  1. duffey seems to have shrugged off that toronto start as if they were a bat with a weighted donut. take off the donut and the game is a lot more manageable.
  2. three quick outs and a hurricane?
  3. well, that link might really exist somewhere, but mine is a hypothetical. substitute kepler or walker or even sano. yes, the bullpen needed fixing beyond jepsen. and the twins are weak at ss and c. but fixes can backfire -- just look at oakland at last year's deadline. billy beane was brilliant until he wasn't. fantasy-league trades are easy to make and i guess that's part of the fun. but nobody -- not terry ryan, not you and not me -- knows what will happen once the trigger is pulled. and maybe the trade NOT made will lead to the promised land in 2016 or 2017 or 2018. or never. and that's part of the fun, too.
  4. what if terry ryan had made the big deadline trade: berrios and buxton for tulo and latroy. and what if tulo had his same results: 6-for-15 with 3 xbh in three games (hr and 2 doubles in game one), 9-for-50 with 3 xbh ever since. for the first week ryan coulda run for mayor but by now he'd be run outa town -- especially if either ex-twin was doing well. so maybe tulo ends up the 2015 world series mvp or maybe he'll never be great again. should the twins have made the trade? does anybody REALLY know?
  5. can everyday eddie still get the ball to the plate?
  6. looks to me like the twins have three hits in the last 14 innings -- all by joe mauer.
  7. true story: back in junior high, a kid moved into town who quarterbacked righty and pitched lefty. was actually pretty good at both (but he tore up his knee in the ancient days before miracle surgery and never played in high school).
  8. only if he signs on as full-time clubhouse dj (and far away from the 40-man roster).
  9. actually, trout was the 25th pick of the 2009 draft -- not what most would consider "near the top." in other words, he was there for the taking by the twins and almost all the other clubs ...
  10. ok, um, so i've got another question: after yesterday's 0-for-5 with three strikeouts, oswaldo arcia is 3-for-36 (.083) over his last 10 games at rochester. here's my question: doesn't that make him the perfect candidate to blend right in with the big-league club?
  11. wasn't nick punto always considered the emergency catcher?. nice arm, good bunter. world series experience. mid-30s, affordable and could probably join the team tomorrow.
  12. hey vanimal -- nick punto had 45 sac bunts in seven years with the twins and he's probably sitting by the phone. any chance he'll be back?
  13. any chance o'rourke can pitch all the innings?
  14. interesting take. your delmon young assessment reminds me of back when david west was the supposed prize of the viola-to-the-mets trade. after twins management saw him up close the consensus was "THIS is david west?!?!"
  15. ... says the guy who wants hunter's pinch hit to win the game a few days after saying "hunter is worthless, time to put his old ass on waivers ..."‏
  16. he's also two for his last 27 in double a.
  17. well, they gave it the good-ole college try ...
  18. well, the kid took a lead into his second major-league inning. so there's that ...
  19. oy. from zero to infinity in an instant ...
