True. It was a poor throw and Arraez's error all the way. BUT, that's a play that a GOOD firstbaseman (Mauer, Morneau, Cron) makes most of the time, and saves his teammate and error.

Was Miranda even mentioned by anyone? After his breakout year it seems like he would have to get a considerable amount of time in the infield next year. If it's a re-tooling year, then I'm fine with Polanco/Gordon taking the SS innings, with Arraez, Miranda, and what's left of Donaldson filling in 2b and 3b. We will all get frustrated watching substandard play at a key position, but shy spend big money (that we don't really have) on an expensive free agent when our two top prospects are a year or maybe two years away and both play SS.

Does anyone really expect that there will be a full season next year? How does a long work stoppage in 2021 fit into this scenario? Certainly lowers the cost of trading Berrios since we wouldn't have gotten much from him anyway. If there is a stoppage, will the minor leagues play? If so, this could be win/win because the youngsters get another part-year of development without the pressure of potentially moving up before they are ready.

Or maybe the Dysons, recalling a former Twin?

Decent debut for the lad. At least after the first pitch.

It seems like he's destined for a career as a left-handed-hitting Drew Butera.

Well, that didn't take long. ?

    Lovely!

When will MLB start the "pitching velocity derby" to go with the home-run derby?

Terrific news. Now, about that contract extension...

Cruz, Surely this train-wreck doesn't deserve more than one...

The Tigers are out-Twinning the Twins.

    His day is Ober.
  14. PDX Twin
    Is he Ober-rated?

Was it Dick Stuart who earned the nickname "Dr. Strangeglove." I haven't watched much this year, but today Larnach looks pretty clueless out there.
  16. PDX Twin
    Yes.

    For the Saints?
  18. PDX Twin
Either Buxton in CF or Rosario in LF catches that double. Twins pitching is awful, but the gloves aren't helping.

If Bailey followed his teammate's lead, he could drive an Ober Uber.

Will wonders never Cease? Gordon Nicked that one pretty well!

    How predictable was that AB?

They used to allow a limited number of articles each month for free. Have they stopped doing that?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/07/02/sticky-stuff-baseball-data/ Very early days, but the differences look substantial.
  24. PDX Twin
It's brutal to give up 10 runs when your starter pitches 5 2-hit, shutout innings with no walks! But then I guess that the Saints' bullpen is guys who aren't as good as the ones who do similar things for the Twins.
  25. PDX Twin
But Kohl Stewart misses out yet again.
