  1. sssshh..... Suzuki yanks another one....
  2. Checklist Hell, 1st inning Water, Muskegon River
  3. That's gotta be it. Made all Suzuki needed was getting challenged. For a change.
  4. Conference on the mound: Dean: sorry Zuk. I'm trying to get the ball up.... Suzuki: yeah, hurry up. I forgot my cup at home and the boys have been hanging low, like forever!
  5. from what I've seen, Berrios is overthrowing. His breaking pitches aren't much different from his fastball.
  6. Berrios is working his way back to Triple A
  7. uh oh, here comes Allen. GET YOUR HELMUTS ON !!
  8. Is that a lot? Hard to tell these days.....
  9. I was expecting Polanco to give Nunez a day off at short and Mastroianni giving Santana a day off. Proving Mastroianni is more than a bump on the bench. Nah....
  10. I wasn't typing at all about Hughes. Not unless I replied to the wrong quote
  11. That leg kick / timing mechanism should lessen Buxton's swinging at those low - outside pitches.
  12. Starting from the original post, last sentence: "I wonder how TR will justify the move now that its clear we should be using this season to test out the new kids." So, would we be applying this to everyone on the roster? Or are we excluding Arcia and Sano and their current production? Arcia has a .227 BA, Sano .229. OPS for both, average and below. 84 and 152 PA's respectively. SSS or in other words: "IMHO, still early for that." That's what I was trying to point out. Are you getting this now? If we're judging everyone the same, at this point in the season, Arcia and Sano would be considered. And if they ARE included, there are in fact replacements available: Kepler and Buxton. Sorry if this confuses you.
  13. I think I was pretty clear. If you're going to judge a roster by a fairly short sample size, then Sano and Arcia would be part of that discussion. And that's why I started with: "IMHO, still early for that."
  14. IMHO, still early for that. If we were to apply this evenly over the entire roster, Arcia and Sano would be on that list of players to be pushed aside. Their performances have declined appreciably.
  15. A little nostalgia. I was watching this game on TV. http://www.startribune.com/a-memorable-baseball-brawl-at-met-stadium/202854041/ It was comically watching Craig Kusick run from pile to pile, grabbed Brewer's and tossing them aside. Bobby Darwin was pretty active, too.
  16. I got your "culture of toxic masculinity" ............. Fill in the rest
  17. A Molina that's not a catcher? Man, did I lose interest quickly :-) The leg kick they're working on with Buxton isn't about hitting for power at all. It's timing. There's a couple articles in the Strib that mentions him today. Sounds like he won't be back anytime soon. Good. The concerns about health are still there [pulled for back spasms recently]. http://www.startribune.com/twins-in-no-rush-to-bring-buxton-back-up/379598261/ http://www.startribune.com/twins-postgame-buxton-heating-up-but-twins-haven-t-talked-about-a-promotion/379591531/
  18. As always, Matt: a great read! "the Twins executed a double steal, with Carew swiping second as Tovar stole home" Is it just me? Or are there others that would love to see the Twins doing something like this now?
  19. Nice writeup, Doc! The thing that Santana does better than most is the pace of the game. You'll see some pitchers fiddle around the mound and watch the catcher run through every sign before he selects the pitch he wants. Santana goes out there with a plan. If it's a young [and FABULOUS] catcher like Centeno, he calls him out to the mound. Duffey: I don't think a SSS is an issue. He's got 82 innings in over 2 season. He's a keeper. With a little luck and support, he could be a Greg Maddox-type pitcher. Berrios, 14 MLB innings is a REAL SSS. It's not very good. Pretty sure he'll get a couple more MLB starts. Gibson: Always thought his upside is a .500 innings eating pitcher. Nolasco: Stop me if you've heard this before. A few good starts at the beginning of the year, then 1 bad start followed by a few more bad starts. THEN, a trip to DL. The pattern is already re-emerging, Hughes: Like Nolasco, nothing new here. Meyer: the rotation really needs a KO guy like Meyer could be. Tighten the bolts on his neck. Or whatever....
  20. Centeno fidgets behind the plate a lot...
  21. oh, no,oh, no,oh, no..... etc. Jepsen is warming up
