  1. I do believe that belongs in the (not so) fun with numbers thread.
  2. and with that, Gibson lowers his ERA by a half a run...
  3. woah... Gibby with a swinging strike...
  4. In other news, the Vikings traded up in the second round to grab a RB... Dalvin Cook.
  5. I'd probably avoid Jose Mesa all together. We have enough problems with choking as it is. Don't want him getting any influence on the bottom half of our rotation or that abomination that is the pen.
  6. Will the real Scott Stahoviak please stand up? Please stand up.
  7. not that I'd use the power for evil, but if I had a super power, I'd like to have Kilgrave's mind control abilities...
  8. anyone know how fast Wells throws? Genuinely curious here. Those K rates are impressive. He's pretty much league average in terms of his age, but could see himself a bump to high A at some point this year if he keeps it up. I find it interesting that he's pitched better in the pros than he did in college. I expect that to an extent in rookie ball, but I wouldn't expect that in A ball.
  9. A .567 OPS in 260ish at bats which ended in an injury will do that to you. That said, this is looking like the 2015 version of Palacios, which if true will put him in the top 10 pretty easily.
  10. I think the Twins should extend him, but 6/35 seems a bit light... I'd have no problems bumping up those numbers to make it work. Ideally, I'd like to see him in a Twins uniform for more than just the next 6 years.
  11. got to say that Buck is looking better the last few days... hoping something has clicked and he gets a nice little hot streak going.
  12. Turly is org filler. 27 and in AA. Not against pushing him up if something clicks, but I think it's going to be more than a couple starts for that to happen.
  13. Just curious where you think he might go. That's another guy I'd love to see the Twins take, especially if he's not a first rounder.
  14. If they are saving money to use and get another guy who would normally go higher, I'm fine with it... If they save money to save the Polhads some cash, not so much. There's nothing wrong with using slot savings to toss at a higher ceiling guy that they can force into a later round. It's a great way to strengthen the system. As for me, I think I'm pretty firmly in the McKay camp after reading Jeremy's writeup. If the difference between the two isn't all that much, I think the much higher floor is without question valuable, and if it comes with a cap savings, even better.
  15. There's always demand for pitching at the deadline, and if Santana continues to pitch well, he's going to be one of the top names if not the most coveted option, so I don't think too many sellers is the issue at hand at least for Ervin. I do agree though that you don't move him for someone projected to be a 3. I think Brock's request is fairly reasonable unless something happens that destroys his value.
  16. yeah, I've got to think that if he's pitching well and the team is out of it that he gets moved in July. That would be a smart move, but no question that SP depth is an issue at the moment. May is hurt and Duffey is in the pen. Gonsalves has yet to pitch. That leaves Berrios/Mejia. Honestly, right now our SP depth is Wheeler and Sleegers. Neither are on the 40 man, but I'd bet that one of them will be at some point later this year.
  17. Last season, he got off to a nice start and had an .800 OPS into August.. He really cooled off after that. I wonder how much of that is still getting used to playing baseball as a career. He's got reputation for being a very good hitter, so what I want to see more than anything is him just not cool off this year and maintain a decent pace. He strikes me as a guy who can OPS in the .800s pretty consistently, which out of SS is pretty nice.
  18. 2015, in my opinion, is simply proof that we shouldn't write him off as a starter... just yet. 2016 had injury issues, not to mention he lost his ability to locate his FB. That would have been a problem for him in the pen too. So far this year, his FB issues seem to be resolved. As I've said before, I'm not against it if his final destination is the pen, but I think it would be very unwise to close the book on him starting at this point. It's not like we have a rotation of Cy Young candidates forcing him to the pen.
  19. I prefer to drink the vodka... sacrificing it is well... quite the sacrifice.
  20. yeah, we need to sacrifice a chicken to Jobu...
