  1. I was just thinking the same thing as Bert!
  2. Buxton could use hitting lessons from Nunez. Wait, I said what ?
  3. Dean, like Berrios, Duffey and Meyer came up with a decent MiLB record and began to overthrow every pitch. Twins may need to look elsewhere for help.
  4. Oh, the usual I guess. Twins prospects continue to prove their MiLB creds ≠ instant MLB success Twins veterans continue to improve to their + / - MLB creds Twins fans continue to believe in last years faux success was actually success Twins management continues to try plugging roster whole with retreads, hoping for another Grossman And Danny Santana pinch hits for Byron Buxton in the 8th. Did I miss anything? Other than, I really wish this weren't true.
  5. thanks for that info. I'm still not up on all the advanced stats. Interesting stuff.
  6. If it's me and this is my team, I'm spending $$$ on a true ace. Will that be around in the next free agent season? Some. Would they sign with the Twins? Sure, large sums of cash will do it! 1st thing I do is buy a "Greg Maddox Starting Pitching for Idiots" book for Berrios and Duffey. The both seem to have read John Wettland's book "Throw Harder: The Brain-Dead Heavers Book to Success for Idiots" book. They both need to get away from how hard they can throw to mixing up pitches, moving the ball around. Generally speaking, getting a clue.
  7. The demise of Oswaldo Arcia could likely be the demise of Buxton, Kepler and several others: extraordinarily long swings. I don't know where this all started, but I'd have to question how this got through the entire MiLB system. I don't want to see a return to "The Twins Way", but reality should start setting in. Arcia almost didn't make it out of Spring Training. If I remember correctly, Darin Mastroianni, Carlos Quentin or Ryan Sweeney were the other options. That tells me a lot. His MLB .732 OPS [MLB average] is highly influenced by his occasional power. Per FanGraphs: "The problem with OPS is that one point of OBP and one point of SLG are not equal. OBP is about twice as valuable as SLG, meaning that OPS overrates power hitters and underrates high-OBP guys." My best hope for Arcia is that he ends up in Boston, somehow, and listens to David Ortiz. There's a lot of similarities, except for the swing. Ortiz has a short, quick swing [not choppy] that Arcia needs to be successful. Best wishes!
  8. Hanging in the weeds for that response, weren't ya Well played!
  9. I was going to post something similar, but different It's pretty well known that in the off-season, Perkins will work with his own choice of trainers. Pretty sure all pro athletes do the same. Question are: was there any labrum / overall shoulder exam during pre-post season workout planning? what were those workouts like? Did they cause further damage to his labrum? is there any coordination between Twins medical staff and the outside trainers? In this new Strib article, Twins management was hoping for the best and it just didn't work out that way. http://www.startribune.com/twins-closer-glen-perkins-to-miss-remainder-of-season/383299501/ I'm really not seeing issues on how Twins medical staff. Perkins went into Spring Training saying he was good to go and pitched well. Obviously, aggravated the now known issue. Edit: Very sad to hear this happen to Perkins. At 33, I hope he can still make a comeback.
  10. So, Lurch was playing with himself?
  11. Gut feeling: nobody in the MiLB will be ready for the competition, so a few 30+ guys will be signed short term. I'd audition as many of the prospects this year as I could. Trevor May: maybe there is a thing that throwing much harder as a reliever is causing him back problems. Starter. Why even take the risk? As has been said, Pressly and Tonkin are looking better. I don't know if Pressly's long delivery is conducive to closing. Tonkin still needs to be more aggressive, like at the end of Spring Training this year when his job was in jeopardy. Taylor Rogers didn't look all that good last night, but showing some talent. Last time I saw Chargois and Nick Burdi was in Spring Training. From that I would say: A little less emphasis on how hard they can through the ball and more on throwing strikes. I, too, would speculate the Abad will be traded to a contending team before the deadline. Moving Hughes or any other starter to the bullpen: No. With multi-years on the contracts, I don't think I'd be willing to delay the inevitable.
  12. Boy, last nights game day forum sure exited quickly
  13. Relocation?
  14. BYO relish...
  15. The only thing that would get accomplished is this guy would be GM:
  16. Do I think this opposite-field-hitting Dozier is the real Dozier? Noooooooooo. Is he still the same guy that dedicated spring training to hitting the opposite way, then goes back to 'clean and jerk' type swings in the regular season? YES
  17. Rosario, just like Buxton and Sano [to a somewhat lesser extent] have come to the MLB as undisciplined players. People can blame the coaches all they want, but in the end it's up to the players. Strike 1, strike 2 and low and away until they finally swing. Buxton looked great at the beginning of this last call up, but has fallen back into the pattern. There's no such thing as a prospect being "blocked". If they are truly that good, nothing should/would be in their way.
  18. Need a new Santana http://territorioinformativo.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Esmas_TerritorioInformativo.jpg
  19. Not me. But since you brought it up...
  20. Breaking ball very low, very outside. OK, Buxton still has some work to do...
  21. IDK, after D-Sans 5 IP 10 H and 5 R, I don't think there's much to complain about being down by only 1 run at this point. Then there's Jepsen. And the skunk...

  23. Damnit! Nice cool evening, got the windows open and a damn skunk just passed by!
