  1. How fans view a season is, obviously, different to each fan. Some fans are "if we didn't win a championship, it's like we came in last place." That's a real viewpoint. I'm much more mellow. I want to have a fun season. I want the team to do well. I thought we were a wildcard team at the beginning of the season (one of the few) and I'm quite happy watching them make the playoffs.
  2. I think this is the big one. We know we want a capable back up and Darnold won't be back. So let's take a look at a former first rounder who has had some success but poorly coached and see if there's anything there. I haven't seen the terms of the contract but this strikes me as a very low risk move.
  3. Ivan Pace to the IR. Out at least 4 games.
  4. I think it's Detroit, Buffalo, KC (in some order) than us, Philly and Baltimore (in some order). I think we're certainly better than GB, Pitt, Washington, Houston, Chargers. Too early to worry about playoffs but right now it looks like we'd have to win road games at Atl/Sea and then, most likely, two more road games, most likely Philly and Detroit. That seems problematic.
  5. Sure, that makes sense. But I'm not sure these games will tell us anything that we don't already know. We're probably the 4th best team in the NFL. We'd likely be road favorites over the NFC West and NFC South team in the playoffs and road dogs against Philly and Detroit.
  6. I think another thread was talking about this but it makes more sense here - Jefferson on how frustrating it was not getting the ball in the game. "“I mean, I always want to have an impact on the game,” Jefferson said. “And I always want to create some spark for our team. Defenders, the way they cover and the way the game goes, it might not happen all the time. So, it’s frustrating at times. But we got the win and that’s all that matters.” I can't see his body language but, at least written out, the context looks right. He doesn't seem to be a problem for the Vikings but rather a honest answer to a real question. I'd be stunned if there was a player in the league who doesn't follow their stats and I'm sure Jefferson wants to have better stats than Chase.
  7. Not sure how accurate or predictive these stats are but they suggest Darnold is having a nice year. I like the dig that Darnold doesn't check down. https://www.dailynorseman.com/2024/11/25/24305236/sam-darnold-winner
  8. I'm not sure how you think games against the 6-5 Falcons, Seahawks, and Cards will show us where we stand.
  9. Admittedly, I've only seen him a few times. And Mullens does have his fans ...
  10. Giants are in full meltdown mode. Star rookie wide reciever is really unhappy on not getting a catch until the second half when they were already down 30-0. As bad as Jones was, Jones got him the ball, he's 7th in receptions this year. https://www.bigblueview.com/2024/11/25/24294703/brian-daboll-tries-to-smooth-over-criticism-of-play-calling-by-malik-nabers-new-york-giants This is the killer quote: “Obviously, it ain’t the quarterback,” Nabers said. “Same outcome when we had DJ at quarterback. Take a look: It ain’t the quarterback.” “I don’t know what it is,” Nabers said. “Everybody knows better than me.” Can't imagine Daboll is back next year. Lot of coaching vacancies coming up.
  11. According to the daily norseman, this was the first time in Vikings history where they had three straight road games and won them all. https://www.dailynorseman.com/2024/11/24/24305233/minnesota-vikings-make-history-overtime-victory-chicago-bears
  12. Take the win. We have the 4th best record in the league.
  13. It's a win. I'll take it.
  14. Nice work, defense
  15. I'll take the lead but not a great first half by the refs and the Jones turnover hurts
  16. This could be a scary game. Chicago should be 6-4 and they have a really good red zone defense. This might be an ugly win, something like 19-10.
  17. Actually, I don't think he's a malcontent. I haven't heard any prima donna stuff about him (although I could very well have missed it). As to asking for his release, I think that's as much a business decision that his agent pushed as anything else. I wouldn't hold that - alone - against him. I haven't heard any bad things about him and his teammates seem to be saying the right things. That said, I don't think he's just a change of scenery guy but considering how few quality QBs there are, a backup of his ability is probably pretty good with some upside with better coaching.
  18. I like the idea of him as McCarthy's backup next season and it makes sense for him, obviously. I like the idea of grabbing him now with that option year. As bad as he is, he's probably better than Mullens.
  19. The Browns have beaten both Baltimore and Pitt. Any given Sunday, I guess.
  20. https://www.nfl.com/news/25-modern-era-players-semifinalists-pro-football-hall-of-fame-class-of-2025 I think Vinatieri and Suggs are the two obvious ones. After that, Jared Allen, Gates, and James Harrison would be my picks.
  21. And now the Jets fired their GM. Probably the right move but I wouldn't want to be a fan of either the Jets or Giants right now.
  22. I suspect cashing those checks has been pretty nice.
  23. Bluesky is surprisingly good.
