    I haven't lived in the Twin Cities since the early 80's so please forgive the ignorance. What does the "CHS" in the stadium name stand for?

    That is an argument that needs to be preceeded by "in my humble opinion" because there is absolutely no way to prove (or disprove) either premise.

    Years ago, while working in Washington, D.C., I was sent to a conference in Dallas. I was alone and wasn't familiar with Dallas, so I asked one of the locals what there was to do in Dallas. He actually said to me, "Y'all could go to the book suppository."

    I apologize for the poorly written post above but it frustrates me that front offices make decisions on roster makeup and not the manager.

    I guess I'm too old to understand the 21St century front office methods. I would have thought a front office would asemble the best players they could and let their manager do the best he can. But from what I read in TD articles and reader posts is that the front office dictates how many pitchers and how many hiters the team will carry. That makes no sense to me. Is there any purpose for having a manager? Let computers dictate all the moves.

    The Twins won, didn't they? Judging from many of the comments, it seems like they got their butts kicked again. I'll have to look at the box score again to confirm whether or not they are undefeated and in first place.

    "The next addition by subtraction will hopefully be Perkins and hopefully will happen sooner than later." The quote above was from Thrylos. Somehow I deleted his name. Oops..... I'm hoping that Perkins is healthy and pitches great, until he's traded to a contender for a couple prospects.

    I'm not sure I would want a pitcher warming up with a weighted ball. That might seriously impact the angle the ball come to the plate. Between games, I think it might be very beneficial for strengthening the arm, but not during a game. Hitting a ball and throwing a ball are two very different muscle memory functions.

    Geez, this time of year must be extremely difficult for sports writers if this is the best article you can come up with. How about "Which Twin matches up best with Trump's proposed Cabinet?" Mauer and Sessions? Both stay to the far right - Maurer on the field and Sessions in real life. Ben Carson and Paul Molitor? Both Ppear clueless most of the time.

    But as I said, that's the real world, not the world of professional sports team ownership. A championship, not money, drives these egos. If I have to overpay, tough noogies. I'm going to do it if I think I can win it all.

    There is quite a bit of referencing "supply and demand" in this thread. And that is a very strong argument - in the business world. But, in my humble opinion based on 100 years of business experience and following baseball (maybe a slight exaggeration), trading for a perceived asset (Dozier) that brings me a World Series title, has nothing to do with sound business practices. It is all about ego and bragging rights. The owners of sports teams are not in this business so much as to make profits as they are for the opportunity to rub elbows with athletes and (especially in L.A.) celebrities. So I would predict (again in my humble opinion) that if nothing happens now, if the Dodgers are not in first place in mid-May, their "demand" is going to be coming after our "supply" in full force and sound business practices will be thrown out the window.

    for accuracy: Minneapolis sits at 44°, 58° and Toronto sits at 43°, 39°. Minneapolis is north of Toronto. Surprisingly, Duluth is south of Seattle.

    Remember that this is the Rule 5 draft and not the amateur draft. The pickings aren't team altering talents. So if the Twins are lucky and end up with a back of the order pitcher, then I say good job. Also, the Twins have plenty of flame throwers on the horizon. It might be a nice change of pace, however, to see the someone that actually throws his fastball in the strike zone. And finally (before I take my mid-morning nap), remeber that Greg Maddox barely topped 90 MPH and he did alright for himself. (You younger guys may have to look up Maddox.)

    Now I just read in MLB rumors in Bleacher Report that Buster Olney says Castro excels at pitch framing. I think I'll just take a nap and wait for something to actually happen.
