  1. Well at least the defense seems to have improved, although that woman in the 13th row of the RF stands did not take a good route to that last HR.
  2. Well I must say that the pregame discussion on the abilities of both teams defense was timely.
  3. Actually the prison movies related more to an obtuse warden upset over the inmates wearing yoga pants, and not exercising in them. That's a somewhat short, if not wholly accurate synopsis!
  4. The Twins Red is in the running. Kind of like the gap between Ben Rev............
  5. It is indeed an honor to be placed in the same category as the vaunted Tigers defense!
  6. It has been raining in So. MN. for about an hour. And the radar shows it heading towards metro. TRUE STORY
  7. They made it very clear that they were only there for the hours. I knew truck drivers who had better hours and more pay.
  8. I imagine some numbers were still fairly easy to comprehend? 69 comes to mind.
  9. I used to get to the Spencer IA airport frequently. One evening I was talking to the two pilots of a twin engine turbo prop, who appeared to be about 16 years old, and just graduated from the Mankato State flight program. They filled me in on their route, and hours, and pay. I wasn't there to fly anywhere, and I was glad. I was not impressed at all by being flown by a slightly past teenager, who made about 20 K, and slept not only inconsistently, but infrequently!
  10. Since we are playing Detroit, I think it appropriate to mention the lengths some will do to get away from Tiger games. (or the election) http://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/canada-politely-firmly-escorts-1-500-illegal-rafters-back-u-n636301
  11. I had considered that also. Another solution, all the mechanics who worked on the problem, ride along on the flight.
  12. Actually, that was on the next page!
  13. I went to a very small Catholic grade school. 7 boys and 7 girls in the class. Our room had a piano set diagonally away from a corner of the room, allowing for some small shelves for book storage. One day our nun/teacher found about 4 of us boys and the most adventurous female member of our class huddled behind the piano perusing a National Geographic. . Need I say we were not reading up on the migration habits of the Icelandic musk oxen! . The boys were soundly admonished for our perversions, and Barb was told in no uncertain terms that she was to spend her time in the future with her gender, and not be playing with boys, as no good could come of such behavior!
  14. Overhead projectors were the best. Less than a 50/50 chance the operator got the image up correctly on the first pass!
  15. We did not have work release, dad just kept us home if he needed us in the field, and sent a note the next day. One spring day I spent 12 hours on a JD two cylinder pulling a disk, and the next day the ag teacher questioned, in front of the whole class, the lack of sunburn on a boy who had spent all that time outside.
  16. True story. In Catholic Hi School, Sister Xaverious (sp) was ancient and hard of hearing. She taught last hour math until the final bell at 3:10. By prior agreement at 2:30 everyone got up grabbed their books and started to walk out. One of her stress responses was "here here, stop it you children". Then she asked where we were going, and we asked, "sister didn't you here the announcement? School is dismissed early today." And we all walked out. There was hell to pay later of course, but well worth it!
  17. My oldest went to the School of Mimes, but he quit after two weeks. Claimed he couldn't hear a thing the teachers said!
  18. It had to be a parochial school? Lol. Sometimes we got it on the navicular bone with a wooden ruler.
  19. In grade school, no detention. Just recess revoked. No idle time, we had to do math cards, showing our work. There was a key in the cards the teacher could use to check the cards at a glance. While we never figured it out, a friend of mine did so many, that he kept a list of the answers, as the cards were numbered. We stil had to show the math, but we didn't have to worry about correcting the mistakes!
  20. I love that over rice. Once, when visiting a Kraft plant, eating in their cafeteria, I had the hamburger gravy over rice. The guy sitting next to me said, "I see you're having the Gravy Train". It was never the same after that!
  21. I do the same think when my wife has me cornered! I try and change the topic. And like me, I imagine this will also fail miserably!
  22. As you are well aware, I am not. And while I would need to dig out the Webster for a complete definition, I think 'obtuse' can be stretched to include willful avoidance of the facts!
