  1. For all the reasons posted here and mentioned over the course of Kemp's career, I'd pass on Kemp. I like the idea of trying to sign Bautista if he's available. Maybe he can get an offensive spurt with a new team and be a good mentor for Sano?
  2. Love Eduardo Escobar! Defensive specialists are a dime a dozen. Escobar provides offense and defense. My 2 cents: I fear that Sano will have more injury problems, just because he's a really big guy. This year, the focus should be on keeping him healthy and Escobar on 3rd more frequently.
  3. While not all that spectacular, I like the signings of Pineda and Rodney. I'm wondering if we should be looking at this as an indictment of the Twins farm system. When I heard Gonsalves' (6' 5") best pitch was a change-up, I gave up on him. Then I read on this board that Nick Gordon isn't as great a prospect as I was lead to believe. Please tell me if I've got this all wrong....
  4. Anyone know how bad this "vision issue" really is?
  5. Hi ya'll. Back from a self-imposed sabbatical. If memory serves, May has a lower back issue. As a RP, he had time to heal. As a SP, the lower back issue was exacerbated, i.e. longer stints throwing. I'm not sure there is a way to fix lower back issues. Especially, if your profession is MLB pitcher.
  6. And Eddie Rosario or Byron Buxton swinging wildly at a ball in the dirt: Is that an example of "The great eye of a batter"? I find your argument to be a complete fallacy. On any given pitch, both batter and umpire are making assumptions on that pitches trajectory: will it or will it not be in the strike-zone, at some point in time. The batter, in split second that a pitched ball passes into the "zone" above the plate. The umpire sees the whole thing. Baseball from it's very inception, was created for humans. In the field, behind the plate and in the stands. See you at the next version of Twins Daily "Monday Morning Quarterback Club".
  7. So, what league is this Per Se guy playing in?
  8. ouchie...
  9. I think Paul Molitor stays. Surely you can point out some flubs, but so what? Sometimes, things work. Sometime, it goes to ****. I believe he's done the best he could with what he's got. He and his coaching staff have been doing their best to develop these young players. The biggest problem is the pitching staff, both MLB and MiLB. The recent work of Falvey and Levine proves that point. Recently, yeah, the Twins got beat up. Of course they did. Look who they were playing. Anyone short of a resurrected Sparky Anderson could make a big turn around with this team. Patience is needed. Not sure at all that a change in manager will help anything. If management chooses to do so, I think that guy may already be in place: Jeff Pickler.
  10. Given their recent moves, I have to wonder what is the timeline for Falvey and Levine. So far, it doesn't sound like next year....
  11. Add in Sano's defense at 3rd, I believe there's plenty of playing time for Esco.
  12. Everytime I see Polanco at SS, I see the same thing: bad footwork. Not doubt that his defensive problems are following over to his offense. As others have said, the trade market for 2nd basement isn't all that hot. Dig deeper into other team MiLB and get more volume...
  13. I don't remember seeing or hearing anyone saying that.
  14. I certainly don't thing Falvey and Levine are done. They've had their time evaluating the system. Kennys Vargas: Gone. He has a spurt every time he's called up, then falters. His lack of defense is another problem. In the past, I've said that he plays well for a big guy. I don't believe new management will be deterred by that. Same for Park. Ervin Santana: Gone. New management's statement earlier about the 'unfortunate reality' makes any case for Santana null and void. There's always some team looking to fill a spot in the rotation. Santana's that guy. Eddie Rosario: Maybe Gone. He's still only 25 and looks like he's turning things around. New management may see that as a reason to both keep him or trade him. Byron Buxton. Maybe Gone. Yep, I said it. I don't believe in sacred cows. Zack Granite has played well as Buxton replacement, just not the flash. He is, however, hitting .286. Granite, er granted, it's a small sample size. I'm interested in 2 things: 1. what does new management really think of Buxton. More importantly, 2. what do other teams think of Buxton.
  15. Thad Levine: The GM said his team's "unfortunate reality" has changed in the past week. http://www.startribune.com/gm-thad-levine-says-twins-looking-more-long-term-after-rough-week/437418403/ I wonder how deep [or should I say, "high up" Levine and Falvey will go on the roster. I think the only guy that is untouchable is Sano. Not sure I'm firm on that. I'd just like to see a reduction in strike outs over the rest of the year.
  16. "Resistance if futile. You must comply" . Sincerely, Borg.
  17. It's going to be interesting to see what the Twins new FO does prior to 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, July 31st. Two 40 man roster positions still open, correct? That's gotta mean something, right???
  18. First: Was this Jaime Garcia’s first and last start with the Minnesota Twins? Man, wouldn't that be something! LOL Second: .... After he showed up with migraine headaches and needing to sit out several games in a row, they changed their minds sent Buxton to Rochester. Read about Buxton's migraines elsewhere. Once a month. Migraines are aggravated by things like stress, physical activity and bright, sunny days. Which kinda leads to...... Third: Let’s just say the Twins are indeed sellers after the weekend. Who stays? Who goes? Not trying to be a mean guy here, but with Buxton's migraine issues, is he really that Safe? Should he be? Extra Innings: the Twins only have 38 people committed to the 40-man roster. Could the last two slots come from outside the organization or are there two internal candidates ready for those? My gut feeling: I think new management has done there homework on inside candidates. Outside the org.
  19. There are many, many fine baseball simulation games available. I still favor the human elements.
  20. This was the first time I've heard about Buxton's migraines. From reports I've found, he has migraines roughly once a month. I've also looked up "How to get rid of migraines". Basically, it read like 'put a list of possible remedies on a dart board and throw'. Stress and physical activity can aggravate it. Things are starting to make sense. I wish him well.
  21. Falvey just cleared out JR Murphy. I'm expecting more, like Park and Vargas and some of the MiLB pitchers that are getting hurt repeatedly. No abject loyalty in the new FO.
  22. WHO IS SAFE (probably)? Personally, for me, if I'm serious about building via trades, there is no "safe" list. A single, talented player can garner more talented players. Falvey and Levine completed another trade, this one clearing Murphy off the team and picking up a nice AA prospect. I would expect more of those types of moves. Saw a couple articles about Twins drawing interest in Santana, Garcia, Kintzler, Dozier. Excellent, although I'd kinda like to see Garcia pitch just one time. Somewhere in those trades, I'd hope there is a closer replacement. I don't have a lot of faith in Ryan Pressly as a closer. If someone overwhelms me on Rogers, yeah, I'd trade him. Heck, face the facts, I'd trade practically anyone. Mom's not with us anymore, so she's safe...
