    Interested in the big drop for Ober. Is it age to league related? He's been owning it in CR for several starts now. With the 2.74 xFIP, it seems his early season struggles were fairly BABIP related.

    If the catcher position wasn't such a drag to the current lineup, I doubt it would come up as much. A quick glance at Astudillo's AAA offensive output and the "C" next to his name in the position column are enough to make someone hope he can be the answer. If someone does their homework like yourself, they would realize the folly of placing Astudillo behind the plate at this level. At least the one who makes the decisions does know. That was quite obvious when the Twins gave up the DH the other day to let Garver move to catcher after they ran for Wilson. Love to root for him though, and my neighbor nicknamed him "Build-A-Bear".

    Miranda sure answered the call in the 3-hole after the Lewis promotion. Is Michael Davis the first draft pick to graduate past rookie ball? That's some early success for a 24th round pick, and he had the big shoes of Lewis to fill at SS.

    I was at the Kernels game, and the Fort Wayne Tin Caps played one of the worst fundamentally sound games I have ever seen in pro ball. It makes me appreciate what we see every day in the big leagues. It would also make my grandfather and great-uncle (who pitched in the 1950 series) turn in their graves.

    Yeah, the BABIP on him was quite high for awhile. xFIP of 2.76, so what you're seeing about his overall stats is correct. These last couple of starts are helping to normalize the overal stats closer to the way that he's been pitching. He'll need to be challenged soon.

    That was brought up during the game thread (while we waited through the rain) ... I'm not going to call Gameday the all-telling application, but it did list the situation as an "Injury Timeout" when Thorpe was pulled. I'm hopeful that he had a 20 pitch limit going into the futures game too.

    They probably shouldn't go as far as buying, but selling should be done as close to the deadline as possible. At least let the rest of July play out and then see what the standings look like.

    Bailey Ober has been quite dominant, especially of late. 22/1 K/BB his last two games and 74/8 on the season! The TD prospect book mentioned hope that he could back to pre-TJ form. It looks like he's doing just that. Also, any word on the Thorpe injury/exit?

    Gibson has been a rock, and it's fun to watch him pitch. The Twins have a nice duo at the top of the rotation right now. As I look through the top prospects, I see most of them are either controlled by non-contenders, or they are injured or already up. It would require a system depleting offer for any of the top teams to pry Gibson away at this point.

    Rochester @ Scranton Wilkes-Barre (6:05PM CST) – LHP Adalberto Mejia (4-2, 2.68 ERA) Slegers may get that extra look after all on Sunday. Maybe Wilson should catch that one.

    I was thinking that knee was still not all the way back, but he's started 8 of the last 10 at SS. He DH'd one, and he came in and PH'd the other. He hasn't been unavailable, so I would think that rules out the knee. He's been really raking since the AS break, so I would expect that promotion. I do hope they wait until at least Sunday, so I can watch him this weekend . I'll already miss Moran (if he was called), but I'm happy he was promoted.

    Lynn's style and command always make him look 10 times worse many of his given outings. I agree with those who saw this as him righting the ship after the first inning to a degree, but it still was no fun to watch. It seems he goes 3-2 on every hitter, and he's always laboring. It's like any Pelfrey outing or bad Contreras outings. I'm sure he did his whole "stare into the soul" thing with Molitor after the 5th inning, got the go ahead and then gave Pressly a s$%$-sandwich (Pressly somehow thought the sandwich needed an extra turd, but that's beside the point). I definitely agree with you about Lynn getting away with it. Pressly got it done. I would say with the help of the umpire, but it was Drew "I'm likely to get out anyway" Butera. It was priceless seeing Pressly's smirk when he tried to throw the same pitch to Merrifield with two strikes and didn't get the call. Lynn had a 36 game score, so the numbers don't lie. He battled, but it wasn't a good outing by any means.

    FS1 only gets one more game this season on August 15. This past game is a reminder to schedule something else that day and just listen to it on the radio.

    Definitely agree with this. The Twins did draft Jeffers, who is actually older than Rortvedt, but I think most would agree it was for his bat. Maybe the Twins know something and Jeffers can stick at catcher, but Rortvedt seems it for now. Articles on trading for Realmuto being written should back this opinion as well.

    Jeffers probably just needs another series or so at E-Town. The Kernels actually need some more depth at catcher with Molina banged up, and Jeffers seems ready for the challenge with the bat. I guess he does only have 51 innings behind the plate so far, so it isn't apples-to-apples as far as the 99 PA and done with E-Town like Rooker.
