  1. hey, Mauer get's a hit for that, right? 2B didn't touch it
  2. Yeah, they would have swung and miss... ...
  3. Hey, looks like Dozier's rally speech to the team worked. He's leading off again!
  4. My comment was more towards the overall state of the outfield and " Spikecurveball, on 19 May 2016 - 10:59 AM, said: Who the hell is Robbie Grossman???? Why do we need to bring someone in from outside the organization? " So, we got Mastroianni replacing Buxton and Grossman replacing Rosario because 2 of this season's starting outfield have been demoted. I don't believe any other MiLB OF is ready for the MLB right now. That's just my opinion. According to Baseball Reference, over the past 28 days, Sano's OPS is .738, BA .225 and has struck out 36 times in 89 AB's. I'm not a follower of BABIP, but according to Fan Graphs at .306, he's somewhere around league average. I couldn't locate an actual scale. And I never compared Sano to Rosario.
  5. I'll speculate: Buxton continued to show he was a poor hitter at MLB level. Needs much more work. Rosario got sent down the day after Grossman was acquired, hitting being only part of the problem recently. That's 2 reasons right there. Mastroianni is already there and now Grossman makes 2. Also: Arcia and Sano are tanking. Arcia is returning to his old self. Sano may need a kick in the butt like Rosario. He has improved some lately. That could be 2 more reasons. Kepler was called up and got only 14 PA's, so I'll wave on that.
  6. I really don't believe it was just this one thing that caused Rosario's demotion. It's the accumulation of many things the entire year. A wake up call was needed. Rosario got what he deserved.
  7. I love being sort of right once in a while.
  8. On the flip side: what would you expect him to say? "OK everyone, we're sucking now and we're gonna suck the rest of the year. Everyone, exit the stadium and come back next year."
  9. Well, yeah. In the Strib articles, they delayed the biggest news of all: Rosario was YANKED OUT IN THE 7TH INNING! That should should have been the #1 item. It speaks volumes as to the status of this team. and I'm usually a pretty positive guy....
  10. You made my day. And I'm a day late!
  11. I posted my rant this morning at the end of yesterday's Game Day threat. I've posted before about the early season lack of hitting, defense and the spate of injuries and a correlation to Spring Training. I still feel the same way: none of these things should be an issue.
  12. rant on..... I got back late in the afternoon from a meeting and got the chance to see the Twins, with a lead, in the 7th inning. Then Hughes get's taken out, Dick and Bert babbling endlessly and no sign of Marni looking for an answer. Flicked it off when Tonkin blew the save, flicked it back on to watch Trevor May turn into May Day again. Turns out Hughes has shoulder weakness, this early in the season? It's the same thing over and over: what the Hell were they doing in Spring Training? All these injuries this early in the season. Several poor performances from "key" players? How can the Twins be this poorly prepared? Is this not what Spring Training for? ....rant off.
  13. Nunez finally getting a day off. Twins still determined to run DanSan into the ground.... And Juan "The Hammer" Centeno catching!
  14. .... or maybe someone is being promoted?
  15. I understand the argument. However, Berrios is getting the crap beaten out of him and his confidence is way down. Still, I probably would have given him and extra day, or 2, off and given him 1 more start.
  16. I'm not following the "1 bad game" commentary: http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/gamelog/_/id/32811/jose-berrios He needs some work on varying the speeds of his pitches. Last night, everything looked pretty much the same. Still, I probably would have given him another start.
  17. Umm, yeah. Pipe dream with plenty of ganja
  18. Well, looks like Reusse got his column inches worth of reads
  19. I don't know. I could say last years success was due to it being the 1st year in a LONG time without Ron Gardenhire leading the team. Or I could say Paul Molitor is more of a teacher than a leader. I could also say that the poor performances and spate injuries was due to a lack of preparation in Spring Training. I think all this is circumstantial evidence, at best.
  20. He actually is a very good pitcher. It's just that the stats don't show it very well
  21. Ooo... Arcia pinch hitting for Santana. Please, please, puhlezzz let him play center field
  22. Seriously anyone but that guy. shoulda been tossed!
  23. Hello Mr. Ryan. Nice to have you hanging out. Er, I didn't mean it that way....
