  1. Oh... With a headline like way too early projection, i was hoping for something like realignment in 2050 following homoginization of rules where the Central loses Detroit and Cleveland, but gains St. Loius and Denver, and becomes the plains division, making our division great again. But i got no problem enthusiastically looking forward to next season. Am glad to keep the target on our backs as well as our field.
  2. Don't you have to like, ford a river?
  3. US 52 goes to Rochester, not I 35... And yeah, i am envious of modern times for being able to google things. Hearing a prospect was playing in Rochester when i was growing up there left me confused as to why i couldn't go to a game and watch them. Google woulda straightened me out right quick.
  4. To my knowledge, no extra runs are given for an extra long homerun. But it is easier to hit a routine fly ball than a homerun, and with increased exit velocity, more of those cans of corn will clear the fence. Also liners and grounders are more likely to find a hole if they get there faster. So he may still benefit from more refinement, but hitting the ball harder does tend to lead to better results and more runs given a similar contact profile. As to the over all question, the other core Twins would also get tendered or not based on the talent behond them. They still could get traded, but with their contracts, it would need to be a really good return.
  5. Science may discover the underlying principles, but how do we apply them to achieve results. This sounds like a job for... Engineering. So... If we cook our turkey over a dumpster fire, we will win in the playoffs?
  6. Ah, i found where to ask after the little brown jug. Do we got a chance? Are we really ranked? I shoulda paid more attention.
  7. Not enough analysis in this article for me to take it seriously. 100,000 debates? What was the distrubution of results? If simple numberical manipulations reveal interesting results in even 30% of the debates, it is a useful tool. If it carries the debate in more than 70%, that's it, I'll find something better to think about.
  8. At least we aren't over reacting to over reactions...
  9. And if it hasn't been pointed out yet, Buxton's batting second in today's line up. He must have had a speedier recovery than Donaldson...
  10. I like to think that means their speed of recovery is relativistic. Look for them to be slightly younger than they would have been if they had recovered at a normal pace. (and just to head off the question, no, it has no observable effects on Buxton's service time)
  11. You, sir, have a truely devious mind. I could not possibly conceive of such a cunning and absolute vengence upon a vaunted enemy. And yet so perfectly innocent and reasonable. I approve!
  12. "His first no-hitter?" I hope we don't give that distinction significance anytime soon. Go Twins!
  13. The Rhine inclines mein stein to down fine wine? I guess i'm not cut out for broadcasting... Now tell me about these "pranks" he talks about?
  14. I feel for the plight of the bullets as well. From the factory to the chamber, then one brief agonizing flight.
  15. No i didn't. One moment... I'll track that thread down.
  16. My impression is the game is just rescheduled, not cancelled.
  17. Indeed it is. Delayed for some 17ish hours, i think?
  18. I would actually be in favor of a ballpark with no outfield walls. Having played softball on intramural leagues using the corner of soccer fields, there something kind of appealing in the context of "if the ball gets by you, you have to run it down" and Buxton's virtuosity as a fielder would play well there.
  19. Do i get to refer folk here to the gamethread? Or will someone else do that as it gets pinned? This seems like pretty good discussion as is... I like openers. But there is something to be said for simplicity and i'm just as happy having only one pitcher pitch.
  20. I so rarely get to quote Brick Top (from Snatch): "Do you know what `nemesis' means? A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent." I hope we give them plenty to um... righteously retribute. That said, good to hear how good Luis Robert is. Winning wouldn't mean very much if we only played bad players...
  21. This is correct, unless the pitcher reads this post on TD and walks Kepler just to spite us.
