    strikes me more as a baby steps approach. Fixing Buxton at the plate is like trying to eat an elephant. Rowson is looking at some easy things to reduce pop ups and get Buxton hitting the ball harder. As Byron gets comfortable, I suspect there will be more minor tweaks to get him elevating the ball a bit more. If we want him at the ML level, we are going to have to put up with that and be patient.

    I don't remember where, but Bob (I think) mentioned the other day that his defense was behind his offense and that he wasn't the best defender on his team. I don't know if that as a high compliment to someone else or indication that Lewis needed more work there.

    If I could get a couple of good young arms, one of which I could plug into the rotation right away, I'd consider making the trade. But why would a team who had an ML ready good young arm want to trade that away when they could plug that arm into the rotation? If we want ML ready pitching, Dozier, Grossman, or Kintzler are likely the guys to get it. Don't get me wrong, I'd trade ESan for the right offer, I just don't see him bringing in the pitching we need.

    From what I've read, movement isn't his problem. Hitters have a tough time squaring up on him, but at the same time, they don't whiff either. Stewart is very much an enigma. Here's to hoping this start is the first of a string of starts where he gets some Ks.

    I would argue that you could set yourself up for 2018 but trading Dozier for a pitcher that is ready now. Might be a kid in AAA. That may be a wash in 2017, but a win for 2018. I don't see how trading Santana would be a win for 2018.

    Polanco has no options left... That said, Hildenberger has certainly been encouraging. Hasn't given up a run yet. Walk rate a bit high in SSS, but so far he looks like he's going to be staying a while.

    I think it's control/command they are looking for. His last couple starts have shown that, but it was fairly shaky when he started. I think Stephen will be in Rochester fairly soon.

    The ultimate answer to a guy like Escobar is an issue of velocity vs. acceleration. It's a calculus problem at the end of the day. Top end velocity is one thing, but you have to combine it with fast acceleration. Buxton has both. I'm guessing a guy like Escobar might be missing something in the acceleration category (along with say poorer instincts or a poor lead) making that minor split second of a difference a really big one when the catcher is firing a much faster throw to 2nd or 3rd.

    Personal cheeseball to keep an eye on, but Tademo is a SS who is only 17 in the GCL after doing pretty well in the DSL at 16. That will be a fun one to follow.

    Given that Romero will at some point be shut down due to innings, the pen actually does make sense. He may learn a thing or two and collect a major league check for a couple months. Not a bad deal. Gonsalves appears most ready, but I don't see him (or any of them really) skipping AAA. I suspect some moves are made at some point (with Gonsalves likely the first to book a flight), but I don't think all 3 get sent to Rochester.

    I know the ERA looks nice, but I find it really tough to get excited about Jorge. He's striking out 6.4/9IP in AA, and while he's young, we aren't talking as young as Gonsalves or Romero. I do think that Jorge and Gonsalves (in particular) should be headed to Rochester in the next week or two, but other than 40 man adds at the end of the year, I don't see either in MN other than that September cup of coffee.

    Kolton Kendrick has an OPS of 2.100 and a four figure ISO... I think we need to expect that out of him every day...
