  1. Here would be my ranking for the year: Hitter of the year: 1) Max Kepler 2) Reynaldo Rodriguez 3) Tanner English Honorable Mention - Zach Granite Starting Pitcher: 1) JO Berrios 2) Stephen Gonsalves 3) Aaron Slegers Honorable Mention - Tyler Duffey, Matt Batts Relief Pitcher: 1) Trevor Hildenberger 2) Brandon Peterson 3) AJ Achter
  2. Assuming they stay on the same development path it'll be interesting who moves off 3B first - Trey Cabbage or Travis Blankenhorn. Right now it doesn't really matter as they are just trying to get some at-bats, plus Cabbage is in the GCL and Blankenhorn at E-Town. But I could see a conflict as early as next season if they are both on the Cedar Rapids club at some point. Granted, one of the two could take off like a rocket and be playing two levels above the other. Then they each could still play 3B, I guess. I think either one of them could move to the OF or 1B. Will be fun to watch in the future.
  3. The options don't really matter. If we're still concerned about Buck burning through his options come 2018 something has gone terribly wrong with the Twins' plan for the future. It would seem a little odd though for Buxton to spend the full rehab perid in Rochester only to be optioned for about four days prior to expaned rosters in September. I would either option him in about a week to stop the service time clock or bring him up early if he's hitting well.
  4. Wonder if they will deal at least one AA starter to open room for a promo of Slegers, Eades or Gonsalves...
  5. If by "corner guy" you mean playing in the outfield... with a glove on... I'd have to pass.
  6. If anybody is needing something from "Big Game" James, it's the Twins right now! Searching for a win...any win.
  7. Going to have to pay a premium, even for a rental, in order for the Orioles to give up the QO and the draft pick for Wieters. I wonder what chance the Twins would have at signing Wieters in the offseason? Maybe that could be their signature signing over the winter knowing that the farm system is pretty weak at the catcher position.
  8. I would like to see a Twins/Tulo trade just to see how the contract is divided up.
  9. For now I'll just take some solid outings from Kohl and hopefully the K's come at some point. He's healthy and pitching, so that's the important thing.
  10. It will be interesting to see how the SS position is handled with the Kernels, what with both Nick Gordon and Sean Miller there. I guess Miller could play some of the other infield positions. He has a reputation of being a defensive wiz at SS so I doubt it will hurt his development if he moves around some. Also, doesn't hurt to add a little infield depth with both Blake Schmidt and Trey Vavra on the DL.
  11. Alright, Cody Stashak pitches Saturday for E-town. He's my sleeper pick from this '15 draft. Been impressive in his first two starts this year.
  12. We all know Brian Navarreto can be a stud defensive catcher. But have I been seeing his name pop up more often in these recaps for his offensive contributions? Maybe I'm just imagining things...
  13. Don't mind the LOOGY O'Rourke being brought up. However, I do question the timing of it, especially with the 4-game series against the Tigers coming up before the break. Who do we use O'Rourke against.... Alex Avila? Anthony Gose? Can't use him to turn around V-Mart as he he slashes .405/.458/.548 against lefties. Tigers are a heavy right-handed lineup.
  14. Excellent article! Sounds like a great bond between Zack and Max. By the way, a little more work and Zack could give Kanzler a run for his money in the 'stache category! Got potential.
  15. Couple guys that stand out for me. First, Aaron Slegers. Kid's on a roll. At this point, he has to at least be in the conversation with some of the other top pitching prospects in the organization. Just keeps putting up the numbers and eats innings as a starter. Solid. Secondly, Engelb Vielma. Going to have start calling him "Big Stick" Vielma pretty soon. He's hitting .346 since the start of June... .346! Obviously not sustainable, or even close to sustainable. But if he can show at least some prowess with the bat he'll be a sure-fire major leaguer in some capacity in the future because he's a magician with the glove.
  16. Okay, Sano is a good start (hopefully) on fixing the offense. Now get to work on the Twins' dumpster fire of a bullpen.
  17. I hope after opponent's pitchers face Sano they mutter to themselves "You can stab him with your steely knives, but you just can't kill the beast".
  18. Biggest disappointment in the Twins organization for me this year?: The underachieving bullpen in Chattanooga. We really needed to have Nick Burdi, Jake Reed and Zach Jones pitch well this year. One or two of those guys could have really helped douse the dumpster fire that is the Twins 'pen. Doesn't look like it will happen this year.
  19. Tough week or 10 days for the Wheeler brothers at Rochester. First, Jason gets sent back down to Chattanooga and then Ryan gets released. There were two, and now there are none. Baseball's a tough game.
  20. Would someone please let me know when it's time to get nervous about Nick Burdi, Jake Reed and Zach Jones? Thanks in advance.
  21. Would someone please let me know when it's time to start getting nervous about Nick Burdi, Jake Reed and Zach Jones. Thanks in advance.
  22. Okay, I need to see AB Walker up with the big club come September, if not earlier. He may strikeout in every at-bat but I need to see it with my own eyes.
  23. C'mon Nick Burdi...need to starting picking things up here pretty soon!
  24. He's had some issues with accuracy on throws to first. But his bat will play well at the MLB level so the Twins need to find a spot for him.
