  1. I wish the Vikings played outside
  2. I,uh, might not have survived playing against pros.
  3. Wow, rams defense looking great.
  4. Rams looking pretty good. I'm surprised, thought Philly would win this handily.
  5. So just so I'm clear, the lions 15-2 season was meaningless, right?
  6. We had guests over and played board games all day. What did I miss?
  7. I like that idea. I don't think Addison has a lot of trade value though. He's a good #2 receiver but wasn't top 30 in yards this year. I think there are better free agent options out there that a team could sign and not lose draft capital. As for Viking free agency, I want us to sign Trey Smith (21m/yr) and also sign Teven Jenkins (13m/yr) and just go all in on the idea that our QB should hold the ball for 5 seconds. Make it the offense Levi didn't think can happen. 😀 I'd also like us to sign Dre Greenlaw on a two year deal.
  8. This link suggests that we Viking fans shouldn't worry as much about Dallas Turner's rookie season. https://atozsports.com/nfl/minnesota-vikings-news/vikings-dallas-turner-underwhelming-rookie-season-shouldnt-be-cause-concern/ And this link suggests KOC wants more say over roster construction. I actually thought he had a lot, but, whatever. https://heavy.com/sports/nfl/minnesota-vikings/kevin-oconnell-tension-contract-talks-news/ My guess is he gets an extension that gets him to at least 10m/yr. He doesn't have the playoff wins, yet, but he's certainly seen as an up and coming coach. They'll have to pay to keep him.
  9. I know you won't like it but Lions/Philly will be a pretty good championship game.
  10. It's always fun reading the "i knew it along" posts after the results come out. The big difference between the 3rd place schedule and 1st place schedule was Lions got Bills, Bucs, Cowboys and we got Falcons, Giants, Jets. The Lions went 1-2 against those three while we went 3-0 against our three. Even if you assume the Vikings would have gone 1-2 against those three, we would still have been 12-5 and had the 5th seed. The reality is most teams have skewed records against playoff teams. Here's the NFC playoff teams record against other playoff teams Detroit 5-2 Philly 5-2 Rams 2-3 Bucs 4-3 Vikings 3-3 Commanders 1-4 Packers 3-5 I don't really know or care why you think running up the score against cruddy teams is relevant but, whatever. Our +100 point differentiable was 5th in the conference and 9th in the league.
  11. That would be good. If we can draft a new Delvin Cook and sign Trey Smith, our redzone offense should be better just because it won't be so one-dimensional. I'm also not completely against bringing Aaron Jones back - he was solid and added something to the passing game - but I do think we can upgrade and get cheaper there. That said, the mocks have the Vikings taking a corner.
  12. Vikings now officially have the 24th pick in the first round. https://www.dailynorseman.com/2025/1/15/24344816/2025-nfl-draft-minnesota-vikings-slotted-to-pick-24th They will also get another 3rd rounder (97th overall) for letting Cousins leave. Draft boards change so much between now and April, I have no idea who will be available but I wouldn't be opposed to drafting a stud running back if one were available to get more offensive weapons or a monster guard, although I'm not sure this draft has one. I think a lot of the holes in the defensive side can be plugged through a few free agency pick ups.
  13. I don't get it either. The old boys club is still strong in the NFL is, legitimately, my best guess.
  14. This was pretty good but a bit painful if you're a Vikings fan.
  15. In the link I posted, I literally said we weren't excusing Darnold's performance. Not sure what else you need. The issue isn't Darnold anymore. In my post prior to that, I agreed with your assessment. But to make it clearer for you - Darnold was bad. We lost the last two games because of Sam Darnold. He will not be the QB the Vikings rely on for their future. We all good? As for KOC, I do think we can legitimately question him without it being a "KOC is crap." His playcalling is both good and bad. Darnold gets knocked out for a play, he has Mullins come in and sling the ball b/c he isn't changing his game plan. That's extremely cocky and had good payoff. But it's also dangerous. Up by two scores against the Packers on fourth down, how about a Nailor jet sweep? Inside the three against Buffalo, let's have Cook do a jump throw. Inside the five against the Lions and we won't kick a field goal - so let's not try to run a bit more? Those are all issues that were brought up in game threads this year. Again, love the guy. But IMHO, he deserves some of the blame for this loss because we were outcoached.
