  1. Non concur. That's how we're going to end up with Michael Pineda. Get some things done. Immediately.
  2. We're 5 days from the deadline. The Reds know where offers are falling. Make an offer that gets it done. Stop dicking around and do something to help a staff that needs help. Pay retail, it'll be OK. Yoi don't need to shop at the dollar store or wait for blue light specials every time. I don't really want to listen to excuses. Mahle would be a nice addition, at a tough but doable price. 1.3 years of control. Pull the damn trigger already.
  3. Any reason Mahle can't start for the Twins Sunday in San Diego? No? Then make it so, Falvine.
  4. The first paragraph nails it. They make so many bone headed baserunning decisions. But not all of that can be blamed on Watkins. Sending a runner home, yes. But most baserunning decisions are made (properly) by the baserunner. Going 1st to 3rd, tagging, playing it halfway, taking a base on a pitch in the dirt. These are instinctual and learned things that need to be done correctly, and the Twins are awful at this. Baserunning that should have been learned in little league and high school. Add some questionable decisions by Watkins and...uffda. Last night, for example, in the first, both Correa and Garlick made blunders on the bloop from Miranda. Garlick got picked off, but Correa was 1/3 of the way down the line and wasn't going to be able to tag and score even if Garlick doesn't get doubled off, DESPITE the left fielder leaving his feet. They're not a fast team, so the lack of stolen bases is partially explained, but also I think it's clear someone in the organization has decided to forfeit this tactic. I think that's a mistake, although I admit opinions on this may vary. Overall, the baserunning is awful.
  5. "The pen wasn't terrible this game" says all you need to know. The pen gave up the tying and winning runs, and who knows how many Duffey might have eventually surrendered.
  6. Correa's contract includes a "limited no trade clause" in 2022, and a full no trade clause in 2023 and 24. I can't find it now, but I recall reading somewhere he can prohibit the Twins from trading him to 6 teams this year. But don't quote me on that https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/minnesota-twins/carlos-correa-14168/#:~:text=Carlos Correa signed a 3,a total salary of %2435%2C100%2C000.
  7. I don't understand why they haven't tried to improve the bullpen.
  8. My personal odds would make the Sox a small favorite to win the division. "The race isn't always to the swiftest, but that's the way to bet." I believe Chicago is far and away the most talented team in the ALC. I will say I hope they don't fire LaRussa, as I think he's partly responsible for their underperformance. I'd put the Twins a close 2nd, Cleveland a distant 3rd. Deadline acquisitions could and likely will have an effect on the race. Get some help, Falvine. What're we waiting for?? Some bullpen help a month ago and this division might already be decided.
  9. Trivino. Get it done. Murphy would be great, but costly. Wouldn't mind a Trivino/Murphy package deal. Montas...meh. Road splits are worrisome, health issues, steep cost....look elsewhere.
  10. I agree. Bard isn't what I'd be looking to add.
  11. Semi-regular playing time at whose expense? Sano's ABs have to come at 1B or DH. Who sits? Miranda? Buxton's DH ABs? Arraez?
  12. It's an interesting theory. But FTR, I don't think they're adding "5-7 MPH. " More like 1-3.
  13. Quick review of Comerica: Really nice ballpark. Great sight lines, fairly close to the action. Minimal food options* in the ballpark proper, just endless repeats of the same few options, all blocking views from the concourses. Tough getting there, and leaving, but great built up area around the park for before/after. *Two really neat areas inside the park: a huge outdoor picnic area with a kid's ferris wheel behind HP with an actual working open pit BBQ that upgrades the food options by a million percent. There's also a kind of food court area with multiple good options and a merry go round. Best feature: the absute best seating I've ever seen, these are the last 10 rows or so of the lower bowl from 1st to 3rd. Spacious, comfy, table for every 2 seats, waiter service. Dunno what they cost, but from what I hear you can sneak into 1 by the 3rd inning or so.
  14. The potential tying run was on deck, with Megill on the mound. I guess opinions on this can differ, but it felt unnecessarily close to me.
  15. Sunday 1:10 pm CST: Sonny Gray (4-3, 3.71ERA) vs RHP Rony Garcia (3-2, 4.28ERA) I believe start time Sunday is 1:40 EDT, 12:40 CDT.
  16. Only reason I happen to know this is I was at Guaranteed Rate Field last night. Comerica tonight.
  17. One thing that happened is Cleveland beat the Sox last night so the Twins lead is 1.5 and 3.5, rather than 2 and 3.
  18. Are you sure? Because pretty much any random game in those days was likely to feature a ball bouncing off Hatcher's glove.
  19. Interesting idea. I wonder why nobody has proposed it before.
  20. Hopefully the Twins read The Athletic and have already made this proposal to the Reds.
  21. Concur on Carew at 2nd, Morneau at 1st. We can squeeze Killebrew in at 3rd that way. Jim Perry over both Morris and Liriano.
