  1. That guy in the stands should be playing left!
  2. I agree, but I doubt he could run with the big dawgs on TDGT!
  3. Someone missed a point, or two!
  4. Luckily he's not taking any playing time away from anyone else!
  5. One of them will have to lose the beard, or it will look like Duck Dynasty!
  6. Yes. Apparently PBS will be doing a documentary on it in 2040 on the 25th anniversary.
  7. There doesn't seem to be a formula or a blueprint for bringing up youth. Some fail out of the box (Hicks), and some later, (Vargas). But they all seem to need multiple rotations through Rochester. Right now Sano and Rosario appear to be the golden children. As did Arcia, Santana, and Vargas previously. But there is no guarantee that won't change next year. Few care to remember that it wasn't too long ago, that Brian Dozier was the Danny Santana of his class!
  8. I just hope nothing happens that Is caught on slow mo video! The Nunez gaffe was dissected with more fervor than the Zadruper (sp) film, and easily as hotly debated. The only thing that saved us from the "grassy knoll" controversy is that there's no grass on the knoll in baseball!
  9. We didn't develop Nishy. He was that bad before we had a chance to!
  10. Plouffe woulda ate that one up!
  11. To reiterate mine, and the Chiefs point! (If I may be so bold as to be that presumptuous) They can win with EE, or even Nunez at SS, as long as the rest of the team is strong enough to make up for their mediocrity. The Twins don't currently have a Morneau, early Mauer, Killebrew, Puckett, Iggy, Trout, et al on their roster, that will carry a team. Sanyo, Buxton in the future? Possibly. We don't have a shutdown starter, or even a shutdown RP anymore. It's what it is, win some, lose some, hover around .500. Last time I looked .500 wasn't winning, and it wasn't losing, and as a rule it wasn't in the PO.
  12. NO! Which is why I was a Santana proponent for so long. He is the only one with the ability to play the position at a winning level. If he can or will is another question entirely! Your observation about the '27 Yankees brings up a long held theory of mine. ALL of the Twins could likely play on any MLB roster. It's really not that they are "poor" players. It's that a collection of them all on the same team likely cannot win over a long season. There can be a place in MLB for Nunez, but it is not as a starting SS on a winning team. BTW Chief, did you see the '27 team in person, or do you only know of it from reading about them? :)
  13. Hopefully this will relieve some of the stress going forward this's week! :)
  14. Your two thoughts on the younger l players getting experience, and the veterans struggling should be the focus for what remains of the season. I know it's been a long dry spell, and that this opinion is not popular, but they need to keep evaluating, and getting reps for the younger players, with the idea of determining which vets can be packaged with some of the log jammed prospects to get a catcher and a SS who can FIELD! I still think the arms are in the minors to replenish the bull pen, especially if some imagination is used. As for the SP, that's a little tougher. There appear to have been some poor decisions made in the length and amounts of contracts offered to middling vets. It's gonna be hard to get out from under them. As for the season, we can still play "meaningful games". But the focus should be on building a long term competitive team, not squeaking into a one and done WC game.
  15. That seems pretty consistent to me!
  16. Watching the Twins play the Yankees, is like watching the Lions play the Vikings in past years. From 1968 through 1989 the Vikes dominated to the tune of 34-9. Included in that time span were 13 straight Lions losses. I probably watched virtually every one of those games. No matter the score, the players, or the time remaining on the clock, the Lions KNEW they were going to lose. They didn't know how, they didn't know when, but they did know they were going to lose. All they were doing was waiting for it to happen. It bordered on being hilarious. So it is with the Yankees/Twins. We are the Yankees version of the Lions.
  17. I totally agree! But I have no idea who you can be talking about. I don't think our relief pitchers in the minors eve hit, not to seek of .400? . All kidding aside, hopefully it's based on service time, because if it's based on the evaluation of talent, woe is MN!
  18. Why would anyone wonder about New York? It's a very well known city in New York!
  19. "Stellar defensively"? Can you compare his glove to a current player in the majors? If he can really pick it, and hit .230 and run, YEAH! It's been a long time since we have had a good consistent defensive SS.
  20. The Arcia thing is not just about playing ability. His numbers were not that bad this year, and then he got hurt. First they jerked him out of RF. was he good there, no. But why would anyone think moving him around would help, and his arm plays better there than Hunters. There is something else going on. He went down for re-hab, and then suddenly it was announced that re-hab does not include a ticket back? That was a new and relatively player specific program it seems. Even when he hit, he did not come back. I would not be at all surprised if he figures that this year is lost. Next year he is either in MN, or somewhere else. It ain't gonna be Rochester, and he knows that.
  21. Where in the name of Bud Selig would Hunter get to play in the KC outfield? I did not like the Hunter signing, but I could have lived with it as a DH, limited 4th OF. That's what old soon to retire veterans normally do. There are several on here who are sure he is not going to be brought back. These must be recent MN transplants, as they have not observed TR in action. He will be back, and he will be starting. I am not sure he is over the Mendoza Line since July 1, and he still starts, while the Twins continue to struggle to score runs.
  22. My baseball astute son said Hunter is done, and there is no way he should be back. I said you want to put up $20 and take the he won't be back card. I get the he will be back card. He said, "do you think I am nuts?" Tells you the faith we all have in TR to make a intelligent decision.
  23. I agree. If there is one thing this team does not need it's another left handed power hitter!
  24. Maybe 8 or 9, 11 might be a bit much!
  25. Wait, let me get a "should we keep Torii" post going! But first I have to find my bee bonnet! Lol
