  1. Do we have scouting reports on Meyer? Is he trying to do something specific, results be damned? Or is he just struggling so much with his command right now that he has to throw things over the middle of the plate?
  2. Yep, Twins aren't trading anyone unless they are out of the race.
  3. I'd hang onto Plouffe and hope that he moves down the batting order as guys come up. His play at third defensively is really good and his bat is good enough. A lineup where he's hitting 6th or 7th could be pretty deep. If they trade him, the other team will have to give up a ton and I don't think the Twins will trade him if they are still sniffing .500. (Although they could. Ryan traded Castillo mid season). But I don't think other teams will meet the Twins price for him. And the good teams that need 3B help the most, don't have good prospects to offer back.
  4. Someone else (willhammer?) posted the stats of LSU's catcher who is supposed to go somewhere in the 4th round area.
  5. BP has a little on draft prospect Swanson, more behind the paywall. "If there’s a player in this draft class who has locked up a top five selection, it’s Swanson, and this weekend was a prime example of why he’s liked by so many in the industry. The Commodore shortstop went 4-for-11 with two walks in the weekend series for Alabama, with two of the hits going for doubles, and zero strikeouts over the three games as well. “There are certain kids who just get it, and [swanson] just appears to get it," said an AL scout. “The hit tool is an easy plus for me, and I think there might be some power coming, especially if you can make some adjustments with the lower half."
  6. Agreed. I still don't see any realistic scenario where any of the consensus top three drop to #6 but maybe whoever is #4 on our list can. (An unrealistic option would be DBacks taking a low slot guy #1, Astros nabbing Tucker and Cameron (ignoring Rodgers who I guess is a Close client) and somehow leaving Tate, Rodgers and Swanson for # 3, 4 and 6. Can't see that happening).
  7. He'll go back to AAA and be back up here again this season. He's shown some flashes but he also has a lot to work on. I think it was a good experience for him to be in the majors and I've enjoyed watching him play, but he's just not ready.
  8. Really nice to see Sano take those walks. His May numbers are fantastic - .321/.406/.625 10bb, 14k, 5 2b, 4 HR.
  9. Any word/thoughts on Nikorak?
  10. That is great because McDaniel is fairly stingy with his praise. Glad he put up that kind of outing with Ryan in attendance.
  11. I think Shane is right. Ryan has already said he hopes that Buxton will be up this year. He'll be up around mid-season.
  12. Hopefully, Eddie plays well. From a million miles away, Rosario seems more confident than Hicks does so maybe he can deal with the failures at the ML better. If so, maybe he won't struggle as much with going 0-4.
  13. So it does look like Buxton has shaken off the rust. Assuming that's true and he continues to hit .400/.500/.600 for another month, do you think the Twins promote him to AAA or skip that and put him in our OF? (Assume the Twins are still around .500).
  14. Actually, Sano isn't doing too bad in the peripherals either. His krate is a little high at 28% but considering he missed a year, that's not that bad. His walk rate is nearly 15% which is darn good, considering he missed a year. His babip is only .171 and it won't stay that low.
  15. On the plus side, Buxton has been walking a lot more lately and striking out a lot less. That's good. Hopefully, Sano gets going soon. As to Meyer, just let him keep plugging away. Not much else they can do. I'd call him up as soon as there was an opening so the ML staff can look at him. And maybe have Rick Anderson to work with him 24/7 in the meantime (isn't he technically still getting paid by us?). Trevor May said Anderson really helped him when he had trouble throwing strikes.
  16. I think Milone ends up the odd man out when Nolasco comes back but I think Nolasco will get a few more minor league starts.
  17. Agree with AM. there is too much talent there for them to continue to struggle.
  18. Well, maybe he should calm things down in KC? I thought he was for sure going to replace Yost last year if they missed the playoffs. He seems the type of manager DM wants, local writer Joe Posnanski has always spoken highly of him. The Royals are a Twins-like team. Anyhow, it looks like he wants to manage again and I hope he gets a job.
  19. Why on earth would the player's association be ok with that? Do they get a clause granting FA early if the player out plays his expected return on the contract? I know, as fans, we tend to root for the team over players but that's pretty extreme.
  20. I don't have any doubt that, if the Twins take Aiken, they'll sign him. They'll have worked something out with Close before hand. The issue is solely on how they view his medicals.
