  1. I'm with Walt from the great MN town of Meal: The art form of Sarcasm has been lost after a single game. All Hail Meal!! P.S. DynoBites are yummy
  2. OMG, is Sano fat again? When the heck did that happen?
  3. 3 days of crappy weather. GOODBYE BALTIMORE!
  4. On Buxton and pitch recognition: Just like Sano getting called up last year, it's all about the walks. On Sano's K's: Really, is anyone surprised? Pitchers already had a book on him. Here's hoping he adjusts. Finally: It's 2 stinkin' games ...
  5. IMHO: A lot of good things in this game. Sano looked good in right. Not a finished product [needs to speed up his throws] and that double over his head was a play many MLB rightfielders would have played the same way. Pressly, Abad and May in the bullpen. Mauer and Escobar hitting. My only real criticism: with such a crappy start to the game, why not rotate players in like Kelly used to do early in the year? Get D. Santana in there and see if he can extend his SP hitting. Get Arcia in there to see if he'll start hitting. Heck, I'd even run Nunez out there. 161 to go
  6. 1/2 inning completed and you guys are already at 10 pages of comments. Impressive
  7. Hope springs eternal, but Twins really, really need a good start this year.
  8. 81 - 81. E. Santana takes the challenge as the Ace and produces. Gibson stays steady; a plus .500 starter. Hughes and Nolasco fall to injuries, etc. Twins suffer during the acclimation of Duffy and Berrios to the MLB. Tommy Milone stays steady. Twins hitting and defense are a tick above average, which keeps the team average. With hope for a better 2017 with youth being integrated to MLB.
  9. At the least, I think Rosario will be the most fun to watch!
  10. Incredible throw by D. Santana in last nights game. Too bad it ended with a clank off Centeno's glove.
  11. Late 80's, early 90's: them were the days!
  12. Twins organizational response to David Ortiz [ at least it should be.... ] https://youtu.be/FWBUl7oT9sA
  13. He's a big guy, no question. However, he really, really needs to watch his weight and get in better shape. Depending on natural talent will only take him so far.
  14. Nolasco in the rotation is all on Duffy. Some how, all he heard was "work on your change-up" and missed on the part where he had to earn the job. Nobody set him up.
  15. Yesterday, Fox Sports North played [replayed?] a brief documentary on Sano, how/where he grew up, etc. For all those who re-post "Sano opted to hang with his friends" should take into consideration the environment he grew up in. AND, watch the video.
  16. "working a full count in 28% of his at-bats (hat tip Nick Nelson), but got on via the walk 15.8% of the time." Help me out here. Is the 15.8% walk rate based on total AB's or is it "and of those full count AB's, he walked only 15.8% of the time." ? Is it possible that Sano turns into a triple digit BB/K guy like Thome?
  17. Reusse did a little back-peddling / clarification today. http://www.startribune.com/five-follow-ups-on-the-sano-issue/373844931/
  18. Ok, Homers [and I don't mean the old guy that wrote the Iliad and the Odyssey or the fat, yellow dude] that's a lot of praying. The whole "So, no surprise that he struggled, but his star shines no less bright than it did a year ago" thing is getting long in the tooth. Seeing is believing. His stroke in SP looked a lot better. Pitch recognition is still an issue. Buxton is still a ways from that 5th tool, will probably never get to that level. But the Twins need the rest of the package in CF this year. Options? Yes. Great options? No.
  19. That's where you lose me. "As of now" is not a "natural" position. Sano started as a shortstop and grew out of the position. Was shortstop his natural position? As far as his play at 3rd: he looked like a guy who could out hit most any defensive limitations he has. I'm still thinking 1st or DH are his long term future.
  20. This would be my summary, as well. He's a big kid, who will be a big person the rest of his life. And the Twins should get over the whole "he's to young to not be in the field" thing and set him up at DH. After watching Park play 1B, he'd be my choice for RF. He looked very graceful around the bag. I don't know if he's ever played OF before or anything about his arm, but just a gut feeling.....
  21. Well, one man's opinion here: Sano has just a partial season in the MLB and I'd think it would behoove Sano to get into better shape to better his chances of being productive in the future.
  22. You give notice to an "employee #1" that they need to improve in a specific area and a couple months later, nothing has changed. Then, at the same time as this criticism of that employee, it's announced, in the same publication, that "employee #2" was being specifically trained to take over for "employee #1" when he is no longer capable of completing his assigned task. To be blunt: Sano was given 2 tasks for the fall / winter leagues: 1. get in better shape / lose weight and 2. start learning how to play OF. Playing OF was the lessor of the 2. Oh, like I've said before, Sano has the ability to out hit his defensive problems. No question there, unless he doesn't take care of himself. Danny Santana will have his back in late innings. And that's not something I would have expected to hear about a guy being proclaimed and a future superstar.
