  1. They need to develop a plan with Lewis, they can't let it drag out. Either play him here or in St. Paul or if he is hurt put him on the IL. Regardless of his performance since the last half of the year, he is a player they should be able to count on and need to get him right. Bouncing him in and out of the lineup is not going to solve this problem. If he flames out this is a huge black eye on this organization to not develop him.
  2. He has given up 14 earned runs and 7 were in two games in April. In May he pitched in 14 games and in two of them he gave up a run in two of the games. Yesterday he was hurt by Jeffers error. I am not sure of your definition of struggling.
  3. Giving him a reset probably needs to be done at this point. If you are pinch hitting for him then he needs to go either on the IL or to the minors. The problem is there are no real options to call up from St. Paul. Gasper should be a break glass in case of emergency like after about 5 injuries before he is back up here. He is not a major league player and he showed that when he was up here. There is a reason he is 29 and not getting a shot in the majors even with good numbers in AAA.
  4. Jax after a couple of rough outings to start has been his usual effective self. He only gave up two runs in 14 appearances in May, I am not sure I would call that struggling.
  5. I don't disagree, but read my post, is the team telling him to play conservatively, that is what no one knows. Everyone is blaming Lewis and there are many reasons to do that, but we don't know what is going behind the scenes. This team is very conservative in treating injuries and I wonder what they are telling Lewis.
  6. While I am not a fan of Kiersey for regular playing time but what is Bride doing on the bench. There is no pathway for him to play even against LH pitching. He has no speed, limited power and his defense is average. So if the choice is Kiersey or Bride at least Kiersey has some utilization even if it is minimal that Bride doesn't.
  7. I understand, but did he slow down because he heard Jeffers call for it. That for me is the hard point is he wasn't in the screen the whole time so I am not sure if we really know what happened. Right now it is easy to pile on Royce and a lot of it is justified but I am not sure if in this instance it is.
  8. Wasn't he positioned more where the shortstop normally would be. It was a left handed hitter up and Correa was playing up the middle. Foul popups are tough to get to when you play the modified shift. I am not trying to defend Lewis but I am not sure this is an instance where he was given the best chance to succeed. It is interesting he looked like he was moving better and was coming around on the last road trip but then on the homestand he started looking lost again. I still wonder if the team is telling him not to go all out or is it him. Remember last year in his first rehab game, he stole second and the team was not happy about it. It does not feel like it is in his nature to not go all out. So either let him play or put him back on the IL if he is not healthy.
  9. It is now being reported Wallner is playing tomorrow in Omaha. What does he need to do to show he needs to be up here.
  10. Starters are allowed to pitch into the 7th inning, maybe somebody can inform Rocco of this fact.
  11. And the same thing was said last year when Wallner was kept in AAA for an extra month. If he's healthy, play him up here.
  12. Up by 2 runs in the 4th inning and you play the infield in. Who says Rocco doesn't manage with his spreadsheet.
  13. If he can play, he should be up here with the Twins. He has 3 HR's in 13 AB's. You are just wasting him in St. Paul
  14. Wallner just hit another HR, get him to Tampa and in our lineup. Quit wasting his AB's in St. Paul.
  15. There is no way to predict when Buxton will be activated. It is all up to the protocols. They don't seem to be in any hurry to get Wallner back so I hope he is back for Seattle but wouldn't surprised if he isn't.
  16. The pitch to Garcia was at the bottom of the zone and he was out in front of it, but was able to stay back just long enough to get his bat on it. Sometimes you have to tip your hat to the hitter. Ober executed his pitch, but the hitter beat him this time.
  17. On the usage of Stewart, I know his history but if you are not going to send him out another inning then that is a failure on the front office to not have a better option. This is the kind of move that worked in the moment and it may work in the future. But there will be times during the season that using that extra reliever will cost you in the next couple of games because someone won't be available when needed. This is where average innings isn't the factor to look at, it's the impact on the current game and series. This happened last year and I will guess moves like this will cost at least 2 to 5 games this year. I thought every game counted. My question is Lewis not running because he is hurt or is the team telling him not to open it up. Remember last year when he went on a rehab, he stole second in his first game and Rocco almost had a stroke when he found out. The Twins are very conservative with injuries which they can be, but it makes hard to know when a player is injured or being managed to avoid future injury.
  18. I doubt they would make two moves to the 40 man. My feeling is Gasper is the next man called up if someone is needed and he does not belong in the major leagues.
  19. They have two players who can handle SS in Lee and Castro and Lewis could slide there if Rocco decides to play his Jenga games as well. We could use a bat, if you are going to make a 40 man move on an unproven player bring up McCusker who would fill a potential need. We don't need a team of 10 players that can play all positions. This isn't about McCusker, this is about what the needs are with the injuries and that is a bat not another utility player.
  20. Gasper is 29 years old, there is a reason he hasn't had a shot in the majors up to this point. He is a catcher without a position defensively. He was a butcher at 2B, he made Julien look like a Gold Glover over there. I am not saying McCusker would be our savior but give him a chance, Maybe he could give us a jolt for a couple of weeks, my expectations wouldn't longer than that best case scenario. But Gasper just doesn't belong up here.
  21. They played Gasper in the OF yesterday, I think they are preparing to call him up if Bader goes on the IL. He is a not a major league player, he can hit AAA pitching and that is it. Call up McCusker and see if he can give a jolt to the lineup.
  22. Either move Sim to the bullpen or AAA, Festa or Matthews need to be in the rotation next time thru.
  23. And he hadn't played since Saturday before that. Why isn't he going in the lineup for game 2.
