  1. Then the Twins go and make solid, smart picks in rounds 4-10. Navarreto is a good find that late and certainly DeMuth is a steal here. He is (and, being a Purdue grad, I hate IU tremendously) a good hitter, with doubles power and a decent approach. I like that pick a lot. Gonsalves is a nice pick too. They did a good job in rounds 1, 4-10.
  2. And Denney goes three picks after him. For real?
  3. His floor is a backup catcher if he learns to hit the baseball. Danny Lehmann.
  4. Stewart is a very solid pick and it was the right one to make. This isn't a Hudson Boyd mistake, this is the real deal. He is obviously behind Berrios, but I will put him in front of Baxendale. And then the Twins made their second pick and made a big mistake . . .
  5. Dedication to becoming better is important. Fort Myers, pronto.
  6. Eades doesn't strike anyone out and is at best a marginal third rounder. The next 9 guys taken are preferable options. No idea what is going on with this team. Trevor Williams, Cody Reed, Blake Taylor, and Tom Windle will be better than Eades. Hopefully tomorrow is better. They got Stewart and that is good, but then they ruined it.
  7. I really hope they give him AAA time ASAP.
  8. I would be shocked if there is another site for any team that did it this well. It's even an immense improvement over last year.
  9. I am not that high on him because he is obviously moving to first base and there are some issues with his game that tells me he is going to be Plouffe-esque in terms of power . . . and everything else. The Rockies aren't wavering. They want the Helton replacement. Stewart will be there for the Twins and that is good. The draft, however, is about rounds 2-20 or so.
  10. I would love to coach Babe Ruth baseball. That was my favorite time as a player back in Bemidji (the high school coaches sucked FOR YEARS with immense talent in front of them).
  11. If I had the knowledge to construct a list for all prospects, I bet Buxton and Sano would be separated by no more than 5 spots. So it doesn't really matter, as Seth says.
  12. My post was in response to the "Babe Ruth" comment about Sano. Is Sano as good as Babe Ruth at age 20? Obviously not, but you would rather respond to the Mays-Buxton comment. Gotcha.
  13. Yeah, I see a potential competition for 4th OF between Morales and Ortiz. Some people don't get excited about such competitions for "marginal" roster spots, but I do.
  14. Given that Dozier has had this much time because of his ability to play defense (at second), I expect Beresford will get a good chance to stick with the team.
  15. Leviathan, while it might not hurt the Twins, it still wasn't the best decision. I still am flabbergasted here. People will go on long posts about why Benson sucks and then say "he wouldn't have been the first player I would have removed from the 40-man" . . . . THAT'S THE DAMN POINT!!!
  16. Clete is in the majors for a bizarre reason. He is not going to be anything at all, just like last year. Benson is 4-5 years younger and still capable of improvement. How is he not a better option at this point? Who cares if he is out of options NEXT YEAR. As he is hitting right now, it would not surprise me if the Rangers worked out a trade involving him in order to improve the team. You DO NOT just let 100-200 level prospects just go away for fun.
  17. And Buxton is Willie Mays-ing it in A-ball at 19. And there is no doubt about both his defensive ability and his ability to hit for average. Imagine: Hicks, RF Mauer, C Buxton, CF Sano, 1B Vargas, DH Arcia, LF Rosario, 2B Plouffe/X, 3B Santana/Beresford, SS
  18. Trading Hardy away for nothing, not batting Mauer second for years, signing Correia, trading Ramos for Capps, wasting Garrett Jones, paying Punto for multiple millions for bad performance, etc. etc. These are not worthy of flippant remarks.
  19. Two years? This nonsense was already destroyed in this tread. It is much less than a year of playing time. Two years? Where do get this nonsense and who bothers to "like" this nonsense? AGAIN, a top 10-20 prospect on all Twins prospects lists gets LET GO FOR NOTHING instead of the 6-8 marginal no-upside players on the 40-man? That's cool with you? You make up a story about 2 years of poor play and that might fit your narrative, but it isn't the truth at all. The comparison to Clete is hilarious. Clete Thomas has more value than Joe Benson? No other team would have bothered with Clete at all before this season. Benson went crazy in AA immediately after leaving this organization that clearly doesn't care about treating prospects appropriately.
  20. Appel is going to sign. What the hell? He is GOING TO SIGN. He would have to be an absolute idiot not to.
  21. Appel is clearly the best pick. Gray is second. I would say Stewart is third. I am skeptical about Bryant and like a few pitchers ahead of him. To not take one of those first three is a mistake.
  22. And yes, Appel will be up somewhere this year. Whatever team can limit his innings in AA or whatever and then give him a good 30 innings in September. Gray is similar, but with less innings.
  23. Smith isn't going to be a first baseman. He is likely to be a left fielder or maybe a right fielder. Organizations know this.
