  1. I'm really on the fence on DL v secondary. On the one hand, reading these profiles of Starks and Emmanwori makes me want one of them and see what they can do in Flores' scheme. Emmanwori, in particular, sounds like a perfect fit. 6'3", fast, hard hitter, One place wrote about him "Think a more explosive version of Kam Chancellor with better man coverage skills." I mean, geez, yes, please. On the other hand, I want the Vikings to have someone like Akiem Hicks, who would just destroy the front of the pocket.
  2. I think some team trades up for Dart before the Rams pick. It makes so much sense for the Rams to take him and let him sit and learn behind Stafford. Like, that's the ideal scenario for him and the Rams are a smart org. They know they need to plan something. I don't think Dart falls further than that. I'm higher on Sanders than you are. I think he will be a solid NFL QB and, if he falls to the right team, maybe more than solid. But I don't think he's a top 5 type like Burrow or Manning were. As to the RBs (@vanimal46), I don't think Hampton goes in the top 20 and likely not in the first round. It's a deep RB draft and teams can get some good players in the 2nd or 3rd. I think we are much more likely to see a run on defensive linemen in the first. Teams ignored defense last year, then they saw the Eagles win with a monster front and the success of Rams DE Verse and they won't ignore it this year. Guys like Grant might be gone by 22.
  3. I saw a mock that had 4 QBs taken in the first round. I think the Vikings biggest "problem" is that they have a handful of need areas - secondary, o-line, d-line - that can be addressed pretty well at pick 24, however they want (Starks, Harmon, Booker, Grant, etc). BUT a run on DL or safeties could happen in the second and third round and pick 97 might be sort of useless. Bad case would be we take someone like Starks at 24 and then 10 DL are taken before 97.
  4. Of all the DL in this draft, I think Alfred Collins might best fit what we need. He's a real nose tackle. Not a great pass rusher but he seems like Pat Williams. He can stuff the run on early downs and then be rotated out in passing downs. With the new guys, we have some pass rushers up the middle. He looks like a 2nd round/early third pick, so if we could trade out of the first for a 2nd and 3rd, we might be able to snare him.
  5. Yeah, there is some "I didn't think the leopards would eat my face" enjoyment here but I'd rather have competent government rather than this shitshow.
  6. It slowed down to see the curve in the road and then jumped the guardrails today.
  7. Wait, what? Tell me more.
  8. I'd be quite happy with Campbell, actually. He's still just 20 and has a ton of upside. We saw the defense struggled without Cashman so a LB who can cover a bit is needed but he also looks like he could be plugged in as the rush defender LB as well, and push Pace for snaps. Agree that a TE in the first round isn't a great idea.
  9. Agreed. If they are, the secondary looks a lot better than it did at the beginning of the offseason with Murphy, Samuels, Rodgers and Blackmon holding the corners and Jackson/Mettalus/Harris for the safeties. The corners in the draft our a bit weak but safety is relatively strong so we could get a good safety in the third round. Bluntly, the Vikings could just hold at 24 and take the BPA instead of trading down. Draft priorities change a lot, actually. There is no obvious weakness but there are a few places that could see an upgrade(LG, WR3, TE2). And getting more depth at DL, LB, and safety makes sense.
  10. It makes sense that no one has signed him b/c of the draft pick calculation formula so I do believe that Samuel will sign after the draft. I hope it's us. I thought he'd be a logical choice. I also note that we have the cap space for it and he seems the type of guy that fits our secondary scheme, although he's not the greatest tackler. That said, he has some injury concerns that have been noted as potential red flags --> https://athlonsports.com/nfl/new-orleans-saints/free-agent-cornerback-asante-samuel-jr-medical-concerns which could be another reason he still hasn't signed.
  11. Good lord. 6% loss yesterday, another 6% today. Ouch.
  12. Yeah, rough day. I am stunned that this is happening. The laws that allow the president to set tariffs have significant limiting language such as national emergency. Trump is going crazy on this - if everything is a national emergency, nothing is. Absolutely insane. One person shouldn't have this much control over our economy, which is why this power is reserved to Congress in our constitution.
