More from Berardino on GM search, via MLB Trader: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/10/twins-hire-thad-levine-gm-rangers.html "Sawdaye over the weekend was an assistant GM position, so it would appear that Sawdaye was never in the running for the No. 2 spot in their operation that will now go to Levine."

Thanks for posting, Parker. Another great GM prospect! And there's probably a lot more out there. After weeks of uncertainty, the Minnesota Twins’ front office is starting to materialize. This is the thing that many of use have been wondering about. I've posted that Falvey may not be involved with the search or any decision making because he is bound by contract to work for the Indians. Sounds like the Twins upper management is in charge. Falvey is probably in the mix, just not the decision maker. EDIT: Well, if I had read all of the StarTribune article on the GM search, I would have seen this: "Falvey was announced as the Twins’ hire on Oct. 3 but will not officially take over until the World Series is over. There has been limited communication between the Twins and Falvey, as much as the Indians and Major League Baseball are comfortable with." So, there it is. Any way this situation plays out, it's a new world order for the Minnesota Twins Front Office. Yep, that's them.... http://cdn.inquisitr.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/wwe-rumors-nwo-kevin-nash-return.jpg

Article: Discussing Domestic Abuse
HitInAPinch replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I was just going to post something similar. I'm not an expert by any means, I just guided the creation of a 501c3 board that could support the cause. #1 What Police do in Domestic Violence situations is exactly the slogan you see on police cars: Serve and Protect. Number 1 job is to listen, make a determination of who the victim is and get them to a safe harbor. What is preached via lectures, media events, fundraiser, etc. is for those victims is to get to a safe place FIRST and call 911 from there. Are the Police always right? Not always. The thing is to get them separated and let the investigators make the determination. #2 Yes, men are victims of Domestic Violence, too. I've witnessed it in a man, several times bigger than his wife, being attacked in public verbally and physically by his wife. Not being trained, I contacted the people at the Healing House. They were already aware, but couldn't interview until either the police were called or the victim asks for help. After a little more that 30 years of marriage, the man contacted the Healing House for assistance. They are now divorced and a restraining order in place.- 37 replies

Article: Discussing Domestic Abuse
HitInAPinch replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Seth, I really appreciate you writing this article. In the 8 years that I lived in SW New Mexico, I was one of the 'Founding Fathers' of The Friends of The Healing House. The Healing House is a domestic violence center located in Deming, NM. My job as President was to lead "The Friends" through the 501c3 application and the IRS non-profit status, introduction of The Friends into the community and basic building of "The Friends". Fund raising is always a challenge. I ran across this just last week: Amazon Smile. It's Amazon' charitable arm, will 1 million charities listed. The Friends of The Healing House is on the list. "The difference is that when customers shop on AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com), the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to the charitable organizations selected by customers." Just a little something for people to think about during the approaching holiday season. Thanks, David- 37 replies

Article: 40-Man Roster Decisions: The Hitters
HitInAPinch replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Same, here. Not willing to move him around just yet or off 3rd just yet. Need to see what kind of shape he's in coming into Spring Training. Show me the dedication and take it from there.- 37 replies

Article: 40-Man Roster Decisions: The Hitters
HitInAPinch replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Eduardo Escobar needs to be back with the Twins. 1st I think he's the Twins starting Short Stop. He also filled in at 3rd last year. 2nd, I don't really believe Polanco is a starting SS right now. As far as being graceful defensively, Polanco and Sano are on the same level. Not good, not hideous :-) Right now, I see Polanco as the utility guy getting a lot of playing time. Sano needs to hit more consistently to be a starting 3rd bagger. Plouffe doesn't HAVE to go. I just don't see a spot for him. Grossman should go. Slow-footed, mediocre arm. DanSan: I've always liked him, but realistically, is there a place for him? Go. I'm still working on the whole conversation with the new PoBO: Hey Derek Falvey, we really need to trade the guy that just hit 42 HR's last year. LOL- 37 replies

Article: 40-Man Roster Decisions: The Pitchers
HitInAPinch replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Overall, I think the Twins [and Twins fans] need to get over this 100 mph thing. Occasionally throwing 100? Yeah, OK. But there's a lot more to pitching than just that. Bosher, Kintzler, etc. are band-aids. I'm not 100% all-in on 'tearing off the band-aids', but I'm also not on the side of holding back a MiLB'er if they have a great showing in spring training. In the end, it will be waiting on the Indians playoff run to end and hear and see what new PoBO Falvey has in mind and the marching orders he gives to Antony.- 43 replies

With a 6 week schedule, I started to question the importance of AFL. Then I read this: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/winterleagues/about/?league=119&id=history "How good are the players in the Arizona Fall League? The 2014 All-Star Game in Minneapolis featured 36 AFL alums. Nearly 60 percent of all AFL players make a Major League roster, with an incredible 212 All-Stars, 12 MVPs, four Cy Young Award Winners, three World Series MVPs, 66 Silver Sluggers, 58 Golden Gloves, and 25 Rookies of the Year. Ok, then

