie season. Other than that his low is .319, which he did twice. Since Mauer doesn't hit a lot of home Runs or Strike Out, he will have a high BABIP as those are the "negatives" in the formula.
  24. One Question, who will serve as the backup 1B to fill in when Mauer isn't starting?
  25. Isn't it common to keep 2 bench infielders? A typical 25 man roster is made up of 12 pitchers, 8 starting position players, 1 DH and 4 reserves. The reserves are usually 1 catcher, 1 OF, and 2 IF