  13. If any of these guys is there at 24, I'd be ok with just standing pat - OG Booker, either CB Barron or Johnson, DL Grant. There are some good safeties but how this draft plays out, they could fall into the second round and still be there if we trade down. And there are a number of solid DL types that I would be happy with - including Harmon who the Vikes have spent time with - that we should be able to get a good player to give depth this year and start down the line. Also, every draft there is that one guy who was a consensus top 10 who just falls for no reason. If it turns out to be the Boise State RB, I'd take him.
  14. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospect-rankings/ I think rankings, especially if you're trying to rank 500 players, go all over the place the further down you go. And I'm not sure which rankings have updated post-combine.
  15. No, they give the Cy Young to good pitchers. Great click bait though.
  16. Here's the current list of the prospects the Vikings have brought in for top-30 visits. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2025-nfl-draft-top-30-visits-tracker-full-list-of-every-prospect-all-32-teams-are-bringing-in-for-meetings/ Of these, DL Harmon could be available at 24, RB Smith could be available at 97, C Bayer could be a 5th rounder. The other RB could go in the 5th but I've seen reports as him being an undrafted free agent. Obviously, this doesn't really tell us anything. I'm sure the Vikes are doing due diligence on DL/CB that might fall to 24 but at least we have an idea of what they are looking at. Here's a nice write up on Harmon. "The film shows Harmon thriving as a 3-technique in an attacking front where he can fire off the ball and use his explosive first step." I have no idea how much our interior DL play in the 3-technique as opposed to more as nose tackles but this sounds good.
  17. It was insane how good the very first season of Daredevil was. Absolutely brilliant. I'm enjoying Born Again. Watched the first few episodes of The Rig on Amazon. Seems ok. Also, if you have Prime or Peacock, you should check out "The Goes Wrong Show." Not a lot of episodes but made by the guys who created the award winning play, "The play that goes wrong." Great comedy.
  18. Agreed. Letting college athletes get paid is something we should be praising. But, for some, it ruins the game. Remember the stuff Lou Holtz said? Geez, he made a fortune on the backs of those kids and he still opposed them getting money. Jackass.
  19. I know this guy - not really a friend - who blames the portal for destroying college football. Says that with guys going from team to team, no one learns anything. It'll ruin college football, blah blah blah. In any event, he basically agrees that the draft is weaker but did say that it has a whole bunch of freak athletes who, in the right place, could be stars in the NFL. One name I remember him mentioning was LB Chris Paul.
  20. To each his own but I'd advise against it, mi amigo.
  21. I really like what I've read about DL Deone Walker, 6'7", 340 pounds. That's 4 inches and nearly 40 pounds more than Harrison Phillips. Apparently he's incredibly strong, too, but conditioning might be somewhat poor. Sounds like he'll go in the second round or early third, so not likely to fall to us. But I want huge, big guys that are impossible to move and, ideally, can run over centers. But I have no idea who those guys are or who will fit into schemes that we want.
  22. It's a CB, not a QB, they didn't list the correct position. Zy Alexander is the only pick that I liked, actually. I don't mind the concept of the trade - drop 13 spots to get an additional couple picks in a deep draft, but I didn't like the picks they made for the Vikings.
  23. Here's a few links to some of the prospects in the draft. This is PFF's big board. And this is the one from CBS sports. I don't know how often they get update and there are some differences, which you would expect, but both lists let you sort by position as well. Vikings currently have picks 24, 97, 139, and 187. At 24, the Vikings seem likely to be able to get a good prospect for the DL or the secondary. The draft seems to have a lot of depth at safety, so I could see us waiting until the 5th round to take one, since safeties tend to fall a bit. With the Mason trade, a RB isn't a necessity but there will be RBs available at all draft spots.
  24. Someone on DN pointed out that the Vikes might not sign anymore free agents that will affect the draft comp formula - so essentially, no more big moves until after the draft. If Cam signs somewhere before the draft, we'll get another pick in next years draft for him, too. Since Rodgers was released, I'm not sure if he counts toward this comp pick or not. But I'm hoping that we'll just sign a backup after the draft, rather than Rodgers.
  25. I don't see how Rodgers works. He's a shell of himself. He can hardly move. There's no way he wants to be a backup. If we weren't going to play McCarthy, I'd rather they had brought back Darnold on the deal he signed with Seattle.