Article: Ninth Wonder: What To Do At Closer?
HitInAPinch replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
May: I think we can take him completely out of the RP discussion. He has, what sounds like, a congenital back problem that get's aggravated with more frequent use. With 4 days rest between starts, he still on occasion needs and extra day or 2 rest.- 63 replies

Article: Ninth Wonder: What To Do At Closer?
HitInAPinch replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Agree. Kintzler is a 1 inning pitcher. I think Perkins has the same problem as Kintler. Kintzler is also a sinkerballer. So a "5.8 K/9 rate" isn't bad, just not what people want to see. A WHIP of 1.233 is pretty good, even with those 8th inning appearances. I'm not promoting Kintzler as THE closer. Chargois improved a lot through the end of the season. I'd cross my fingers and put him in as A closer, i.e. Dual Closers. Tonkin is the one, youngish RP I don't really trust. I've seen him and a couple other young relievers choke when brought in with runners on. I guess we should assign that to youth / inexperience. I'm more for signing a Holland or Feliz to be in a co-closer role. Either way, any way or whatever way, Twins bullpen for next season is a fun topic!! Thanks, Nick !!- 63 replies

Article: Pondering A Plan For Jorge Polanco
HitInAPinch replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Same here. I don't really understand the rush. We've got 2 serviceable guys and a bunch of young players all around. I think the Twins played Polanco a lot at SS last season as a 'wish and a prayer' that he could keep the job. IDK. Keeping Polanco in the MLB in 2017 is the right move. Who knows; at this point he may be a super sub. Or we could start over with a fresh bowl: http://www.factslides.com/imgs/i48.jpg -
"Keep in mind a high school right-handed pitcher has never been taken No. 1 overall." I can't figure this out. Why would this matter? Anyway, there's several things mentioned that I really like: Loose arm Fastball with considerable movement Everything Belinksy said about his delivery Only wish he was a few years older

Article: Pondering A Plan For Jorge Polanco
HitInAPinch replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'm curious: how do Escobar and Polanco compare defensively at SS? I know Escobar was hurt once, maybe twice, last year. And then there's Polanco's SSS. Personally, I didn't think Polanco was all that bad. Are looked pretty good there. Footwork needs some help/experience. I know you're a lot better at looking this up than I am ;-) -

Article: Out With The Old
HitInAPinch replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Park had season ending wrist surgery [damaged tendon on back of right hand]. This right after homering eight times in 10 games through late July. Because of the surgery, I have my doubts that any team would take Park and his salary. The July explosion makes me want to see more of Park. -

Article: Out With The Old
HitInAPinch replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Moving Dozier to a different position at this point in his career seems pretty foolish. Definitely trade him now before making a decision to lessen his skill level. Trevor Plouffe has turned into an inconvenience to many. Is Plouffe a better defender that Sano at 3rd? Absolutely no question. Can Sano develop into a better defender than he is now? I never say no. But, no, I highly doubt it. Is Sano a better hitter than Plouffe? Not really enough AB's to say for sure. Overall, yeah, Sano could be. Next season will be huge for Sano. Mauer: See post #17. The absolute best you can hope for is that Mauer's late season leg injury leads him to accept a contract buy-out. Ervin: The starting staff needs a veteran presence. As does the position players. Which leads to my final point: Are Twins Daily readers really ready for a couple more seasons of large losses? Dumping veterans for shiny, young plays seems like a great idea. And maybe some of the younger veterans [Rosario, Escobar, Park ] can step up and become the new leaders. [ I think it might do Rosario a world of good] IDK, but I'm more into seeing the development of Sano, Kepler, Buxton, Polanco, Berrios, Duffey, Rogers, Light, May, Chargios, Centeno, etc, etc., before lurching too far into a veteran dump. -

Is Paul Molitor Defensible For The Twins?
HitInAPinch commented on Ted Schwerzler 's blog entry in Off The Baggy
Personally, I would not assume that Falvey would just come in and start changing everything. He's an analytical-type person. They typically do not act that way. -
Well, Santana and Kinzler were pretty obvious picks for #'s 1 and 2. Except for someone http://31.media.tumblr.com/40ceb67a978526becfc7ba0996cf127f/tumblr_inline_nf743rkUAX1rd4gk8.gif This year, I'm just keeping my eye on the real prize: Development. There was the expected mix of good results, some not so good, some with a SSS/trending good and some 'why are you here??'

With the number of young people being brought up this year, I wonder if it's a good idea to dump an entire staff. For development reasons alone, I don't think a mass firing is a good idea.- 43 replies

HitInAPinch replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I point to the work Allen and staff have been doing with Jose Berrios. Not all there, but definitely improvement. Taylor Rogers has been trending up, as well. In the end, I'm betting Falvey goes for one of his pitching coaches from the Cleveland organization.- 43 replies

But, as the PoBO, will Falvey actually being the guy making the trades? All I'm saying is, it'll be interesting to see what the FO structure will look like.
