I agree with your take. If the teams was poised to contend, with a solid and proven rotation, then adding a SP with the upside of Montas makes sense. Or if Montas had three or more years of control. But we all get tired of the signing of past their prime starters who fail to produce. Let’s see what the young arms can do.
