  1. Navarretto was pulled from FTM tonight. I'd be fine if it was him for the record, though the team is a bit thin at catching depth. That said, I think that's more coincidental. I would think Atlanta would want more than him.
  2. Not sure I'd sell on Blankenhorn, that's probably too much to give up... It sounds like it isn't too expensive... is it too much to hope they ship Gibson off with him?
  3. I actually think this is a great idea. He's a rotation upgrade and wont' cost much other than cash. It's not my money, but you can keep the farm system in tact and get a big piece that would be of immense help right now.
  4. Samardzija would be an upgrade though. If cheap, I'm fine acquiring that. I doubt the Giants would be looking to get out of a bad contract though... then again, the results look a lot like Nolasoco. High K rates, but the rest of the stats never caught up.
  5. Rortvedt, might be the best comp, and he's on the JRM path as of now. There was some kid named Mauer too, but that was more than 10 years ago. I personally think the narrative of 'Twins promote too slow' is what needs to be dispelled here. It's clear that they do the case by case thing (and there's definitely an argument to be made that they did it wrong). But guys like Arcia, Berrios, Hicks, Buxton, Polanco, etc. all debuted at very young ages... There may be something more to this with pitchers than hitters, but then again, given the results we saw with our pitchers when they came up, I'm inclined to say that promotion speed wasn't the reason for the issues.
  6. I would certainly be open to trading Gordon for a blue chip pitching asset, and a guy like Jon Gray, while not exactly risk free, would definitely be someone I'd be willing to converse about. That isn't going all in, and probably not what I'd call "buy". That's more or less the type of trade you normally do in the offseason where roster's get rebalanced. Now that said, I'm probably more in the sell category personally. I don't see this team having the talent to make it. I'm not sure I sell on Santana unless they are able to bring in a guy like Gray as well as making an FA splash this offseason, but I'm definitely dangling Kintzler and Dozier and any other marginal vet that has a ready replacement.
  7. This condition is worthless without the word bilateral in there somewhere.
  8. There's plenty of older guys doing well in said league. You don't promote on age, you promote based on it being an appropriate location for where you are. The old guys still struggling are the ones who get released. To me, age relative to league average is a good metric.
  9. Yeah, hard to deny age. College guys have to perform where they are placed. Now for the record, Rooker is 1.6 years younger than the average age in the FSL. A good season here would place him pretty firmly on the prospect map.
  10. I can say this... I'd rather not dumster dive for RPs this offseason. I think Hildenberger is the real thing, and I like Busenitz too, but instead of a Breslow type, go out and spend the money on a good FA. I'd be comfortable with a pen to start 2018 that consisted of Hildenberger, Busenitz, Chargois, FA, and Rogers. The manager will have options so that one guy isn't overworked. Still not sure what to do with Duffey though.
  11. He had good discipline in college too. I'm not too concerned about that. Obviously at this point he should pretty used to using a wood bat. I'd think he'd be headed to CR or FTM at some point soon.
  12. Have to admit this is a name I don't really recognize other than recently. I checked his history and he's been decent since drafted. He's slightly younger than his league this year. So tell me, what does his pitch mix look like?
  13. I like the idea of getting Stroman, but that's a hefty price to pay (not unrealistic I might add, just noting that it's expensive and one I'd have a tough time stomaching)... Not sure I like the pieces in the Yankees trade, though by sending Gordon away, getting a similar piece back would be nice. I would be going hard after a guy like Justus Sheffield. Effectively, you're trading Santana, Kirriloff, Romero, and Blankenhorn for Stroman (replacing Gordon in the Yankees trade). I like the Kintzler and Neshek trades. Ultimately, I'm not sure the team is better in 2017 though. They did get younger in swapping Santana for Stroman, but they still have a rotation of Stroman, Berrios, and Mejia with not much else.
  14. I would guess Garver is the 2 catcher going north with the Twins next spring. I figured he'd get call if/when someone went down but our catchers have been healthy. Not the end of the world as Garver wasn't ready to start the year, but he sure looks ready now.
  15. Here's to hoping he gets really hot. Hot enough to pick up a major league ready high ceiling SP arm at the deadline.
  16. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the window industry doesn't pay quite as well as banking and baseball.
  17. link doesn't work for the record... not sure if it got opened up yet.
  18. No question that there are some unreasonable standards as to what constitutes a 1-3. People have been calling Santana a 3 for a while too.
  19. The decision to use the saved slot money and draft a bunch of HS kids right now is looking very smart. A lot of picks in this draft are looking good.
  20. Kershaw can opt out too. There are plenty of decent options in FA this offseason, and I really hope the Twins go all in on at least one big SP.
