  1. Wow Sano, just wow. Not one pitch was close to the strike zone......
  2. The bullpen's consistency continues, all inherited runners scored.
  3. Maybe Sano could make note of what Benintendi did there, a fly ball that scores a run instead of a K,...
  4. Looks like the Royals figured his plan out, they are swinging at the first pitch fastball. Time to adjust again.
  5. Not to jinx it, but, he's only at 50 pitches through with this new philosophy. Maybe there's something there...
  6. Introducing your not ready for primetime players....
  7. Speaking of bad fundamentals.... https://www.mlb.com/news/javier-baez-rundown-between-first-and-home
  8. As a manager, you have to have confidence in who you put on the mound, you don't expect nuclear bomb to go off, especially when guys have good track records. That being said, you do have figure out how to get them through the rough patches.
  9. You, sir, are correct, I should not be accusing. Terms like " I believe", "In my opinion" and "It appears to me" should be used instead. I will be more diligent going forward.
  10. If a MLB player is learning fundamentals at the MLB level, so many coaches have failed that player. Baldelli is a coddler, he doesn't hold players responsible. Yes, Rortvedt was sent down, but he showed he isn't ready for The Show even before the botched rundown. Guys make mistakes and are in the line-up the next day, and make the same mistakes. Injuries are part of the reason for this, but when you know you can make a fundamental mistake and still be playing almost everyday, why work on fixing it.
  11. "Berrios could have cost himself the game last night when he went for the spectacular double play and threw a 90 mph slider to Simmons who was charged with the error." Low percentage play or not, he threw a waist high strike that beat the runner to the base by 10-15 feet, which would have given Simmons plenty of time to turn the DP. That is part of the problem, not making plays when needed. Donaldson did the same thing earlier this season. This team doesn't move runners over, strikes out too much, bungles routine plays, misses cut-off men and throws to the wrong base far too often. The offensive woes are painstakingly obvious under the current extra-inning rules. The defensive miscues have to be contributing to the pitchers sense of have to make the perfect pitch, often resulting in 3-0 counts and having to "groove one." Also, the pitchers seem to think that when they get ahead 0-2, they can throw 3 pitches 3 feet off of home plate, and then they have to "groove one." Can these shortcomings be fixed? I believe so, but skipping BP and pre-game infield are not the answers.
  12. Beat the O's with what used to be there creed; pitching, defense and the three-run homer....
  13. There was discussion on today's game thread about rules changes to try to improve our favorite sport, some for, some against. I would like to hear people's ideas on the subject and the reasoning for their decisions.
  14. I agree with a "pitch" clock or not allowing the batter to leave the box between pitches and, given the speeds todays pitchers throw, adjusting or moving the mound back. 7 inning double headers need to go away, the runner on second to start extra innings could stay, but change what inning it starts being used and lets get rid of replay challenges that are being used to see if a runners foot came off the base for a split second as he pops up out of his slide or his body briefly loses contact with base when he is sliding across the base on a head first slide but he maintains contact with the base at the end of the play. This is not the spirit of replay nor its intended use.
  15. Football started in 1869 and the forward pass was illegal until 1906. And a lineman could catch it until 1951. If an outfielder caught a fly ball on one bounce it used to be an out. There are many more through the years: https://www.baseball-almanac.com/rulechng.shtml
  16. Eliminate the shifts. Other sports have made parts of their "traditional" game illegal to improve the game for the players and fans.
  17. Winning 2 out 3 the rest of the way is 76 wins. 76 + 19 = 95 wins. 95 wins has been enough to win the AL Central for the last 13 years. But 95 wins is a pretty lofty total for this team right now.
  18. I am not a big fan of the contact play.
  19. Am unable to watch the games at home(thanks FSN/BSN), but do check the highlights. I did catch a couple innings last night after watching the local high school team play and, to me anyway, there were a couple things missed amongst the hubbub of complaints about Berrios, Donaldson and Simmons seasons. Berrios didn't look bad, the Simmons error really hurt. His stuff looks good, almost too good. His fastball had big movement and his breaking stuff had bigger movement, but the hitters weren't chasing. Simmons, despite the error, made a nice block of the base resulting in a pick-off and is always in position ready to make the play. Donaldson struggles, but went oppo for the sac fly, something the rest of the team seems unwilling (unable) to do. Yes, there are no excuses at this level for dropped catches (Simmons and Donaldson), but I feel some of the negativity leveled at these players in mostly unwarranted. Nobody bats or fields 1.000 or had an ERA of 0.00.
  20. Thanks again guys, tonight's show did not disappoint
  21. Reading through the comments, I see this episode is just as interesting as the previous ones
