  1. These things are not mutually exclusive. Especially in Santana's case.
  2. Let us not forget that Danny Santana had CF time a few years ago.
  3. There are three easy, without any trepidation moves off the 40-man. Raley, Fryer, and Wilson are not destined for anything.
  4. At least he was good in 2008 and 2010. Getting excited about some handful of starts last season when looking at the career "sample size" indicating a below-average pitcher is an interesting view.
  5. Yeah there is no way I would move Dozier now.
  6. I would sign Drew (spending money, I know) and look to trade if he does well and the Twins aren't. That would help mitigate the loss of the pick. I believe that I am in favor of another SS tryout for Dozier, given Rosario, Polanco, and Santana being able o play 2B. If it doesn't work, OK. Plan B. Or C, I guess. I am not convinced that Goodrum is done at SS though.
  7. I didn't realize that 2013 and most of his career constitutes a small sample.
  8. Just commenting on this last page of comments. There is no evidence so far that Stuart Turner is going to be good. There is evidence for Garver, but it is at A ball. I am on the record for being disappointed with the Twins catcher draft selections last year. I really think they amount to little. Anyway, Beresford should absolutely be in consideration for promotion soon. Let Escobar take it for now.
  9. I am EXTREMELY glad that this is his "problem." He will be looking fine in LF with Buxton in CF and Hicks in RF at the start of 2015.
  10. It will be slightly under. They can right this ship though, for June.
  11. My great dislike for keeping Pelfrey around seems to have been "rewarded" with this terrible performance. The problem is that they kept him for two years!
  12. Ortiz's OPS has fallen to .556. I wouldn't be too worried about this at the moment. He should come around and make up for this unusual slow start to the season.
  13. After posting a .645 OPS in New Britain, the Twins sent Mejia back down to Fort Myers. He has played just one game there, collecting a couple hits. It will be important for him to improve upon his A+ ball numbers from last year to force a return to AA eventually this season.
  14. I definitely would give Arcia a small stretch more in AAA and then promote him while demoting Herrmann. This is dangerous because Gardenhire gets weird about playing two catchers. Suzuku is still hitting and Pinto looks like he will be a good overall hitter for the future. Perhaps and ideal situation, offensively: Dozier 2B Mauer 1B Plouffe 3B Colabello DH Kubel LF Pinto C Arcia RF Hicks CF Escobar SS I guess they can't sub in both Florimon and Suzuki in case the odd thing happens and Suzuki gets injured late in the game and Escobar is already out. Jeez, the Twins do really need to build their roster around that bizarre possibility. Or not.
  15. They are in an obviously foreseeable mess with Correia and Pelfrey. Trades and signings are not going to happen right now. Anyway, Jorge Polanco and Levi Michael need to be in New Britain.
  16. Can anyone dig up more info on Bruno's potential work done with Dozier, Plouffe, and Colabello? Is there something there, or is it more a matter of individual player adapting on their own? Imagine the possibilities for Hicks and Arcia.
  17. Hicks has always been slow to adapt. He was in way over his head last year. Looking at his development pattern, split time between AA and AAA last year would have been best. Now he is like a AAA player breaking in. Stay calm! The guy is getting back to his ways of having good plate discipline. Now he finally hit a bomb. It's going to take a bit, but by June he will be in stride. And I still wish Willingham would have been traded at some point last year, even for a Miguel Sulbaran type (or two). Herrmann is likely the odd man out, but the versatility (and it's C versatility, which is important) is valuable and he will start hitting.
  18. Sam Fuld is not a good offensive player. In no way, shape, or form should any young talented player be threatened by him. It will be nice to have a late-game OF of Fuld-Hicks-Herrmann at times though.
  19. Actually, ok, I like this idea. Burton, Correia, and Pelfrey are three guys to be replaced at some point this year with Deduno, Meyer, and May.
  20. The Twins made a mistake with Gibson last year and are headed down the same road this year with Meyer. It would be very nice to limit him to X number of pitches per start in AAA and give him a few more so that he can pitch 60+ for the Twins and still hit his limit (130 or 140).
  21. Nice job finding that. Inquiring minds would like to know, Will. Indeed.
  22. Absolutely. Calling Parker . . . Hicks, even with all his struggles last year, still generated some power. This is completely absent this year (same with Florimon, and it is the same problem).
