Yankees (Gil) vs Twins (Bradley): 9/17/25, 6:40pm
karcherd replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Archived Game Threads
Bradley is another one of our front office's great finds. One good outing and everyone he should be set in stone in the rotation. Tampa couldn't fix him, what makes you think our staff is better will do the job. Develop your own players first before you try to fix everyone. -
This is the point, Clemens should not be among the top 13 players in any initial list. We know what he can do and at best he should be the 26th man on the bench. Everyone is excited because of one good month and overlooking the many times he has looked unplayable. If this is the production expected, bring up a youngster and see what they can do. It should not be a lock just because of who is on the roster, You need to find a way either to find someone better or someone younger with more potential upside. Get creative with trades to bring in better players but stop settling for players like Clemens this is what is so frustrating.
-
I want 13 position players that can contribute to a winning team. That is the bar to me you should be shooting for regardless of stats. Look at the 40 man roster and see who can contribute and move on from the others who can't or put in AAA for depth. And if the number needed to come from free agency is too high or too expensive than put in the kids and let them develop, at least there is a plan to get there. But stop signing the retreads because Rocco will continue to play them regardless of other options and they don't make us a better team. I want to get off this treadmill where we are just running in place, either take a step back or get the talent in here to move forward.
-
A good team will have a player that gets 19 dingers and also give consistent and competitive AB's and will play above average defense with the number of AB's given to Clemens. Clemens has basically had one good month and some good moments the other four months. This is why having him on the roster being used as a regular is a massive failure. Good teams raise the bar not lower it.
-
Wallner and/or Larnach are not moving to 1B, that would have been done by now if the geniuses in the front office thought it would work. I do not understand on every thread everybody keeps beating this drum. Clemens would be a good fit at the 26th man on the bench I would love to see us have higher expectations for the front office. We keep talking up these retreads who have a very low ceiling. Let's ask and expect for impact players that can contribute to a winning team. If they are not going to contend next year, play the kids and see if they can be difference makers. Guys like Clemens are not going to be difference makers. Honestly I would rather see Julien at 1B right now at least he has more history than Clemens of success. It appears the Twins do not believe in Julien, if this is then why he is on the roster. I can understand why people are skeptical of him, but if he is up here he should be playing over Clemens.
-
Sure enough, Clemens has a good game and everyone wants him in the lineup next year. He could be a good bench piece but he is not a starter on a winning team. He has had one really good game and a few good games, the perfect definition of a clutch bench piece. Like others have said, he is the type of player that Rocco will play no matter what. He is not a starter on a winning team. Let's try and raise the talent level not keep sinking to the depths of the floor.

I like this move but only if they are going to commit to Jenkins or Rodriquez and let them play every day even if they struggle. And no sitting against lefties. Outman is not an option, he shouldn't be on the roster next year. I don't understand how Roden is a CF, he played 11 games there in the minor leagues. And he didn't look that great in the outfield in a short sample size. Maybe he is a corner outfielder but I don't see him as a stopgap in CF.

I keep seeing posts that say Wallner or Larnach should move to 1B. I think it is fairly obvious the team doesn't agree with the position. They have moved players with no experience in the past, so they are not unwilling to put just anyone there. I think we need to accept Wallner and Larnach are going to be OF and DH if they are playing for the Twins. I think we can probably stop banging this drum because I doubt it will happen.

I will give you the answer, Gasper's bat will never be MLB ready. He will be 30 at the end of the season, he is what he is. Get Cardenas up here and see if he can be a part of the team in 26. If Gasper is here next season that could be the straw that breaks the camel's back for me.

In my opinion if any of the acquisitions would have given a better first impression, it gives some hope for the future that maybe these trades would provide future value. I am talking not just about everyone on this board but the casual fan, they see new players coming in who aren't improving the team in any way. They ask why make these trades especially Outman and Roden, they just look like clones of players we already have and had the same impact as players on the roster.

Yes Outman had a good game at the plate, he will have a good day. But can he have enough to be put on a major league roster, based on his history it doesn't seem like it. And his defense has not looked especially in CF. You can look at defensive stats all you want, but I will trust my eyes and he has not looked comfortable in the outfield especially CF. But unfortunately Falvey will want Rocco to keep playing him so that the trade will look like it worked, just like many others before him.

