  1. It would seem to me the Bird of Paradise flew up our nose, or if not our nose, some other orifice?
  2. BTW, I don't think he is indecisive or wishy washy necessarily. But he is extremely slow to react, and extremely hesitant to be proactive. He takes Bud Grants approach of "never make a decision until you have to, as they will generally make them for you" beliefs to a new level.
  3. Boston didnt waste anytime picking up Dumbrowski. (sp) But such a move would require going outside the orginisation in ???? how many years? Someone smarter than me would have to tell us how long it's been since a GM or Manager has not been chosen who was NOT a Twins orginisation all guy?
  4. Seths point about the BP being constructed more or less the same as always, is pretty much spot on. The Twins have been very late to the dance in recognizing velocity as an intregal part of RP. Or maybe to put it in another light, they might recognize it, but Ryan just cannot live with the likely walk rate that comes with that velocity. It is not easy to change the pitch to contact spots on a 60 plus year old leopard! He may say all the right things about emulating the KC BP, but it's a completely different matter to develop high velocity pitching, than natural strike throwers. Sometimes you just have to accept a walk and a SO as the equivalent of a fly ball to the warning track!
  5. The bullpen has been bad. But this has been a bigger implosion than could be fixed at the trade deadline. Currently one of the biggest BP issues is the one that would never have been touched. The closer. The offense has been horrible. Last nights box score again showed that the veterans on this team are not really carrying their weight. What little offense there is, has been propelled by Sano, Rosario, and Hicks. This was a team that had one fluky unreal month, and caused everyone to get a little too excited. I don't necessarily like TR's glacial pace, or his love of over the hill veterans. He is still guarding the Pohlads money like a depression era spinster. But I am glad he did not do the rental player thing, or give up prime young talent for someone like Tulo, who as talented as he is would not have put us over the hump alone. Likely as not, the long term veteran contracts we have signed, will be one of the biggest detriments to the team in the future. As for rental players, there wasn't enough underpinning structure here for a couple of them to put us into the playoffs. This coming off season will do far more to determine the Twins long term future, than a couple late July trades ever would have.
  6. How dare you call me alliterate?
  7. You just used "Canada" and "culture" in the same sentence?
  8. Whom are all these Ed's you refer to? And yet no mention of the most famous. Mr. Ed, of course!
  9. That news was as inevitable a Torii Hunter post garnering 179 replies! No DL? Wait, I know, we will wait a week first, then retro him!
  10. The difference between the Ed Fitz, and the Twins? The Fitz is done sinking!
  11. We did the same thing. Down there on the bike and saw the sign, and couldn't resist. Just as you described, the whole tour took less time than a Twins lead lasts against NY.
  12. How many games does a manager win? The real issue, is does he put players in a position to succeed?
  13. You used to be able to get 3 cases of Hauenstein long necks for $12 bucks!
  14. As a good young Catholic boy we were warned regularly about self abuse!
  15. Seriously where is May. That was to be the defining AB of the game, and he sits?
  16. Saving him for the ninth? Who knows?
  17. "lose it for sure"? The game? Or your lunch?
  18. I think we should have the video analyzed to count the hops, and distance of roll at the NIIA! (National Institute of Idiotic Arguments)
  19. Its a crabby bunch! . I think it started to go south when the lineups showed Sugar Shane starting, and went down hill from there. Hell, for awhile it even looked like Thomas Friedman was under attack.
  20. Long time contemplation is not a luxury a third base coach enjoys!
  21. Must be an old cartoon, I think it's up to 51 now?
  22. As I noted in my non-award winning post today, comparing the Twins/Yankees non rivalry to the Vikings/Lions from the late '60's through '80's! I think 34-9 Vikes!
  23. I realize getting "the bird" in NY is not unusual, but this is getting silly!
