  1. His stuff plays, and there are multiple teams interested in him. But they only want to give up a low-level prospect who will be out of baseball in a year. Same with Kepler.
  2. If the team had been able to play even average defense, Varland would have been out of the inning...
  3. Don't know if there's much to this or not... https://puckettspond.com/posts/twins-max-kepler-responds-rocco-badelli-calling-him-out-loss-rays-01h2ec1ap5ey
  4. If yesterday's game is any indication, even the team failed to show up...
  5. There have been plenty of big name player's DFA'd this year that were still owed big MLB $$$, Hicks, Dozier, Voit, Engel and Hosmer among others. I think its a cost the team could absorb if they are getting production out of league minimum type (Wallner, Larnach). I am a big fan of Kepler, but it might be time for a change of scenery.
  6. Mixed feelings or not, if a team can win 2 of 3 and split the 4 game series every week, that will lead to 90-95 wins in a season and in the AL Central, that is more than enough.
  7. A one-man bench, the other catcher. Nice!!
  8. No Buxton or Correa. And Garlick starting over Kirilloff, didn't realize McKenzie was left-handed
  9. I think we will see Buxton on the IL before we see him in CF. Hindsight being 20/20 and all, I think the team should have placed him on the IL after he hurt the knee against Boston last season, he may have damaged the knee more by continuing to play on it, as witnessed by the fact he didn't have surgery until November despite being shut down at the end of August. Sano (bad example, I know) returned in about 6 weeks from his surgery, if Buxton would have had the surgery immediately after the injury, he is back around mid- June/early July. The team also should have been a little more vocal about him skipping the All-Star game and getting that injection/treatment instead. Personal accolades are fine, but this is a team sport and his team needed him healthy (as much so as possible anyway) for the 2nd half. I am as big a fan/supporter of Buxton as anybody, but I don't think we'll see him CF any time soon.
  10. Boston extended Refsnyder through '24, with option for '25. https://www.mlb.com/news/rob-refsnyder-red-sox-extension
  11. Big Sexy calls it a career. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/06/bartolo-colon-to-officially-retire.html
  12. Hope Correa and a few others took notice of how Polanco RAN hard out of the box on his double instead of standing there admiring it hit the wall...
  13. I call BS. If his control is that bad, then he should not be in MLB. 95+MPH can really hurt somebody.
  14. Giolito has hit several players trying to pitch inside. He has no idea where his pitches are going and should be held more accountable. Or his teammates should expect to "wear one" once in awhile.
  15. Then he has no business pitching inside because he has no idea where his pitch is going. Too much of this in MLB today.
  16. I don't care why, looked intentional to me. Unless we agree that MLB pitchers don't have the capability to pitch inside anymore. https://www.mlb.com/video/byron-buxton-hit-by-pitch-alex-kirilloff-to-2nd
  17. Take this any way you want to, but our "best" player took a pitch to the ribs and had to leave the game, and will probably miss at least a game, if not the rest of the series, and our pitchers did nothing. I saw the pitch, and it looked like a straight up I'm gonna hit you dude. No warning to the pitchers or the benches given. Granted, none of Cleveland's big hitter's came up in the 5th, but Kwan or Ramirez needed to be brushed back in the 6th. Call BS if you want, but it looked like a blatant HBP and needed a response.
  18. Catcher running for catcher, saves a bench player for later if needed.
  19. Baseball Savant shows a very good game called by the HP ump, only a couple missed calls - borderline strikes called balls. Do not use MLB Gameday to see how an ump is doing, Baseball Savant is way better, despite what others may say.
  20. CC as a late inning defensive replacement...
