  1. Ok. In the line score (say if he homers) it says "Trinidad." The box score, however, is always correct.
  2. Yikes, wish I didn't get to this discussion until only now. Lots of good stuff.
  3. A Joe Mauer hitter without the killing of his legs . . . That would be a HIGH ceiling for Kepler. A future of Kepler, Buxton, and Hicks/Benson??
  4. The stress of reading about trade speculation here is enough to make me crazy.
  5. Still $17 million left on that contract and it's for 2+ years. That slows this down a bit. And the Twins should probably hold on to him so they don't revert to a 63-win team in 2013 and REALLY drive away fans from the park.
  6. Victorino to the Yankees is what I would predict, there.
  7. Very good job. Adding age, current team, and what pick (or round) would be even better.
  8. Liriano is the only one currently on the 25-man roster who will be traded by the deadline. You heard it here first!
  9. Might as well ask it here. Seth, any chance that Adonis Pacheco joins the GCL club this year?
  10. Did Jimenez used to be "Trinidad"? I see a discrepancy between the line score and box score all the time on the milb scoreboard.
  11. They probably should have said "dehydration" instead then. Bringing attention to the potential of a concussion-related issue tells me that he is not going to be traded.
  12. While I would love to see Hicks, Herrmann, and Arcia this year, I would rather they were promoted to Rochester within 10 days or so and then all head (or head back to) the AFL. Nishioka, Tosoni, Benson, and MAYBE Florimon Guerra (if healthy), Oliveros, Slama (if healthy), and Waldrop
  13. I would hope a trade involves some kind of possibly MLB ready capable starting pitcher and two lower-level prospects. I don't know if they can hold out for the more ideal AA or AAA top prospects.
  14. I don't see much changing. A lot of hopes out there would really require some league re-alignment and geographic shifts (an Appalachian league . . . really?) of those leagues. An upper midwest league would be nice . . .
  15. It would be nice if the Twins could convince the Pirates to swap AAA affiliates (Rochester for Indianapolis). It's a 100 miles or so closer to Rochester for them. And Indy is what, 700 miles closer for the Twins? At least it makes for an interesting road trip next summer if A- is still in Beloit. Beloit for the snappers, Chicago for Twins vs. Sux and Indianapolis for (a team not likely to be called "Indians" anymore if the Twins got the team, for two very different reasons). And back.
  16. I just want to be clear. You think that Billy Bullock had/has more value than Danny Valencia and Lester Oliveros? You actually believe that? Two guys who have actually played in MLB?
  17. You claim to disagree but then make my point. You mention Parmelee and Revere. Revere went back to AAA in 2012 and is remarkably different now. Parmelee was wasted in MLB before being in his rightful spot right now. The "staging" level seems pretty damn important!
  18. Wait, the quote? That's Rousseau.
  19. Good job with this! E-Town continues to impress.
  20. I agree with the idea, but it just hasn't worked so far (of late). Parmelee's 2012 season is a damn disaster. What a waste. Same with Tosoni and even Revere last year. I am flabbergasted by the notion that Dozier, Parmelee, Solarte, Benson, and Herrmann were better off in 2011 not getting promoted to AAA at the beginning of August so they could see the next level of pitching and build towards facing MLB pitching this year. Christ, Solarte was lost either because of the Twins being stupid or his awareness that the Twins promote so damn slowly and inappropriately at times. Would anyone seriously look at this organization and say that Dozier, Parmelee, and Benson wouldn't have benefitted from 100 PAs at AAA last year?
  21. So Ben Revere 2011 and Chris Parmelee 2012 were just fine with the AA-to-MLB jump, right? The question still stands: outside of Mauer, name a AA-to-MLB jump that has worked out well for the Twins? Going back to the 80s?. Hicks is having a very good year and Herrmann is the one catching prospect above low-A that is achieving at all. Clete Thomas and Rene Rivera matter more at AAA than Hicks and Herrmann? please.
  22. A: he is 35 and still very good. B: he chose to stay with the horrible Cubs this year. C: the Twins are not as terrible as you seem to wish them to be (now or in 2013, 2014, and 2015). D: I wouldn't count on getting both, no. But trying to actually improve the team without trading away offense (and ending up even in the W-L column between 2012 and 2013) seems worth a try. The trade-Span crowd underestimates what he actually does for the Twins.
  23. Are you denying that a Danny Valencia and Lester Oliveros could be traded for a decent starting pitching prospect? Do you deny that Scott Diamond was picked and later traded for Billy Bullock?
  24. No. Offer the amount needed to get the two picks back if he declines the offer. He will likely decline. Draft college pitchers with those two picks. Laugh as he never goes below a 4.00 ERA for a season again.
  25. First, I agree with the view about closers in general here. Second . . . Scott Diamond. Billy Bullock. Now I understand that a rule 5 pick and a later trade is not the same situation as a straight trade, but I don't think it is out of the question to trade a minor league reliever for a minor league starter of decent value ("quality" does not equal "gold" by the way--more straw-manning tactics!).
