  1. What would be the easier transition after a couple years - Switching from pitching to hitting, or...hitting to pitching? Seems to me the former. If KcKay failed (gulp) at pitching after a couple years in the minors it would be easier to pick up the bat and continue your career.
  2. Bingo! My thoughts too. Buxton and Sano could be approaching free agency by the time Greene gets to the "bigs". At least McKay (or Wright) could make it on a more aggressive timeline.
  3. I noticed that Chattanooga, and the Southern League in general, has a lot of weekend series that carry over into Monday. Do they schedule longer series because of the distance between cities and the long bus rides? Cuts down on travel over the course of a season?
  4. Yeah, I like McKay a lot... think he;ll be a heck of a pitcher. Wouldn't mind seeing a 2019 rotation of Berrios, McKay, Romero...maybe Gonsalves and/or whatever young rotation pieces the Twins could get in a Dozier or Santana deal.
  5. I think you're right on this last part, Seth. At least for McKay. Read somewhere that he may have a limited workload this summer. Maybe 15 innings...2 or 3 outings. Assuming it'd be similar with Greene.
  6. I like it. When Joe's contract is up we can play McKay four days at 1B and then pitch the fifth day. He can be the A.L. homerun champ and also the Cy Young Award winner! I'd probably take McKay #1. On the other hand, I'd be intrigued to see Cincy get him #2 and see how he does in the National League. When does McKay pitch again?
  7. Almost seems like they're going to have to play through the rain tonight. Tomorrow afternoon doesn't seem that good weather-wise either. Don't think they would want to postpone two games.
  8. Gotta love the food nicknames for some of these Southern League teams.... Jumbo Shrimp, Bisquits. I'm getting hungry!
  9. Kohl...Kohl...Kohl. Man, not good. On the bright side, he did average over a strikeout per inning for the game. (Fun with small sample sizes)
  10. This! Have to believe Duffey and/or Haley are handcuffed to Santiago and Hughes on days that they pitch. Lot of short starts.
  11. I like that idea...Polanco leading off. Buxton, long term, seems more like a slugging percentage guy and not an OBP guy, I could see him settling more into a #3 hitter and not leadoff. He's going to K a little too much to be a table setter so let him hit line drives and use his speed to turn singles into doubles and doubles into triples. Rack up some RBI. Knock a few over the wall too.
  12. Do Vogelsong and Tepesch have any "outs" in their minor league deals if they are not added to the 40-man roster and don't head north? Chances we see either/or in Rochester or do they look to latch on elsewhere?
  13. Little disappointing to see guys like Cabbage and Kendrick lagging behind guys drafted last year in Kranson and Hamilton. Lets hope for good health for Trey and better contact rates from Kolton.
  14. Thought Brandon Lopez had a phenomenal year at E-Town and CR. Have to assume he was downgraded a tad since he is already age 23 and drafted as a senior out of college? Imagine he was hitting mostly against pitchers that were younger than he was. Wonder where he would be ranked if he were, say, 21 and put up those numbers with the stick?
  15. My thoughts too. Until the Dodgers make a different move to bring in a 2B, I'm assuming Brian Dozier is headed there. Now, that could change. But it hasn't up till this point. Polanco ends up at second.
  16. A few questions/thoughts: 1. Any interest in a pitcher like Chase De Jong as a 3rd or 4th piece? Not nearly enough upside? 2. What about MLB-ready OF's Toles or Thompson. 3. Any hot names on the international market this summer that will take a decent amount of coin to reel in?
  17. As big a season as Dozier had I think you need to lower the grade somewhat. Mostly for the unevenness of it. Through May 31st, Dozier slashed .202/.294/.329 with only 5 HR's. Big reason why the Twins quickly fell off the A.L. map. Don't think this can be ignored when coming up with a grade.
  18. Scott Klingenbeck would be high on my list.
  19. So, Ben Paulsen signs a MiLB deal w/ the Twins. What are we looking at here...probably a Rochester Red Wings depth player. Appears he's played much more 1B than LF over his three seasons with the Rockies. Probably a rotation between 1B and DH with Paulsen, Vargas (who has options) and Byung Ho Park. I guess it's possible any of the three could break camp with the Twins and head north.
  20. My guess: Dodgers, Angels, Phillies, Braves. Maybe even Pirates or D-Backs. Like the young pitchers in the Braves system. Phillies have some nice pieces. Not so much the Angels.
  21. Wow, wonder if there has ever been two collegiate teammates go #1 & #2 before? I guess the Vandy combo of Wright/Kendall could do that this year. Non-zero chance, at least.
  22. The other scenario we need to account for is if guys are added to the 40-man for September callups. Names like DJ Baxendale, Alex Wimmers and James Beresford. Beresford could be outrighted regardless at the end of the season, I suppose. But what happens if Wimmers and/or Baxendale really impresses out of the pen and the Twins want to get a second look in spring training? Would make things even tighter with the roster.
  23. Agree with others on risking Boshers. But with his spot, the 7th guy I would grab is Aaron Slegers. I'm probably in the minority on that but I think he has a chance to be solid.
