  1. And now: Back to Baseball!! Ok, Duffey. BREATH. In out, in out.....
  2. My mother's maiden name was Rassbach. The kids in town called her oldest brother 'Fritz'. He kept the name and beat up anyone who called him that.
  3. My dad was born in 1924, mom 1928. WWI babies.
  4. Same here, with my family. I think it had something to do with the end of a couple World Wars and LOT's of celebrating ;-)
  5. I worked my way through college. Mostly as a bartender at the campus bar. Bet you can't tell me what was the only thing that was served and what State. Ok, ok. It was beer and it was at UW-Platteville Fun fact: the first university/college in the State to serve alcohol on campus.
  6. Okay. What’s the worst part of owning a sports team? Very cool question!
  7. Seriously? He answered the question Oscar posed. Are you saying he was stupid to ask the question or are you upset that Oscar didn't do research on all things said by Jim Pohlad?
  8. Ok, he WAS wrong on the number of winning month. There were exactly 2: May 20-7 and Sept, 15-13. Aug was 14-14. The month of May DID carry the whole season. "The importance of winning is so highlighted in our market, it takes the fun out of the actual game." Next sentence: "I’m so worried the team is not going to win and people are going to hate the Twins and not come to the ballpark, that it takes the enjoyment out of watching the game, and it’s an enjoyable game. It takes that away." In other words, it takes the fun out of the actual game FOR HIM. 'One problem with the Twins: people don’t seem to leave. There isn’t a lot of turnover' The question was: What advice do you have for kids who want to work in sports? It was about the office people, not the team. 'One theory: the team isn’t as good as we thought it was. Maybe we’re doing something wrong in developing players. Maybe last year was just a fluke. Maybe they appeared to play better than they really did.' Why would a person single that out, when the first 2 sentences were: "We’re trying to figure that out. A lot of people have looked at it. It doesn’t appear to be just one thing." Pohlad's responses were legit. Oscar did a good job: good questions and I liked the flow.
  9. Did everyone read the same interview I did? Because I'm seeing a lot of people taking Pohlad's answers out of context.
  10. May, too. And Gibson activated. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/06/phil-hughes-trevor-may-dl-twins.html "While the 29-year-old Hughes will technically be placed on the DL due to the knee issue" ........... "Regression from May, too, has plagued the Twins.".........
  11. Best selling beer in Wisconsin is Bud Light. And it is in many states. So in other words, there aren't any real beer drinkers out there anymore...
  12. Never go wrong with a Wisconsin boy
  13. Not sure how relevant season to season stats are with Nunez. With a possible exception of 2011, this is his 1st season with regular AB's. Is his current .332 BA sustainable? Not sure, but why not? I'm looking at his splits and they're pretty consistent. He's also probably the only guy on the team that doesn't pout and actually rises to the occasion. This isn't a 'sell high' situation. This is a 'sell when the other guy is desperate' situation. I wouldn't consider anything until after the All Star break.
  14. Bruce Campbell: one of the greatest actors EVER
  15. "Mat Latos’ final act in White Sox uniform was an expletive-laced assessment of his pitching performance Tuesday night." If you gotta go, go in style. Ish.... Won his first 5 decisions with a sub 2 ERA that exploded to 4.62. Still, seems like a pretty quick hook by the White Sox.
  16. Sorry Bubba, Arcia is in tonight's lineup. Don't ask about the Bubba thing. I lived in a place where everyone got called Bubba.
  17. meh. It's Reusse and that's what he's supposed to do. He's up to 233 comments. I can't argue with anything he said, because I've already heard it before. I've personally questioned the conditioning of this team a long time ago and the lack of production and fundamentals coming out of Spring Training.
  18. I love the old "I got a source in the organization" and the “it’s highly inappropriate and reckless to discuss any specific trade talks about players with the media.” routine I have to agree with you on the talent and future available pitching resources. I'd likely take a chance, dip my toes into the pond kinda thing. Twins should be taking chances on guys like Venture and less so on the Hughes and Nolasco's of the baseball world
  19. No and no. Royals, by media accounts, are desperate to dump Ventura. Why would you propose more than 2 players for Ventura in a trade? Doesn't seem right to me, but I admit I'm not on the side of the "trade Plouffe for anything just to get rid of him" group. I'm also not sure of what Gonsalves future with the Twins is really like. Swapping Nunez for Plouffe in that trade? I think it indisputable that Nunez is our best player now. If trading Nunez is actually on the table, you'd wait until after the Allstar break and feed on the other team's desperation.
  20. Kintzler and Abad = Campbell and Burgmeier ?
  21. 3 - 8 in Twins lineup tonight with at least 2 hits.
