  1. Tonight was not on him, that ball was over the fence. At least his bat compensates for some of the defensive flaws.
  2. He's pressing to make something happen, just needs to settle down.
  3. By that metric, Koskie would have never played a second season with the Twins. Sometimes players do need some time, and he has played 125 games there, seems like a short leash.
  4. Maybe give him more 125 games at one position or more than 40 at another to see if he can improve.
  5. Versus Bell looking silly on almost every swing he has had tonight.
  6. And his last outing he gave up 4 runs in 1 inning on 2 home runs, so which is he. Like the article said San Diego moved on for a reason. This is a good break glass in case of emergency move, hopefully they don't force him on the roster when his opt out comes up on 8/25 unless he earns it or there is an injury.
  7. This game is on Taj, yes defense hasn't helped. But he can't throw strikes and when he does he is grooving it right in there. Basically a 50/50 ratio of balls and strikes is not going to get it done
  8. Jenkins led off the Saints game with a HR, can we stop in Des Moines and pick him up to bring him to Minnesota for Saturday's game.
  9. I thought it was a different stadium they were playing in, but do they use ABS technology, haven't been to a game in a couple of years.
  10. And this is a stadium used once or twice a year.
  11. Veterans can choose not to go on a rehab, Kepler was the same way.
  12. He still has to lock in and figure out what works in his first inning of work, whether it is the first or second inning.
  13. At this point in the season, patience has to be at a minimum for a contending team. And Roden has done nothing to warrant them having patience with him. Again why are we so focused on this year's numbers, he has 200 AB's and has yet to grab hold of an opportunity and say give me more playing time. He has not had aggressive swings at the plate before yesterday and he looks tentative on defense. Not saying we get rid of him but he needs to come to spring training and earn a spot on the 26 man roster, his time is running out with all the younger outfielders coming up behind. As for stats, you have history and Gray's said that was not sustainable and it showed to be true. I want players in the lineup that will make at least a small contribution to a win, not someone who won't kill us. That is what gets you a sub .500 record.
  14. A good break glass in case of emergency signing. It will be interesting to see if he has anything left in the tank, but veteran experience could be needed if we have any more injuries to a starter.
  15. Weather will be fine tonight, the storms are well south of the field.
  16. Falvey was given a budget and he signed the players within that budget, that he didn't identify the correct ones is on him and his staff, not ownership. I realize there are going to be misses, but I think there more misses than real impact signing.
  17. I agree with this article 100%, don't just spend money for the sake of it. You have to work with the resources given. It felt like Falvey wanted to act like a larger market team when the resources weren't in line with that premise, he never fully adapted to the reality in front of him. The signing of Bell this offseason was a great example of spending money to spend money. That money could have been used for a weakness on the roster at the time, the bullpen. Instead it went to Bell to play 1B, when he is no longer playable at 1B, so it should have been obvious at that time that he was going to be the DH There was a lost opportunity cost with this of not giving Rodriquez or even at the time Roden an opportunity. Coming out of spring training if Bell is not on the roster, Rodriquez probably opens as the starting LF giving coverage for Buck in CF and Larnach would have been the DH still able to play the field more often than Bell. Bell has given some decent production, but he is at a replacement level, for that we gave up the opportunity cost to find out what some younger players can do and production wouldn't have been a huge dropoff from what Bell has provided IMO. This is why I hope Tom P. will hire an experienced baseball executive to lead the baseball operations, Zoll is not up to the task.
  18. Yes Roden had a good game yesterday, so do many AAAA types which he is close to becoming. He has a good eye, but his swings have not been good at the plate and he has looked tentative in the field. Nothing says he should get a shot over Jenkins or Keaschall for more playing time.
  19. If we were putting best possible roster together it would be Buxton and Jenkins for Jackson and Roden. That would give us the best 13 position players on the roster.
  20. Roden has had 200 AB's in the major leagues. If you don't think that's enough to judge him, that's fair. But everyone keeps acting like this is his first time up here and it's not. Which in some ways makes his lack of production more concerning as he doesn't seem to be building off his prior stints.
  21. The weather guy I follow says the storm should stay well south, just a few sprinkles at most. Play ball!
  22. Looks like Jackson gets a reprieve for one more day
  23. You seem to have a certain number in mind that is different than trying to minimize the number of innings by 10 or so for the year.
  24. Is today the day Buxton comes back and Jackson removed from the roster. Perfect setting for it, the Field of Dreams game.