Twins (Bradley) vs Angels (Soriano): 9/10/25, 3:07pm

Missed that one, thank you. Be nice for him to get a start or else bring up Sabato, it makes more sense from positional needs. -

Buck could move to the outfield it would mean losing the DH. Outman's defense is overrated, I don't think he is a has to be out there late innings type. -

I get that but Outman is hitting .157, what has he done to earn the confidence from the manager to hit in that situation other than that Falvey traded for him. How many times over the last couple of years were Wallner and Larnach yanked in the exact same situation. Is McCusker even going to see the field, why bring him up. -

Why is McCusker even on the roster even if you aren't going to play him. Perfect opportunity to pinch hit for Outman and he sits. And no I am not worried about the defensive alignment. And as I write this, Outman gets a double but I still stand by my take. -
Outman will be 29 next year, other than a good rookie year what makes anyone think he will be close to a major leaguer and his defense has not been as strong as advertised. We didn't give up much, but we need some quality in the bullpen and Stewart is better than most of the arms run out there. If TB couldn't see the need or have the ability to get Bradley to change his pitch mix how do you expect the Twins to do better than an organization that has proven to be better at developing pitching. So we traded for a Larnach replacement when he is only a seat warmer for a younger player. Why give up an asset we have 5 years of control for a replacement for a known commodity we still have control for another year. And no we will not get a major league ready player for Larnach unless he is packaged with others. We blew up a bullpen for change sake and it has not or will make the team better in the near future. The returns for these trades needed to make a better first impression and they haven't and they are not inspiring much confidence that they will be productive members of a winning team.

The front office is saying a lot right now and they will need to prove with their transactions that they are going to change course. This front office believes they have an elite development process and can fix all wayward misfits. They have filled the bullpen with a bunch of stopgap veterans that have no chance of pitching for a winning team. They are not being aggressive in calling up any prospects to see what they may have either on the position side or pitching. Instead they continue to roll out Clemens, Outman and Gasper and a bunch of stiff pitchers on a regular basis. These guys may be liked in the locker room but the players know who will help them win and these guys won't.

I think Chris Gimenez did it in 2018. I was hoping Big Sexy would hit one when he pitched for us.- 44 replies

Angels 12, Twins 2: Oy vey...
karcherd replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
They have maybe two major league pitchers two but both should be 5th or 6th inning guys in Topa and Sands. So how are they going to rebuild the bullpen if those two are the building blocks. Do we really expect Falvey to pay for any free agents even ones on a bounce back type contract. He will sign projects that he thinks can be fixed like a Pagan or injury prone pitchers that will give a couple of months, get hurt and throw the bullpen into disarray. Give the kids a trial for the last weeks of the season. I would rather see Raya get blown up then Hatch, maybe he will learn what he needs to work on at the very least.- 44 replies

Week in Review: Avert Your Eyes
karcherd replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
They have six starters on the roster, it should have been very easy to slot someone in to start like most competent organizations would do. -
Twins (Ober) vs Royals (Lorenzen): 9/7/25, 1:10pm

And yet he has only given up 1 run in 5 plus innings, that seems to be the most important stat. -
Twins (Ryan) vs Royals (Kolek): 9/6/25, 6:15pm
karcherd replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Archived Game Threads
For everyone has posted that Hatch should be on the roster next year please raise your hand. We get excited when of the signed castoffs has a good outing or two and we are ready to enshrine them in the Twins HOF. There is a reason these guys keep signing with multiple teams, they are not any good. I can understand one or two especially if there are injuries. But this organization seems more focused on fixing all the inhabitants of Misfit Island rather than work on developing their own talent. This is the biggest it is hard for me to maintain any shred of hope. How many castoffs both pitching and position players are they going to bring to spring training. -
A lot of comments saying we will see the kids. But this front office does not give priority to their own players. We have seen the likes of Gallo, Margot, Santana, France and bullpen washouts before we ever see the kids. This front office will try to sign cheap free agents and say hey we are trying to win. They will proclaim Clemens as the starter at 1B just like they are now. They have the opportunity now to give some kids a chance instead you have a bullpen that up until yesterday had Noah Davis in it, not to mention a bunch of other 30 plus stopgap veterans who no one wants. You have Gasper pinch hitting in the top of the 9th. No I don't think the kids will get a chance, it will be more of the same and maybe we can threaten the loss record that the Rockies will set this year.

Twins (López) vs Royals (Wacha): 9/5/25, 6:40pm
karcherd replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Archived Game Threads
Another sign this team has no plan. Why not call up Cardenas, see if he can be your back up next year. Why keep settling for these stopgaps. Gasper should not be anywhere near this team and Pereda is just another journeyman. I have no idea if Cardenas can do anything up here, but now is the time to find out. And why is Clemens batting clean up, can we try and at least pretend we want to be a serious organization. -
White Sox (Ellard) vs Twins (Bradley): 9/4/25, 6:40pm
karcherd replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Archived Game Threads
Because he shouldn't even be on the roster, much less catching. But hey Falvey is the smartest man in baseball.
