    This is generally a league-wide problem since batters have fallen further into the 3 true outcome tidal pool. The big $$$ come from HR & RBI, not advancing the runner from 2nd to 3rd and letting the next guy get the RBI, and the pitchers know this.

    You don't know that for sure. The "vaccines" are new, were rushed into production and there have been several reported cases of cardiac arrests and other heart/health problems in athletes. The long-term effects won't be known for another 5-10 years.

    Where? On here? Do some research and quit watching CNN, MSNBC and the View. Left and right are good on a baseball field, but you have think for yourself and take the time to research. I respect each person's to make the decision they deem is best for them.

    So points are issued, users not allowed to post and other types of punishments are doled out for vaccine comments/opinions in other threads, but owners/moderators are allowed to put their opinions into threads if it is being done as an attempt (poor) at humor. Where's Elon Musk....

    One more reason to trust the eye over the metrics, Outs Above Average says Urshela is a -3... He's looked pretty damn good at the hot corner.

    I think (hope) the 100 game plan is just for this year and did not come into play until he hurt his knee. Going forward Buxton himself needs to figure out how to stay on the field. He has started to dial in the recklessness in the field that led to running into walls and teammates, now he needs to figure out how to not get hurt on the bases. If he had been running hard on that pop-up, he gets second standing up. Since he didn't (nor do many MLB players), he should have been content to stay at first instead of having to awkwardly slide into second and jam his knee (like many MLB players have done). We also don't know how much of his hip problems are related to running to first, stepping on the bag (creating a jamming force on the ankles, knees and hips), and coming to an abrupt stop from full-speed. I do love the hustle, but sometimes you need to let the routine grounder to the pitcher or second baseman be routine and just jog to first. Groundballs to short and third are potential infield hits and you gotta go hard to first!!

    So in a tight, extra innings game, only Contreras was available off the bench? Too many pitchers on the roster if only one guy is available off the bench and pitchers can go 3 or 4 days between appearances.

    I think the Twins have gotten as much as they are going to get out of Sano. He turns 29 tomorrow and history is not kind to sluggers his size as they approach and pass 30, just look at the Fielder's, Cabrera, Hrbek, Luzinski, and several others that I know I am forgetting. Even Thomas and Papi and Albert each battled injuries and production issues after and into their 30's. Thank you Miguel Sano, but I believe it is time to move on and let him have an opportunity elsewhere.

    If Lewis is for real and Correa opts out after the season, the future would look very bright, especially if Martin and the young pitching is for real. If Correa decides to stay and even agrees to an extension, Polanco becomes a very attractive trade piece (I say Polanco because of the love for Arraez on this site).

    But they are middle of the pack, 16th of 30, in IP/Start @ 4.8, 26th of 30 in Pitches/Start and are tied for the most starts of 80 or less pitches. The BP has been used plenty and will continue to be.

    I believe the Twins probably benefitted from the 28 man roster more than any other team, but could possibly mange just fine with 26. The 28 man roster allowed the team to cover up short starts and nagging injuries as well as give players days off to rest or mentally recover. I think they should send one position player and one pitcher to AAA. My choices would be Winder and Celestino, as they would be better served by getting regular playing time and a regular turn in the rotation. I also think when Kirilloff comes off the IL it should be Garlick getting demoted because Larnach has looked good. Having Arraez, Gordon, and Kirilloff being able to play multiple positions to give Correa, Buxton, Sano and Urshela days off. It also allows the team to keep Godoy as catching insurance without production drop-off from the rest of the line-up.

    Ummm, no. He caught the ball on the run, got his whole body into the throw and it still hopped a third of the way between the mound and the plate. He is in the role he should be in. He is good enough to play SS, 2B, 3B, LF & CF on a short-term role, but his weaknesses would be evident over a whole season (weak arm, holds the ball to long, weak bat.) Keep putting him out there 2-4 days a week in a position to succeed and he should be a passable utility player.

    Didn't read all the comments, but on the replay I saw he was jogging out of the box and kicked it down when he saw the ball hit the ground. Either run hard the whole way or stay at first and advance the old fashioned way (SB, WP, PB, E on throw over from P). DH'ing every day will not eliminate this. Let him roam CF and and whatever happens, happens.

    So, 2022 being what it is, here are the Twins starters AL stats and ranks (forgive the old school stats, they still mean something to me): ERA - 3.06 (4), IP - 50 (5), Hits Allowed - 38 (5 fewest, and they have more IP than the 4 teams above them), HR allowed - 6 (T7), BB allowed - 14 (4th fewest), SO - 42 (T10, could be better), WHIP - 1.04 (2), BA Against - .204 (3), Pitches per Inning - 15.16 (1), K/9 - 7.56 (8, middle of pack), BB/9 - 2.52 (3), K/BB - 3.00 (4). And here are the BP stats and ranks: ERA - 5.28 (14), IP - 46 (10), Hits allowed - 49 (Tie for second most), HR allowed - 9 (3rd most), BB allowed - 26 (2nd most), SO - 47 (9), WHIP - 1.63 (15), BA Against - .271 (15), Pitches per Inning - 17.35 (11), K/9 - 9.20 (9), BB/9 - 5.09 (15), K/BB - 1.81 (15). Obviously the starting pitching is better than hoped for (we'll see how it continues as the season progresses) and the BP is amongst the worst in the AL. Hopefully the team will figure it out and get the right players slotted into the right spots and the pitching will be able to help carry the team. The offense on the other hand.....

    This right here is what has been wrong with the Twins going back to TK, "Get away day" line-ups. Terrible C, starting 2B at SS, and AAA guy in CF. They did not stand a chance to win this game and its no surprise they were almost no-hit. Rocco has enough issues making out a line-up, he doesn't need to keep trotting out the back-ups on "get away day." 1. Byron Buxton (R) DH 2. Luis Arraez (L) 2B 3. Gio Urshela (R) 3B 4.     The Padres have been tied to Dominic Smith and Brian Reynolds, both in their age 27 season and aren't FA's until '25 (Smith) and '26 ( Reynolds). Kepler is in his age 29 season and can be a FA after '23., so probably not what they are looking for.

    Padres are looking for a young, controllable STARTING OF, not scrap heap left-overs. Would probably take Kirilloff, or maybe Miranda (or both) being included to get a deal done.

    Twins and A's are reportedly discussing Manaea and Montas and the A's just traded Matt Olson to Atlanta. Would including Kirilloff in a package for Montas be overpaying? (For the record I wouldn't include him) Discuss below.
