  1. Speaking of leadership, Dozier was quoted as on the subject. Once he said he was the team leader, and once he referred to himself as one of the team leaders. He likely has a point, as it's obvious the whole team is following his shining example. Snark meter is currently set at full operating capacity!
  2. Yes! I am on a high carb, low on fiber diet! . We went with two friend from Milwaukee. A Mr. Harley, and a Mr. Davidson. . We are currently sitting at Tim Hortons waiting for North, but he still hasn't showed up?
  3. So if Guy Fieri wants to try excellent dining he should travel to SW MN. Laugh if you will, but Langes in Pipestone is worth the trip. It was a difficult choice Sunday, 120 miles one way on the bike for breakfast, or another Twins nail biter. We opted for the ride. It was as advertised, a 10 on a scale of 10. If Guy can find Pipestone, he should give it a try.
  4. A good idea, I have always wanted to drown alone! Living on the river I have often noted that all canoe paddlers go down river. But none ever come back. This is apparently where early man got the idea the world was flat, as I am assuming these people must have fallen off the end somewhere. Hopefully not in Le Seuer? Which I am sure North will tell you is French for "The Sewer". Seems a strange name for a town?
  5. I refuse to start another discussion on wieners! Beside me and North are heading straight to the Polish sausage stand. Krysmawhachumacallit, or whatever!
  6. It did, she stepped on the edge of the canoe to get out. I am 6'5 and the water was 7'2"!
  7. I'll pick you up at Tim Hortons in 30 minutes. You pay for the gas!
  8. Would questioning whether TR will have both oars in the water, while piloting his rowboat be inappropriate? On a side note, my wife and I tried canoeing with less than moderate success. Let's just say we were the canoeing version of the 2016 Twins with the exception we eventually got our heads above water. On one occasion she yelled "there's a beaver"! Looking to the distance All I saw was a squirrel swimming heroically across the muddy MN. Since both species have two ears and a tail, it was an easy mistake to make. Be that as it may, there has been a long and ongoing "discussion" over who was in charge of steering. The person in front or back. Your answers to this question will determine whether she sees this post or not!
  9. We have them the last one, it's somebody else's turn!
  10. Dozier spent two years sitting on up and in FB. Now they started pitching him away, relentlessly. So when he does get something up, he is caught leaning in a little. But the bottom line, if you replay his AB's and watch him swing at the outside stuff, he still tries to pull it all. Why? Ego and money. BD liked being BD the big bat, and it ended up being a well playing gig. Dozier could hit to RF if he wanted, he has in SSS in the past. He doesn't want to or he would try. What's sometimes lost in the discussion is why Molitor puts up with it. He has Bud Grants stone face, but if Bud was his coach Dozier wouldn't be in Rochester, he would be lucky to be in Cedar Rapids.
  11. Ha has made some pretty odd moves, and bears some of the fault, but he wasn't given a roster that can readily be adjusted either.
  12. To answer a couple posts, there have been some changes, instituted by the same FO. If I am going to rearrange deck chairs, I am bringing in someone who is basically on the same page as I am, as would anyone. And thinking Ryan cannot orchestrate his retirement, ignores the rehiring of the Bill Smiths, Gardenhires, Kvinskys etc, not to speak of bring the band back together mentality. It's an orginisational modus operandi. They cannot help themselves. And please, stop calling me Surely!
  13. The Pragmatic Platoon says he can agree with this observation. The Sarcastic Platoon wonders which players you are referring to?
  14. Rumor has it that Captain Smith wanted to back up the Titanic, in fact tried. But the water just kept coming in!
  15. I am not sure that rushed is in play here. The article dealt with the timing of Ryans departure. It also dealt with the possibility that he won't. Unfortunately I see only two ways this plays out. And this observation is not based on wishful thinking , but on over two decades of this clubs ownership. Ryan retires, but only if Pohlad agrees to his hand picked successor, with the understanding that all the key staff stay in place, or are reassigned on no less than a lateral basis. Or Ryan stays! That's it, folks. Any thought that the Pohlads would flat out fire him, or force his retirement ignore Twins history. And even a forced retirement would mean Ryan had negotiated security for his loyal subordinates. As a human trait, such loyalty is a positive, as a philosophy in improving this orginisation, it's definitely a negative!
  16. This was posted by Matthew Trueblood on BP. I really have no knowledge of his writings, or his accuracy. But this article does seem to lay out the case for the rationale, timing and replacement of Ryan. And the necessity of a total house cleaning. One can argue each and every decision TR has made, but one cannot escape the mediocricy of the last twenty years. I include the Smith tenure, due to the Twins acknowledgment of Ryans involvement. In his closing he comments on the long term danger of not making a change. And I concur. The simple fact is that if this team does not take advantage of the current prospect list with some proactive roster reconstruction, the future is going to be at best more of the same, win enough to to be relevant to MN, but not enough to be relevant to MLB. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=29264
  17. The Twins have so many problems that discussing any one of them results in a "but if the Twins had a (fill in the blank) things would be different comment. And that's true. But each part of the game should stand on its own. I am not sure why anyone thought that this was going to be an explosive offense? I can see die hard fans, but the FO? They had not intention of Buxton leading off, so they still had no leadoff hitter, no true 3 hitter, and Sano was moved to RF, and does not appear to be ecstatic over the idea. Park was, and still is a roll of the dice. Currently he seems in either a large slump, or they have started to figure him out. I think he is an extreme guess hitter at this time. Enough has been said about Dozier, but the sum of it is the BD that existed in the first halves of the last two years is not coming back. And while I am a big Mauer fan, I fear he isn't either. The only one close to consistency is Plouffe. (Jeez Louise) and that explains the offense in a nutshell. If Trevor Plouffe is your cleanup hitter, your lineup is in serious trouble. When you take over beloved veterans and pair them with on the job training rookies, and add a SO prone 29 year old, what exactly did anyone expect. A lineup like Torontos could carry a couple hitters learning their craft, expecting the veterans on this one to, is a fools errand.
  18. There are different kinds of selling high, and those different kinds apply variably depending on what state your team is. Contender, rebuilding, one last shot at it, etc. There is no one size fits all. A rational view of the Twins last year should have shown that the team was not ready to contend, especially with that pitching staff. It was basically a house of cards. The other observation should have been more obvious to the Twins than the fans. Some fans could see a player with a hole in his strike zone the size of a refrigerator. Plus the team should have known that he appears to be a stubborn egotist, who had and has no intention of seeing the futility of his approach.
  19. Don't forget that huge arch over I80.
  20. I know he has a lot of issues with strikeouts, so it's good the Twins don't have any offensive problems, and are able to let him mature in Rochester. .
  21. "good Canadien unhappy"? You forgot the "eh"
  22. Who was Victoria Day? And why do they celebrate her?
  23. And this is gonna get me whacked but good, but now would be a great time to put him on the market. (Or give him a 4 year extension) whichever seems to make the most sense!
  24. So today I decided it was just to damn nice to sit and watch a crappy baseball team, so I took the bike out for a ride, and listened on the radio, which I seldom do. The downside to the bike is its hard to read GT, type, and drive 60 mph. (So I don't type). Anyway when Zookie bunted with no out and popped up, I seriously regretted not having my puter. I wanted to see how many different versions of the lords name Chief could use in one post!
