  1. Has Nunez become the veteran leader they've been looking for??
  2. Typically, when people say "5 in one inning" and "Twins" they usually mean hotdogs...
  3. Hmmmm, not a bad idea. But down by 2??
  4. Yeah, especially Dozier. He has really nice hair.
  5. Wow, didn't see that coming........ :fenforcer: :s-instagib:
  6. New explanation: Twins dugout was razzing him for not running. So Donaldson say F U while standing right infront of the umpire. whatever, BAD MOVE
  7. Yup. And after seeing the replay, it looked like Donaldson was saying F U Edit: should have added "while jogging back to the dugout"
  8. Bert giving us info about the umpiring rotation, while missing Donaldson getting ejected. sigh...
  9. So we're anti hindsight? I'm up with that. No need to keep going around in circles. So, here's an original thought: Where did the Twins have the most success? The Metrodome. The right-field baggie. Fly balls disappearing in the Teflon dome. A "turf" where average ground ball outs rocketed through the infield. And the "OMG noise". All of which were a substantial advantage. How did they win 2 World Series? 4 wins each in the Dome. The Twins then seem to be pretty close to the Twins now [brunansky, Gaetti, Smalley, etc.] with a few notable exceptions from back then. That ballpark was a distinct advantage for the Twins. I haven't been to Target field, but with the Twins lineup, it's a competitive disadvantage: literally playing on an even field with the rest of the league. Answer: The Twins need the alternative-world version of the players that have now. The "Million Dollar Man" version: bigger, smarter, faster.
  10. I would "Like" your comment, but somehow I'm out of "Like's" Yeah, I'd say this is a pretty big dollop of Hindsight. Those minor league signings were to fill up the Spring Training rosters. The "gee, would could have signed all these great plays" I always follow with the question: "You think great players would want to sign with the Twins?" Who ever expected Buxton to fall as hard as he did. Rosario, I'll now admit, was expected. Same with Dozier, Hughes, Nolasco Jepsen, etc. To accomplish what everyone seems to want [ instance success ] we'd need a new, big pockets, owner. Funny another article posted recently is exactly the type of owner the Twins really need: Donald Trump.
  11. Well, yeah. Part of there job is to prop up the Twins so they'll have listeners. I suppose they could say "Well folks, what do ya say? Let's just call it a year now. See you in Spring Training!" My favorite from Harry Carey: "Booze, broads, and bull****. If you got all that, what else do you need?"
  12. Beyond the Old Boys Club back then being what is was, I'm also reasonably sure Mr. Trump had a rep back then as a wheeler - dealer. And that would have been way too much for the old stogie suckers back then.
  13. I was 7. Already the old man
  14. Great perspective. My 1st exposure to the Twins, and really baseball: Sept. 1965 Twins vs. Dodgers. Honestly, didn't know anything about baseball and didn't really care. I was 7. Some guy with a weird name [Kaat] against another guy with a weird name [Koufax].
  15. Before your time? Ok, now I hate you
  16. http://www.quiltstudio.co.uk/acatalog/m7a.jpg Yeah, that didn't help....
