  1. One or two of Corey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco and Danny Salazar would have to get injured or completely flop for the Indians to miss out on the WS again.
  2. I confess I jumped on Pressly there a little. He was just one of many bullpen guys that got overused because of a non-performing starting staff. Like the rest of the bullpen, limited use will make things better. Just like the starters! Ooop Ack !!
  3. Gut feelings: Santiago, Gibson, Pressly and Kintzler are space fillers until something better comes along. Actually, I'd say that about a majority of the starters for sure. Don't care if Gibson was "Twins Pitcher of the Year". Slight praise, considering the Twins starters. Escobar: Personally, I wouldn't replace him with a guy that has minimal experience at shortstop like Polanco. I don't expect Escobar to have a high trade value, unless some other team, in the pennant race, is unluck, their starter is injured and they have no real replacement. I like Polanco a lot, but believe 2nd is by far his best position. I think we'll see a Dozier trade before or around the All-star break.
  4. "regular batting order discussions with Jack Going, the Twins' director of baseball research." This. I don't think the Twins lineups will be looking like the "traditional" lineups anymore.
  5. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h194/GOODSTUFF1852/LIFESTYLE/fat11.gif Mid-season form?
  6. It's kind of a time honored tradition to bring in veterans like these 4 to fill out a roster. Over the past few years, the Twins have been bringing them in as starters. I still have some questions about Kepler, Rosario, Polanco and any of the young SP's and RP's [and to a lesser extent Buxton and Sano], so signing young veterans, as backups now makes a lot more sense. I'd prefer seeing job descriptions like "contact hitter/great OBP/OPS guy" or "late-career renaissance, with uncanny ability to get hitters out", but this is still the Twins. And their record of the the past few years doesn't exactly draw the best of the rest....
  7. Gimenez seems like the kind of guy you're team is either: A rebuilding team that's a long ways off A contending team that still needs a backup catcher, but want to save a little in payrollGarver is already 26. Need to push him. Plus: Castro is a left-handed hitter and hits lefties poorly. Garver is a righty hitter. Better combo. Really wish Murphy had turned out to be a better hitter....
  8. It's it's waaaaaaaaaaaay to early, etc. Sure hope that isn't copy-write protected.....
  9. Need to update your spelling. Byung Ho Park now wants to be called ByungHo Park. "Concerned that people were calling him “Byung” rather than “ByungHo,” he informed the Twins this spring that he prefers the space be removed from the Americanized version."
  10. Ah, the mock lineup before the real lineup comes out....
  11. Now 8-3. Somebody here musta jinx'd 'em. Where the heck is the moderator! They must be expelled!!
  12. I like Park a lot more than Vargas in the field. And I think he'll hit better than him, too. Just a hunch....
  13. Is that the "best player on the planet, and that's no exaggeration." guy? Yeah, read your blog on him yesterday. If only......
  14. I would suggest that, with new management, there will be less concern/commitment to veteran pitchers and more looking towards the future. I would also suggest that with Flavey and Levine at the helm, those young pitchers you mention will really have to prove themselves to be MLB quality, not just MiLB warriors.
  15. "There is a dearth of 1B/DH types" Is it just me or isn't this a good thing? I think we need to get beyond these one dimensional players and use this roster spot for more athletic players that can contribute more on the field. There just ain't a lot of "Big Papi's" around.
  16. Interesting that other organizations bring players to Spring Training more as a show [a week or so], where the Twins actually have them interact with current players.
  17. In a word: Yes. At 19 yrs old, I'm curious: are we believing this "Best Player on the Plant" stuff. IMHO, Plants are pretty stationary. ;-) Article from MLB.com: http://m.mlb.com/news/article/216971522/cuban-luis-robert-top-international-prospect/ "starred for Cuba's 16-and-under league as a 14-year-old and began playing in the 18-and-under league at 15, hitting .325 and leading the league with 21 steals his first year"
  18. Like that the Twins are looking long term at shortstops. And, of course, now that the Twins are interested the stinkin' new Collective Bargaining Agreement has locked up spending on the amateur international market. The man is keeping the Twins down. Again. DAMN THE MAN!!
  19. What the.... Baseball? Already?!?
  20. I like Escobar and believe he deserves another shot. He injured his hamstring and, well, Nunez caught fire and took over. Trading Dozier could/would be really nice if we got a couple really good pitching prospects. And it would clear the way for Polanco to play [at least by my eyes] his best position. I'd also like to hear what Polanco has done over the off season to make himself a better shortstop.
  21. Polanco to LF? Why? I'm looking at his MiLB record, he's only been in the OF 11 times. I see Escobar as the starting SS, because Polanco looked pretty bad there last year. I see Polanco as more of a 'super-sub' player until 2nd gets opened up, somehow. I don't think more MiLB time would do anything for him. Could be some service time issues, IDK. I haven't seen Adrianza play, but see a real need for a few defensive-minded players on this team.
  22. Overall, I believe Sano's ability to hit a ball a long ways will resolve all 3B defensive issues....
  23. Romero is one that the Twins really, really need to work out.
  24. pfft. i coulda done that. Always loved watching him pitch.
