  1. In the end, I believe the 100 mph fastball fad will only cause more shoulder injuries than anything else. Surely, there are freaks of nature like Nolan Ryan. It just seems like the Twins have had a fair share of ACL injuries in the MiLB.
  2. http://40.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l9e6afvnRR1qzniimo1_500.png piqued ?
  3. And maybe those extra 3-4 teams inquiring about Dozier will push the Dodgers to include more of their upper-level prospects for Dozier and a couple Twins prospects...
  4. I just listened to the interview. Falvey is not showing his cards. He's letting teams know that a trade is possible, but has no problem going into 2017 with Dozier on the team. He did a good job. Now, let's see what happens.
  5. I'd be really interested to see a list of the KC players that would be made available. And the 4-5 teams looking into a Dozier trade. Fantastic that Dozier is at the meetings, no matter how he got there. EDIT: actually, the KC moves are already happening: https://kingsofkauffman.com/2016/11/24/kc-royals-releasing-c-tony-cruz-clarifies-payroll-picture/
  6. HEY! Lookie, lookie: The Pirates are making Antonio Bastardo available. They'll even throw in some cash. Anyone in a gambling mood on the lefty? http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/
  7. Sounds like they've been at it for a while now. A deal has gotta be close, right?
  8. Julio Urias or Jose De Leon? Why not Julio Urias AND Jose De Leon? Hell, take Yasiel Puig off their hands to make the deal
  9. Then Urias and De Leon are in play.
  10. And here, too: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/24421-yorman-landa-not-tendered-a-2017-contract/
  11. Yeah, you're right. I just looked at the BR 40 man roster. Jason Castro is on it.
  12. If I'm reading this correctly, aren't Walker, Dean, Centeno and Albers off the 40 man roster? 4 spots for the Rule 5 draft?
  13. Washington, DC. Seriously? In the winter? This is what happens when you wait until the last minute to plan your vacation. BTW: nice stream
  14. Needs a change to his delivery. His head needs to be down when delivering a pitch. Too early to pick on him ?
  15. I'm with DocBauer: why isn't Eduardo Escobar in the starting SS conversation more? He had injuries this past year and he was called on to several different positions. I believe Polanco is better at 2nd than SS. Does anyone really know what Sano is doing this off-season? Last article I saw said he was going to spend a couple months in New York, where he has a home, to work on his conditioning. Roc Nation is also located there. They had better get with Sano on his conditioning. That or get him an OF instructor. Catching: With Murphy and Garver as the then current choices, I have no issue with signing Castro. FIN: Good pitching helps poor fielders. Or avoids them. Whatever....
  16. Tyler Duffey could greatly benefit from a guy like Bannister. I'm hoping the relative silence from Derek Falvey is because he's working on building up an organization that can help the Twins take the advantage of "science of baseball".
  17. I am up in the air on Santiago and Gibson. Winning wise, I see not much beyond a couple +- .500 pitchers. If there are not much in starting pitching ready in the MiLB for the beginning of the season, I'd keep Santiago and Gibson for the only thing they seem capable of: innings eaters. Of the rest: Definitely keep Escobar. Probably the starting SS. Probably keep Kinsler. Had a good year last year; suffered some with over use at end of the season. Pressly: No. At 28 he has potential?
  18. I would say this: with current options of Murphy and Garver, catching became a priority and a priority that can [was] quickly addressed. Trading for some quality pitching prospects is going to be a pretty long, drawn out process. Pitching is valued higher than just about anything in baseball. FA starting pitcher signings have gone WAY off the charts. IF a trade of Dozier to LA is still being worked on, a return highlighted by 3 LA pitching prospect is probably a tough sell. Just one man's opinion.... Derek Falvey and Thad Levine sound like a couple pretty smart guys. My bet the pitching priority is being looked in organizations not named Los Angels Dodgers. Edit: Looks like I'm WAY behind on this comment
  19. I agree that pitching [near and future] is a real need. Target one of the Dodgers top o' the line MiLB starters and when the Dodgers start offering the lessor of that group, add more MiLB starters/relievers to the basket. I'm intrigued with the possibility of adding Yasiel Puig. Very good contract for only 2 more years. You could get one of 2 Puig's: the goofball he was last year or a pissed off Puig who's out to show LA was wrong. With no real evidence [other than he in now 25 yrs. old] I place my bet on the latter. One of De Leon or Alvarez A couple/few young A, AA pitching prospects Bellinger [probably dreaming] Puig Add whatever needed to MN side to make it work.
  20. Well, again, 1st year of the new regime. There are a lot of things that need to be done and I take the signing of Castro as a plus. No confidence in Murphy and I just don't know about Garver. I see the Castro signing as a need. I'll leave it to history do determine how good Castro is to the pitching staff. I'll just say this about his offense: Only 22% of MLB pitchers are left-handed. While Castro's splits against right-handed pitchers is nothing to call home about, his splits against LHP is WAY below that. Full-time 78% of the time and let's see if either of the other catchers develop. Strong start? Umm, IDK. Needed first steps? Yeah. Call it "good / strong" start.
  21. Falvey worked in a successful organization and bringing in veterans to work with young players was part of the process. I say, let's let the process play out.
  22. Oh to be a fly on Falvey and Levine's wall.....
  23. I don't know when the video of Castro framing a pitch was posted, but that sure looks like cheating to me. EXCELLENT SIGNING !