  16. Again, we're all in agreement that Darnold played poorly. That horse is dead. You can stop kicking it. The other issue is whether this is all Darnold's fault - in which case, fine, we're good. Or, does the coaching staff's failure to adjust need to be addressed? I love KOC. I think he'll end up winning a super bowl with the Vikings and go down as our best head coach. I'm all in on him. But he's not perfect. Packer fans were confident going into the game a few weeks ago that MLF would outcoach him by making better half-time adjustments. And I think we were pretty clearly outcoached against Detroit and LA. Levi mentioned that Cousins also effed up by throwing the checkdown. But does that fact that multiple QBs have struggled at times to implement KOC's offense correctly concern us? I'd note that Mullins put up good numbers in his scheme but also threw some horrific interceptions when the pressure got to him. And KOC didn't change his playcalling to adjust to the fact that Dobbs was a good runner - fans here actually complained that the Giants Daboll used Jones' feet better. In any event, my concern - and I'm not sure it's founded - is that we need another offensive mind to be a check on KOC, ideally from a different coaching tree.
  17. I thought this was a good post-mortem on the Vikings loss. It's not excusing Darnold's performance but is correctly calling out the lack of adjustments made by KOC. https://www.dailynorseman.com/2025/1/14/24343283/vikings-fall-flat-to-end-their-season "Overall, the Vikings held in a tight end or back to pass block on just five of Darnold’s 40 dropbacks according to PFF. The Rams did the same on twenty of Stafford’s 27 dropbacks." I do hope we bring in another offensive mind to work with KOC and maybe even taking over play-call duties next year (maybe). I think someone from Cincy - similar offensive pieces, Buffalo - they led the league in blowout wins, which means they might be able to address how opponents get back into games, or Baltimore - Harbaugh tree. But if the only thing we get out of the last two losses is to blame it on the QB, we're not learning enough.
  18. I mostly like this. I'm ok with letting Bynum go and bringing in S Holland from Miami. Good fit for the scheme.
  19. Everyone can enjoy sports however they want but suggesting 14-3 and a team that goes 4-13 are comparable might make you enjoy sports less. The Vikes swept the Packers this season. It was a fun season where we far exceeded expectations. But to each his own.
  20. We missed both Pace and Cashman for a bit, Addison for a few games, Jones was knocked out of a few games, Jones II for a few games, the kicker and long snapper for four games, Darrisaw for half the season, Hockinson for half the season, McCarthy for the full season, Blackmon for the full season, I think one of our DL guys. Also one of our back up TEs were out. One of the corners? Can't remember. I think we actually had the normal amount of injuries but did a good job of "next man up" stuff.
  21. Sounds like Dallas might actually hire Sanders. That feels like a very Jerry Jones hire.
  22. Yeah, I think it's gonna be the top four and a KC/Detroit super bowl. Yuck.
  23. I think your general point is right and Cousins is the better QB but he had some pretty bad games for us on national tv and, even after he finally won a playoff game, he followed that up with a stinker against the 49ers. Ironically, his best playoff game - statwise -was the Giants loss. Which kind of sums up Cousins career.
  24. Wasn't that the Kirk narrative until it wasn't? Like, he couldn't win prime time games or in the playoffs. I don't recall that really affecting his teammates. My guess is that players generally are less concerned about potential mental blocks than fans are. Just a guess though.
  25. In any event, I hope Darnold does well wherever he goes. He seems like a nice guy and I like that he rejuvenated his career from bust to - at least - starting caliber QB.
