  1. A few others I think if Gibson's k-rate is around league avg or higher - say 7 k/9 - he'll be an all-star. Phil Hughes - keep the HR rate low. E. Santana - innings pitched. If he can throw 200+ innings for us, he's probably in good shape.
  2. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/03/hyun-soo-kims-agency-says-he-wont-accept-minors-assignment.html Hyun Soo Kim played pretty badly but apparently has the ability to nix a AAA assignment so the Orioles might be forced to start the season with him. Kim had some pretty good numbers in the Korean league but had a horrific spring.
  3. I think Rosario can settle into a pretty solid player - someone with a 105-110ish OPS+ but low on-base levels. Strong defense and baserunning would make him a fairly consistent 2-3 WAR player. I like him and glad we have him.
  4. What are the Twins doing with Graham? Is he going to get a chance to start?
  5. Dang. Well, hope he gets better.
  6. Nice little article at South Side Sox about Philip Humber. http://www.southsidesox.com/2016/3/30/11329584/youll-never-see-a-career-like-philip-humbers-again Some prospect guys - Klaw - really hated how Rice treated Humber but he was the #3 overall pick. Twins got him in the Santana deal. I think he had TJ surgery in there somewhere but I can't remember. I do remember arguing that the Twins should have tried to make him a relief pitcher but then he threw a perfect game for the White Sox so what do I know. I always rooted for him - he seemed like a nice guy.
  7. http://www.startribune.com/it-s-ok-to-like-these-twins/374072231/ Reusse is pretty happy with the this Twins team. Best team since 2010, which I think we all agree on. If we stay healthy, we can make the post season.
  8. Yeah, something more in this neighborhood. He's gonna hit and come in second to Buxton in ROY voting.
  9. I think that's probably a good thing for the Twins, esp if you believe that the team we see in the second half will be better than the team we see in April.
  10. Well, nothing personal, but Twinkie Town is still more fun but Seth's excellent work on the minor leagues is just fantastic. I loved his old site but the work he and a few others do on the minor leaguers and the draft is really, really fun to read.
  11. Rosters looks pretty solid actually. Should be an exciting season.
  12. He's wining ROY - .270/.340/.415 and leads the league in triples. And he'll be a lot better after the break than before it.
  13. I think Buxton suffers from two things 1) obviously, his slow start in the majors and 2) prospect fatigue. I think people are underestimating how good of a year he had last year, especially off of a lost 2014 season. He's going to be a stud for us and sooner rather than later.
  14. Keeping in mind Senator Stevens of Alaska, now dead, still knows more about how the internet works than me, I seem to have a consistent problem when accessing TD. No matter what browser I use, my internet seems to stall out for 5-10 minutes and then it's working just fine, sometimes I wait it out, sometimes I restart my computer. Speedtest.com says my internet is working pretty fast - 60mb and my computer isn't that old so it shouldn't be that. I get this problem only when I try and log onto a few specific websites which have forums (TD and daily kos, for example), not sure if that has anything to do with it but websites like facebook or cnn.com don't seem to screw up my connection. And it doesn't seem to affect netflix if the kids are watching that at the same time, for example. It's kind of annoying but not sure what the problem is.
  15. Under, too much regression coming. I also think the AL West might be a bit more competitive this year.
  16. Sadly, it only happened in spring training. http://deadspin.com/yoenis-cespedes-decides-ball-thats-right-there-is-unpla-1766886124
  17. Yeah, Duffey is making this more competitive than I was hoping.
  18. Agreed, I like Pressley. But I think Tonkin would be released and sign elsewhere, correct?
  19. That's him - from Compton. Really hope he works out.
  20. Did you write about him before? I remember you wrote something about a HS kid the Twins nabbed who was a freak athlete who the Twins hoped could play CF. The article the kid said something about another kid who had amazing stats and wasn't even offered a scholarship. Does that ring a bell?
  21. I hope I'm wrong but I think he puts up a .270/.335/.370 line in about 135 games. I've mentioned before that other great hitters like Joe Torre and Tim Simmons have had rebound years out of nowhere that were near their career peaks so maybe Joe has one more of those in him. So let's hope that happens.
  22. I don't think there's as much conflict there as you do. If he's starting, he's going to get to throw more pitches and innings. Obviously, control is a big issue for him which he can work on more as a starter. I think it makes sense to make him start at AAA if he isn't going to be in the MLB bullpen.
  23. Well, hopefully, this works out. He still has the stuff to be a big time starter but his control went haywire. In a perfect world, it all works out for him.
  24. There is no way Trout is 225, he's far bigger than that. And Hamilton might even had been bigger. AND Hamilton was away from the game for four years and older than Sano when he returned so I'm not sure how much that has to do with it. Sure, guys who have played in the OF before have had the reps and might be better as OFers but there's no reason to think that is what will cause Sano to break down while others didn't - as I understood this thread, it was concern that Sano would break down playing in the OF (as opposed to playing third). If you want to argue that he just won't be good b/c he's too big/too inexperienced/too old to learn new tricks, fine. But I don't believe that that was this thread.
