    I'd have to agree. At this point, it's a complete and total fail of an offseason, and there isn't enough remaining talent available to change that. Even if there were the will, which is hard for me to believe in.

    You seem to have forgotten you already purchased the $44.49 blender two years ago. If you bought the $8.49 model, you now have two blenders that don't blend. You need to get on eBay and dump the $44.49 model. You might be able to get $8.49 for it.

    At the risk of going around in circles here...he actually said the opposite. It’s probably more of a conversation for Rocco, because despite what others think from time to time, we don’t have a Bat Phone to the dugout. He makes those calls Baldelli. Makes. Those. Calls.

    What part of "(Baldelli) makes those calls" is difficult for you to understand? Look, Falvey provides the players. I get it. Baldelli manages them. I wouldn't cry if Falvey was replaced, but in general I think he's done OK, given limited resources. Bakdelli is a disaster.

    Why would I change my opinion? Rocco writes out the lineups. Rocco makes PHing decisions. Falvey (on platooning): It’s probably more of a conversation for Rocco, because despite what others think from time to time, we don’t have a Bat Phone to the dugout. He makes those calls. It’s up to Rocco to navigate that with the players

    I don't think Gaspar was acquired as a catcher. He was acquired to be a potential solution at 1st base. A horrible solution. But a solution.

    Only 3 MLB teams address needs with quality free agents?? MLB needs to address salary caps and floors, and do better to level out revenues, sure, but c'mon. The Twins could sign some free agents

    Until MLB establishes a firm salary cap, ensuring league wide ability to compete, it'll continue to bleed customers. If it takes breaking the MLBPA to do it, so much the better.

    AVG/OBP/SLG are irrelevant to FWAR. A pitcher who gives up 10 runs on 12 hits in an inning, with no home runs, but ends up with 3 Ks and no walks, is considered to have pitched a perfect inning by FIP. Regardless if the defense is good, bad, or indifferent, by the way.

    Right. But they aren't reflected in FIP. Because fWAR ignores defense. (Except for infield pop-ups, for some reason .) So, while I agree the Twins were a poor defensive team in 2024, that's irrelevant to anything fWAR related for pitchers. FWAR doesn't care if Colorado turned 1 million double plays and the Twins zero. And just another reason fWAR is a really poor way to measure pitchers.
